This paper presents the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) of the TENCompetence Assessment Model, designed to enhance flexibility and integration of assessment processes in education. It outlines the functional and non-functional requirements necessary for building a robust system that supports diverse assessment techniques. The proposed architecture enables the development of composite applications that adapt to changing business needs, facilitating effective competence development assessments.

This article tries to shed some light over the management of assessment resources in a repository of educational resources from an outcome-based perspective. The approximation to this problem is based on the ICOPER Reference Model, as a model to capture e-learning data, services and processes, addressing an interoperability approach. To demonstrate this proposal, a prototype has been implemented. This article also describes the design and development of this prototype that accesses a repository of educational resources (the ...

IMS Question and Test Interoperability (QTI) is an e-learning standard supporting interoperability and reusability of assessment tests/items. However, it has insufficient expressiveness to specify various assessment processes, especially, the new forms of assessment. In order to capture current educational practices in online assessment from the perspectives of assessment process management, we extend QTI and IMS Learning Design (LD) with an additional layer that describes assessment processes in an interoperable, abstract, and efficient way. Our aim is an assessment process specification that can be used to model both classic and new forms of assessment, and to align assessment with learning and teaching activities. In this paper, the development of the assessment process specification and its benefits and requirements are described. A conceptual model, the core of the assessment process specification is presented. The proposed conceptual model has been subject to a first validation, which is also described.

This paper proposes an optimal assessment system for instructors and students in the training sector in the only PSTN (public switched Telephone Network) company in Egypt It's Telecom-Egypt that has 55000 employees and 11000000 customers. We try in this paper to achieve high efficiency by using object-oriented approach in training an assessment system. Assessment area plays an important role in training sector. The student expects the professional instructor and the good Labs suitable for the training process and the management of Training sector to evaluate its performance to achieve throughput. In This paper, we focus on design phase of the assessment and exam system development incorporated by Unified Modeling Language (UML) approach which is a tool for modeling design.

Most examination conducted in the world today; use the CBE in carrying out the exercise. In Nigeria, some universities have started adopting this system of examination in most of their general courses. CBE is the system of examination that is conducted and administered through the use of computer and its related tools. In using this method for conducting examination in Nigeria universities, alots of problems like examination malpractices, cheating in examination hall by accessing other student's answers, capturing images of questions to other students, etc has widely be experienced within the examination centers. Similarly, providing questions and answers to students before the examination commence by some technical staff that does not care about the value of the examination system is also a serious problem facing the potential of this method of conducting examination. A critical examination of this system, shows that all the aforementioned problems are product of the architecture used to design the CBE software. Hence, there is need for a better architecture and system in the light of the challenges of malpractices still facing the currently used system. In this paper, service oriented models suitable for the full implementation of such improved system were designed and discussed. Therefore, the full adoption of these models will result to a better system/software for conducting examination in Nigeria Universities.

In this paper, we propose a new technical approach to support new forms of e-assessment. This approach is based on international e-learning standards and a service-oriented approach. Through a combined use of IMS LD and IMS QTI, new forms of assessment can be modelled as a unit of assessment, a specific unit of learning with a set of QTI documents or/and specific assessment services. The unit of assessment can be executed in any standard-compatible run-time environment. In comparison with traditional software development approaches, our approach fosters interoperability, flexibility, and seamless integration with learning activities.

Human needs to meet their needs cannot be separated from the role of information technology (IT) to provide data and information needs. In the education sector, the need for application of IT is carried out as an effort to support learning activities. One of application for education is a learning management system. Through this research, it will explain the system requirements for an authentic assessment information system based on web application. When conducting an authentic assessment, the teacher will assess the aspects of attitudes, knowledge and skills of student for vocational high school levels. The assessment tools for authentic assessments can be through by performance, writing, projects and portfolios assessments. The software development method used is the waterfall method, where for the needs analysis stage have used user requirement analysis and PIECES table. Meanwhile, for the design stage, we will use design tools by unified modeling language (UML). From the analysis and design of an authentic assessment information system based on web application, it is hoped that it can be one of the recommendations in building a learning management system media that is made in accordance with the assessment guidelines in the 2013 Curriculum.

Compliance with standards is often put forward as a fundamental requirement for the widespread adoption of e-learning frameworks. Among the advantages that accrue from the conformance to standards interoperability and reuse have acquired special significance. This paper is concerned with the presentation of a SCORM-compliant assessment- authoring tool. The tool is designed and implemented as a stand-alone system, which can be integrated into a SCORM-compliant learning management system as a plug-in. A layered approach to system design was adopted as a way of satisfying a hierarchy of requirements. Convenience and usability in creating assessment content are enhanced by hiding the complexity of the underlying system, making transparent the conformance to e-learning standards and minimising user interaction. The system is put into perspective through a comparison with the QTI approach to assessment creation.

Using technology to create online examination is important, more than that, exploring the recent research in the area of standardization of the learning and the assessment content is of paramount. However, there is still a lack of reusable, interoperable and exchangeable learning resources that afford much motivation to instructors. Assessing acquired knowledge is the primary task of any Learning Management Systems (LMS). Consequent-ly, sharing evaluation contents is a major challenge for software engineering. In this paper, we present the “CleverTesting” assessment authoring tool, focusing on its architecture and its conformance to the Question and Test Interoperability (QTI) specification proposed by IMS Global Learning Consortium. We adopt the QTI specification to create reusable, interoperable and sharable assessment content. Our system has three important components: The first component is “CleverTesting” a quiz authoring tool that allows building sharable question items. The s...
