This paper presents PML 2, a modular framework for declarative explanation representation in question answering systems, addressing the growing demand for transparency in automated information retrieval. By incorporating ontologies for provenance, justifications, and trust, the framework allows for flexible and context-specific explanations, enhancing user understanding and acceptance of generated responses. The modular design enables users to select components according to their needs, aiding in various applications that require different levels of explanatory detail.
