Chronotherapeutics, including light and wake therapy, offer promising interventions for affective disorders such as major depression. Wake therapy has shown rapid antidepressant effects, benefiting approximately 60% of patients within hours, while light therapy has efficacy not only for seasonal mood disorders but also for non-seasonal major depression, especially when combined with conventional antidepressants. The recommendations from the International Society for Affective Disorders emphasize the significance of clinical trials exploring these therapies as potential alternatives or adjuncts to traditional treatments.
