In this paper, we examine the performance of power line communication equipments (ethernet-to-powerline adapters) that come from different vendors and are based on different technologies and standards. The scope is to investigate commercially available power line communications (PLC) equipment in their actual working environment under real conditions. Coexistence issues are studied, as well as the possible degradation of performance in case powerline adapters from different manufacturers and technologies are simultaneously operating in the powerline network under consideration. The influence of potential noise sources (ac adaptors, cell phone chargers), as well as plug-in cases that are not recommended by the manufacturers but are, however, convenient in domestic grids (power strips, extension cords), are also examined.

Power Line Communication uses the existing power lines within a home, building or an outdoor power distribution network to transmit data from one device to another. With a well-designed power line solution, devices should be able to communicate using the existing wiring infrastructure. This makes power line communication one of the most cost-effective means for networking devices. But as power lines were designed to carry power and not data, it takes a very sophisticated transceiver to reliably communicate over power lines. Many electrical devices connected to the power lines adversely impact the data that is being transmitted.

The Installation of COmputer network sometimes faced many problems. By adding new wires across the buildings or rooms, it is possible to look scattered. The power wiring can easily streams can be carried by electrical wave on the power wiring. Powerline ...
Data transmission over power lines" a technology that sends data through existing electric cables alongside electrical current, is set to turn the largest existing network in the world, the electricity distribution grid, into a data transmission network. We study the applicability of data transmission over power lines (DTOPL) techniques to home automation. We conducted this study after noticing the lack of gathered information on the subject, and this caused by the relatively new research and development in this area.

Power Line Communication has acquired tremendous interest from the research community since its applications and development in the field of Smart grid, in-home & vehicular communication, and its role in Internet of Things (IoT). In this project, I study the features of power line communication and provide an overview of applications in both narrowband and broadband systems, listing applicable standards and specifications. We study the problems in the technology and how recent developments have led to resolve them. A number of tests were conducted for the in-home Power Line Communication (PLC) setup, and different PLC modules were tested for a variety of wiring systems. Further, we conducted tests on two transformers to list the frequencies that can pass through the system, and to study general behaviour of the system to high frequencies.
The importance of the access networks increases after the deregulation of the telecommunication market. Today's access networks are still the property of former monopolistic companies. New network operators try to realize their own access to the subscribers. There are two ways for the expansion of the access networks: building of new networks, which is expensive and needs a long time, and usage of the existing infrastructure (xDSL, CATV), which are also very often a property of former monopolists. Because of that, the usage of electrical power distribution networks for the access area in telecommunications, called Powerline Communications (PLC), becomes more and more attractive. In the paper we present possibilities for the application of PLC in the communications access networks and the position of current technology and regulatory developments. We analyze the PLC network structures as well as the behavior of the telecommunications services which will be used in PLC systems.. Furthermore, we consider the MAC layer of PLC networks and discuss impacts of the disturbances in the PLC transmission channel.

Power Line Communication and Technology, PLCT for short, is an emerging technology with significant new business potential for both the electricity supply and telecommunications sectors. The liberalization and deregulation of these sectors, currently underway in Nigeria is a major driving force in the development and exploitation of PLCT technology. Since power lines were devised for transmission of power at 50-60 Hz, and at most 400 Hz, the use this medium for data transmission, at high frequencies, presents some technically challenging problems. Besides large attenuation, power lines are one of the most electrically contaminated environments, which makes communication extremely difficult. Further, more the restrictions imposed on the use of various frequency bands in the power line spectrum limit the achievable data rates. This paper gives a concise overview, summary of limitations, and evaluation of recent trends in Power Line Communication Technology.
This paper was developed to address the certification requirements by documenting a security analysis and audit of HomePlug Powerline Communication networks. HomePlug devices permit individual workstations or entire network segments to be bridged over standard AC power lines[4]. 2.7.2 Broadband Over Power lines (BPL) for Indian Telecom Network: The objective of this paper is to highlight the BPL access technology in term of features, working, drawbacks, deployment & future challenges, advantages and scope etc. BPL is now a growing communication network technology which is quite fast hitting the competitive market of broad band internet services in international telecom environment. In addition, value added services like internet, voice, video applications etc. can also be provided by BPL[5]. 2.7.3 The Future of Broadband Over Power Line: This paper investigates the power line broadband problems and, its future while there are many obstacles may face this type of broadband. Also it discusses the main Federal Communications Commission (FCC) policies regarding BPL [6]. 2.7.4 Analysis of the Competitiveness of Broadband over Power Line Communication in Korea: This study analyzes factors affecting the competitiveness of broadband over power line communication (BPLC) and predicts demand for the service, based on quantitative information about consumer preferences drawn from a survey of Korean consumers. Findings from the estimation suggest that, although consumers value some beneficial features of BPLC, to be competitive the speed and stability of its data transmission needs to be improved [7].
This paper serves as a general and technical reference to transmission of data using a power line carrier communication system which is a preferred choice over Wireless or other Home Networking technologies due to the ease of installation, availability of AC outlets, higher throughput, low cost, reliability and security. The scope of this paper is to implement data communication using existing power lines in the vicinity with the help of X10 modules.

The Power Line at homes usually consists of external wiring or wireless, both are complicated and expensive. Power line communication has been around for quite some time, but been used for Narrow band tele remote relay applications, public lighting and home automation. Power Line communications basically means any technology that enables data transfer at narrow or broadband speeds through power lines by using advanced modulation technology. A prototype has been designed for power line communication using audio as an input signal at the receiver. Transmitter/Receiver module has been designed which is capable of controlling the signal and transferring it to the receiver side without any external wiring. The control signals is send on the power line using transmitter and all the appliances on that phase are able to sense that signal using receiver. The internal circuitry works on frequency modulation technique for digital data transmission generated by microcontrollers. Each module has...
