Ground and Explanation in Mathematics
2019, Philosopher's Imprint
Abstract
Suppose you write down all of the whole numbers from 1 to 99,999. How many times would you write down the digit 7? The answer turns out to be 50,000 times. That is a striking result since (as you have probably noticed) 50,000 is half of 100,000, which is just one more than 99,999. philosophers ' imprint -2 -vol. 19, no. 33 (august 2019)
