Abstract
The paper presents a method that permits readings of both the amount of electricity consumed and the amount charged to the customer. Our device displays the electricity readings on an LCD screen and can send the user an SMS with the reading and cost in rupees. In recent years, e-meter (electronic meter) has played a pivotal role in the development of energy-and cost-efficient systems. In the distant future, it will have a highly dependable and productive programmable meter-reading architecture (AMRS). This study intends to outline a simple easiness. An Internet of Things-based energy meter reading system with defect indication. This eliminates the possibility of manipulating with a user's electric bill by allowing the user to view his exact electricity consumption and cost directly from his meter. The project allows a dual interpretation. One for the LCD display and the other for SMS. Our paper consists of a GSM modem coupled to an 8051-family microcontroller. Continuously monitoring electrical pulses and calculating consumption per unit, the system. The system then utilizes the price per unit to determine the cost of electricity. It then transmits this information to the user and electric company via SMS and shows it on an LCD screen. The system is capable of receiving user messages and controlling load activities. The suggested technology disregards the standard digital meter reading system and permits remote electronic meter access. With appropriate authentication, users can access the developed website's features from any location on the earth. The benefits of this project include cost savings, increased energy efficiency, and reduced manpower and time requirements. This project is built using both hardware and software.

After getting the power consumption the ARM processor will detect the unit pulse and the unit will be converted as per our currency based on government tariff values and displayed on the LCD screen for a specific user. Smart electricity billing system also reduces the error made by humans while taking readings to a large extent and there is no...
The technology of e-metering (Electronic Metering) has gone through rapid technological advancements and there is increased demand for a reliable and efficient Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system. The proposed system replaces traditional meter reading methods. It enables remote access of existing energy meter by the energy provider. A GSM based wireless communication module is integrated with electronic energy meter of each entity to have remote access over the usage of electricity. A PC with a GSM receiver at the other end, which contains the database acts as the billing point. Live meter reading from the GSM enabled energy meter is sent back to this billing point periodically and these details are updated in a central database. Authentically, users can access the developed web page details from anywhere in the world. The complete monthly usage and due bill is messaged back to the customer after processing this data.So GSM based wireless AMR system is more effective approach for convention of billing system. This system also provide authority to electricity companies to take actions against lenient customers who have outstanding dues, otherwise company has right to disconnect the power supply and also it can reconnect power supply after deposition of dues. So we thought to build such automatic system. Keywords-Automatic Meter Reading (AMR), Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM), Short Messaging System (SMS), Radio frequency (RF).

Electricity plays a cardinal role in day to day life. The electrical energy consumption in India is the third biggest after China and USA with 5.5% global share in 2016. Due to manual work, our existing electricity billing system has major drawbacks. This system gives the information on meter reading, power cut and the alert systems for producing an alarm when energy consumption exceeds beyond the specified limit using IoT.This idea is being implemented to reduce the human dependency to collect the monthly reading and minimize the technical problems regarding billing process. From the electricity board section, the information regarding the bill amount, payment and the pre-planned power shut down details are communicated to the consumer. If the customer does not pay the bill in time, the user is informed through a message. In the already existing smart energy meter, it shows the energy consumed by the appliances from the date of installation of the energy meter and its corresponding rupees. In this proposed energy meter, the meter gives the energy consumed on daily basis, its corresponding rupees, billing details and payment using IoT. This system not only reduces the power cut issues and the labor cost for noticing the residential energy consumption in regular intervals but also increases the energy conservation with the help of alarm systems and the energy meter accuracy by reducing the billing error and the cost of maintenance.

Monitoring and keeping tracking of your electricity consumption for verification is a tedious task today since you need to go to meter reading room and take down readings. Well it is important to know if you are charged accordingly so the need is quite certain. Well we automate the system by allowing users to monitor energy meter readings over the internet. Our proposed system uses energy meter with arduino system to monitor energy usage using a meter. The meter is used to monitor units consumed and transmit the units as well as cost charged over the internet using Wi-Fi connection. This allows user to easily check the energy usage along with the cost charged online using a simple web application. Thus the energy meter monitoring system allows user to effectively monitor electricity meter readings and check the billing online with ease. It presents a low cost and flexible energy meter monitoring system using IOT.This technology offers new and exciting opportunity to reduce our work and to prevent the equipments from damages.

Now a day’s electricity consumption in residential homes day by day is increasing. For verification and keep monitoring is very critical task because we have to go physically to take the meter readings in meter existing room. Well it is essential for a consumer because according to the electricity consumed the amount will be charged. We can automate the framework or system by checking the energy meter readings over the web. Our proposed system utilizes microcontroller with energy meter to track the electricity power consumed. With using of GSM module we can transmit the consumed units along with amount charged to the web portal so that consumer can monitor the data over the web. This allows the consumers can check the cost charged and power consumed units online by utilizing a simple web application. Therefore the consumers can monitor the energy meter readings very easily along with the cost and also consumers can check the bill amount online itself. FOTA(Firmware Over-The-Air) opt...
The demand for power has increased exponentially over the last century. One avenue through which today's energy problems can be addressed is through the reduction of energy usage in households. This has increased the emphasis on the need for accurate and economic methods of power measurement. The main objective of the project is to develop smart energy meter is not only measure the consumer's power consumption in KWH but also to enable and support real consumption in rupees according to consumer tariff, so meter reader doesn't need to visit each customer for the consumed data collection and to distribute the SMS. Here a new method of post paid electronic energy metering is introduced in this paper which will automatic ally sense the used energy, records these reading continuously, then sends it to the billing point through the existing GSM network. The energy consumption is calculated using measurement voltage and current with help of current sensor (IN4148), measure voltage and current respectively. Power product of voltage and current, its unit watt or KW and energy is product of power (watt) and time (Hour).so, we use mentioned standard formula and using Arduino Microcontroller Programming, we are calculating total energy consumption of consumer load. Microcontroller has an interface in size of 16*2 LCD, it shows important data dimensions such as voltage, current, active and power and energy consumption it also shows power qualities.

Α cloud-based home electricity data-monitoring system, which is based on an Arduino Mega controller, is proposed for monitoring the electricity consumption (electrical power) and power quality (PQ) in home. This system is also capable of monitoring the fundamental frequency and supply-voltage transients to ensure that the appliances operate in a safe operation range. The measured data (voltage and current) are transmitted through a WiFi device between the Arduino controller and server. The transmission control protocol (TCP) server is set up to acquire the high-data transmission rate. The server system immediately displays the calculated parameters and the waveform of the acquired signal. A comparison with a standard measurement device shows that the proposed system, which can be built at a low cost, exhibits the same functions as a factory product.
