Compressão de Sinais de EEG com JPEG2000 e H.264

Abstract

Resumo-Recentemente, alguns autores têm pesquisado a compressão de sinais biológicos reorganizados como matrizes bidimensionais, de modo a explorar as redundâncias intra e intersegmento através de codificadores de imagens comerciais. Entretanto, a nova formatação resulta em uma baixa correlação através dos segmentos de sinal, o que tem o potencial de reduzir a eficiência de compressão. Para se aprimorar esta técnica, préprocessamento tem sido aplicado a matrizes resultantes de diferentes sinais biológicos, com o objetivo de aumentar a correlação do arranjo, o que facilita a exploração das características dos sinais pelos compressores de imagens. O presente trabalho aborda algumas dessas técnicas, utilizando os compressores de imagem JPEG2000 e H-264. Os resultados de simulações mostram que o esquema de compressão propostoé competitivo e constitui uma alternativa viável para a compressão de eletroencefalogramas.
