Wireless Sensor Networks together with Radio Frequency Identification are promising technologies for supply chain management systems. They both provide supply chain players with goods tracking and monitoring functions along the chain. Whereas RFIDs are rather focusing on identification of goods (e.g., identification, classification), WSNs are meant to monitor and control the supply chain environment. Nevertheless, despite the interest for the supply chain management systems, their integration is often deterred due to the lack of interoperability. In this paper, we propose a software framework which makes easier the integration of both RFIDs and WSNs into supply chain management systems.

Kevin Ashton, an expert in RFID in 1999, first used the word "the Internet of Things (IoT)". As per the terms of technology, IoT is an environment that people understand in many different ways, depending and based on their requirement, point of view and purpose. This paper discusses the supply chains and its possible applications for job scheduling in the IoT framework. The supply chain management (SCM) is a means of providing facilities for delivery of services with the purpose of transporting materials for distribution to end of the chain or customers. SCM has the property of delivery tracking at every time while using the best possible path which augurs well with IoT resembling the dynamic route conditions. The study is further encouraged by the fact with Radio Frequency for Identification (RFID) being the assistive tracking technology for both SCM and IoT.

Quality of food is mainly governed by the condition it is transported in. Wireless Sensor Networks have the potential to better control those transport conditions. When moving the Wireless Sensor Networks from a lab environment to the transport processes in harbors and shipping facilities, several challenges have to be met. A system architecture and the challenges faced in a transfer project with industry partners, i.e. radio propagation, autonomy, illustration of data and housing are presented in this article.

An automated Supply Chain Management (SCM) System includes the real-time GPS position tracking of transport fleets as well as a RFID based shipment tracking at the entry and exit point of the warehouse. This paper has proposed a system architecture and implementation of the same using Arduino and SIM808 based GPS position tracking system for constrained power application. A Raspberry Pi and RC522 RFID Reader is used for a MQTT based shipment tracking system at the warehouse. Integration of both the modules makes a comprehensive Automated Supply Chain Management System, which can be used by logistic companies to monitor and manage their logistics using the web based GUI. Internet of Things (IoT) platform is used for data communication from Sensors to cloud platforms HTTP POST and PHP is prior and CloudMQTT in later case.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a growing ubiquitous technology, powered with radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags embedded in devices with wireless, mobile, and sensor capability, which can capture and share data seamlessly in an information network. The scholarly and practice fields of IoT has been growing rapidly and is indicative of this technology's maturity. Its applications are widespread with enormous potential for future deployment across industry sectors. To understand the development of IoT in supply chain management, this chapter reviews IoT for digital transformation (SCM 4.0) within Industry 4.0. We put forth some technological and business challenges facing the adoption decision. This chapter summarizes the latest development of IoT applications and trends, and identifies other disruptive technologies that can complement IoT and supply chain management amid technological and business challenges. Areas of future concerns and directions are also presented.

In view of the shortcomings in information collection and tracking management in existing logistics, the key technologies of wireless sensor network and the basic concepts and methods of Information Technology Infrastructure Library(ITIL) is studied. The basic structure and main functions of the logistics tracking system based on wireless sensor network is put forward. It can effectively solve the detection, location, recognition and automatic processing of fault events and other issues of goods in the process of logistics tracking management. In addition, combined with the GIS software, the logistics tracking and monitoring system based on the wireless sensor network is realized by using Java language coding. The results show that this system can realize the tracking, visualization and automatic management of the information in the process of goods transportation. Therefore, the proposed method significantly improves the accuracy, rapidity and intuition of the logistics information management .
