Real-time camera control for videoconferencing over the Internet

In this modern era, people can do meetings by doing video conferencing. By doing video conferencing we can reach our colleagues who are geographically far from us in real time, as if we are close to them through video and audio visual. it's just that sometimes the capacity of video conferencing tools becomes an obstacle in doing conference simultaneously for multiple locations. Video conferencing between three or more locations is possible through the Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) system. This research was conducted at one of the educational institutions which had several branches spread in various locations and each location had a video conference tool. MCU system that was used previously is the sx20 telepresence which can only accommodate 3 video conference locations simultaneously. from this problem this educational institution developed a new MCU system using Acano. Lecture-on-Demand (LOD) multimedia presentation technologies among the network are most often used in many communication services. Examples of those applications include video-on demand, interactive TV and the communication tools on a distance learning system and so on. In this paper, we describe how to present different multimedia objects on a web-based presentation system. The distributed approach is based on an extended timed Petri net model. Using characterization of extended media streaming technologies, we developed a Web-based Multimedia Presentation System. For a real-world example, suppose a well-known teacher is giving a lecture/presentation to his student. Because of time constraints and other commitments, many students cannot attend the presentation. The main goal of our system is to provide a feasible method to record and represent a lecture/presentation in the air. Using the browser with the windows media services allows those students to view live video of the teacher giving his speech, along with synchronized images of his presentation slides and all the annotations/comments. In our experience, this very approach is sufficient to the use of distance learning environment.

This is a paper accompanying (and describing) a demonstration. The intention of this demonstration is to present a novel immersive telepresence system that enables remote students to participate in seminars and lectures using online streaming video and audio connections. In this system, a virtualized video view is created using a 360° panoramic video projected onto a 180° curved projected screen (immersive shell). This recreates a more natural human-like perception of real environments and thereby stimulating the learning process;. 3D audio is also collected and reproduced at the remote location adding to the realism. To accomplish this we use a 360° mirror situated in the classroom which we use with a camera to transmit a panoramic image to the remote users where they reconstruct the original image from spherical to Cartesian. To process the audio we use a small array of microphones at the classroom end. In addition, we provide various tools to allow the participants to control their position within the virtualized views, thereby creating an innovative technology and user experience. We will be demonstrating this system at the conference.

Interactive Distributed Multimedia Systems and …, 1997

One of the most exciting technologies in today's Internet is the MBone. MBone stands for Multicast Backbone; it provides the infrastructure for efficient multipoint packet delivery in the Internet. The most popular scenario is worldwide audio-video conferencing. However, there are no satisfactory methods of archiving multimedia data streams of multicast videoconferences, nor of making them accessible to remote sites (i.e. how to remotely record and remotely play back MBone conferences). In this paper we present the architecture and a prototypical implementation of the MBone Video Conference Recording on Demand (MVoD) service. MVoD is a client-server based architecture for interactive remote recording and playback of MBone sessions. MVoD is implemented based on open standards (e.g. Common Object Request Broker Architecture and Specification (CORBA)), which allows other applications to interface it. Since the MVoD client application is implemented in JAVA, it is possible to access the service from almost any platform. ᭧

Webcasting is the delivery of audio or video over the Internet, either live or on demand, by streaming the data so it can be presented as it downloads. The goals of the webcast/videoconference experiment were to: (1) determine whether it was feasible to conduct an IP videoconference using desktop technology at a small number of sites and simultaneously stream it via IP to a larger audience; (2) explore how other online communications mechanisms such as chat could be used for two-way communication between people viewing the stream and participants in the conference; (3) assess the practicality of offering learning and discussion experiences that marry networked videoconferencing, streaming, and chat technology; and (4) identify issues associated with offering programs that use a combination of synchronous network technologies. The undertaking was motivated by NGI, Internet2, and other initiatives that make it increasingly possible to employ videoconferencing, streaming, and other higher-bandwidth applications to support synchronous distance learning experiences that can complement the asynchronous communication currently dominating the Internet. Issues associated with the use of synchronous or asynchronous communication in distance learning include the benefits of written communication 1-3 versus real time interaction; 4 the degree to which learning approaches stress problem solving, teamwork, cooperation, and community building can be realized when communication is not immediate; 5 and the degree to which the consistent finding in distance education research that students' value of the presence of a learning group should be accommodated. 6,7 The extent to which classroom learning environments can be replicated at a distance is unknown. 8 Most online synchronous communication currently is equated with messaging and chat, 9,10 whereas more LOCATIS ET AL., Webcasting Videoconferences Over IP

We have developed an integrated conferencing system, Global Multimedia Collaboration System, which enables heterogeneous multimedia clients to join the same real-time sessions. Our system provides support for a variety of protocols and applications, including H.323 clients, SIP clients and Access Grid rooms. In this paper, we would like to show the features and design principles of our conferencing server which facilitates audio and video communications among participating clients in a real-time conference.

The studies offered on this paper introduces video conferencing, that is a device orientated to offer its customers with an extra communique availability thru the convergence of traditional telephony and real-time multimedia in web browsers. The device consists of Internet software that provides a video conference room for multiple customers without the need to download additional software. The prevailing task intent is to recommend a unified communications device that stands out from the rest, particularly on the side of interacting with the telephony community directly from an internet browser as well as an animated video conference that allows for a switch in realtime media flows between these technologies. The device was realized using WebRTC (Web Real Time Communications) for real-time audio and video transmission, Node.js as web server and signaling.

In this article a new multimedia conference system is designed and implemented which allows a group of users to conduct a meeting in real time. Participants can jointly view and edit relevant multimedia information, including text, graphics, and still images distributed throughout the network.
