Abstract

This paper addresses issues relating to the development of o~tdo<;,r education schoo.l curric~lum c<;,ntent and interpretation of the curriculum by teachers. It focuses on the Victonan outdoor education curncu.lu~ m order !o hi hIight issues and a potential direction which may be relevant to the develoEment of o.utdoor ~du~ation m schools m o~er states of AustralIa and overseas. The development of ye~rs prep to 10 (P-lO) ?lrnculum IS dIscussed separately from the development of senior secondary (VeE) outd?Or ed~cah0!l b~cause ~ese ~rnculum documents were developed in different contexts and chronological stages. The mtent IS to mstIgate dIscussIOn about the nature and purpos~ of outdoor education curriculum in schools and its implications for the development of the broader outdoor educatIOn profession.
