Abstract
Human palm print is a wide spreading biometric trait that has been used to detect an individual’s identity Palm print images of 94 individuals have been acquired using Scanning techniques. Images acquired by this technique are used for the identification of an individual by extracting principle lines as a feature of palm print images using Matlab. In this study an algorithm is proposed to compute and filter the first three principle lines of palm print images using Matlab that have been acquired using scanning technique. These characteristic features are used to estimate the identity of an individual. Experiments show that the principle lines from the palm prints can be a good source for any biometric security system.

This paper proposes a novel algorithm for the automatic classiÿcation of low-resolution palmprints. First the principal lines of the palm are deÿned using their position and thickness. Then a set of directional line detectors is devised. After that we use these directional line detectors to extract the principal lines in terms of their characteristics and their deÿnitions in two steps: the potential beginnings ("line initials") of the principal lines are extracted and then, based on these line initials, a recursive process is applied to extract the principal lines in their entirety. Finally palmprints are classiÿed into six categories according to the number of the principal lines and the number of their intersections. The proportions of these six categories (1-6) in our database containing 13,800 samples are 0.36%, 1.23%, 2.83%, 11.81%, 78.12% and 5.65%, respectively. The proposed algorithm has been shown to classify palmprints with an accuracy of 96.03%.

In the networked society there are a great number of systems that need biometric identification ,Biometrics is known to offer a reliable and natural solution for authentication purpose. Palmprint is one new Biometric which solves problems related to Automatic and Authentication recognition as compare to other Biometrics. It contains principle lines ,wrinkles and ridges on the surface of palm. These structure are stable and remain unchanged throughput life of an individual.. In this paper we have proposed palmprint recognition system. Palm is inner region between the hand wrist and the base of the fingers. Here, Local Binary Pattern (LBP) and its analysis are discussed for palm print recognitionwe also included Robust line orientation code (RLOC) for plamprint verification. This technique is simple, highly accurate and takes less time to process the palmprint image..

A biometric system is essentially a pattern recognition system which makes a personal identification by determining the authenticity of a specific physiological or behavioral characteristic possessed by the user. Biometric has gained much attention in the security world recently. Many types of personal identification systems have been developed and palmprint verification is one of the emerging technologies because of its stable, unique characteristics, low-price capture device, fast execution speed also it provides a large area for feature extraction. Palmprint recognizes a person based on the principal lines, wrinkles and ridges on the surface of the palm. The recognition process consists of image acquisition, preprocessing, feature extraction, matching and result. The different techniques are used for the preprocessing, feature extraction, classifiers. The methods discussed are for the online palmprint recognition.
Image processing is widely used in many applications like medical imaging, industrial manufacturing, entertainment and security system. The size of image is very large. Biometrics which use of human physiological characteristics for identifying an individual, now a widespread method of identification and authentication, uses several image processing techniques. Biometric computing offers an effective approach to identify personal identity by using individual's unique, reliable and stable behavioural characteristics. Biometric identification is a technology which describes the general procedure for identification and verification using feature extraction, storage and matching from the digitized image of biometric characters such as Finger Print, Face, Iris or Palm Print. In this paper we present a comparative study and analysis of some palm print feature extraction and identification methods.
In this advanced decade, automatic identification of individuals is a significant achievement due to the high demand of security system. Hence, individual recognition using biometrics data is leading in the field of image processing. Although biometrics data analysis using thumb impression and finger-prints are very popular since many years, sometimes it leads to false acceptance and rejection if any physical change occurs in the finger ridges. There may be a high risk of hacking the biometrics data which is now a big challenge for cyber security employees. This paper captures the palm-print images of individuals as referred biometrics data for individual recognition. The research work is based on one of the prior issue that is feature extraction to extract the features of palm-print image such as principle lines, textures, ridges and pores etc. For this, some of the feature extraction techniques such as Derivatives of Gaussian filter (DoG), Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT), Fast Fou...
Multibiometrics can provide higher identification accuracy than single biometrics, so it is more suitable for some real-world personal identification applications that need high-standard security. Among various biometrics technologies, palm print identification has received much attention because of its good performance. Biometric based authentication and recognition, the science of using physical or behavioral characteristic for identity verification is becoming a security principal in many areas. Their utilization as an authentication and recognition technology has become widespread from door access to electronic commerce. Security is a very important aspect in the biometric system itself. This paper provides an overview of palm print research, describing in capture devices, preprocessing, verification, palm print-related fusion and measures of security and for protecting users' privacy and palm print system, a sectional explaining the biometric recognition process.

There are certain biometric features through which a human can uniquely identified. Some of them are fingerprint, iris, face and palm print. Fingerprint based authentication is more prevalent than the others, but palm print is newly introduced feature through which a system can be introduced that can works like fingerprint authentication system. As the palm of a hand covers more area of skin which contains additional details for comparison and provide more accurate results. In some cases, like investigation of a criminal, use of palm print are more preferable than that of finger prints to maintain detailed database. Use of palm print enables the security system to cross check the identity of a criminal, even if he tries to stupefy the police authority by hiding his finger prints. Various systems are already developed to recognize palm prints and lots of techniques have been developed to extract the features of palm print. Few of them are Local Binary Pattern, Gabor filter, Weber’s L...

Physiological biometrics is one of the attractive fields for researchers due to its unique and stable features. One of these physical biometrics is "Palm Print". This new approach is used in personal recognition because of the powerful information that can be extracted from the palm print. The characteristics that are extracted keeping the rules of palmprint feature extraction are very important. In spite of the huge work done in this approach, the results recorded about the palm print are still uncompleted and the techniques that used in palm print feature extraction used in recognition are still continually modified. In this paper, we present a detailed background review for many techniques and methods that are used to extract features from palm print with many various methods and procedures. A comparison between these techniques is also presented.

Palmprint is widely used in personal identification and authentication for a precise and robust recognition. Palmprint recognition has been reconnoitered over numerous years. During this instance of time, several different glitches related to palmprint recognition have been addressed. Furthermost of the studies has been done in palmprint recognition due to its stability, reliability and exclusivity. Furthermore it has been used for law enforcement, civil applications and access control applications. Researchers have proposed a variety of palmprint preprocessing, feature extraction and matching approaches. This paper deliberates about the number of investigation works introduced to overcome the difficulties confronted in each stage of palm print verification. Our study on palm print recognition focuses on verifying the palm print in different types of schemes involved.
