Outline

Causality and Time: An Introductory Typology (Preprint)

Abstract

In this paper we focus on what it precisely means to say that x causes y? Our aims are two-fold. First, we want to offer an introductory overview of a number of philosophical definitions or theories of causality. This overview is especially accessible to non-philosophers. And secondly, we will explore how the relation between causality and time is portrayed in these definitions and theories.
