This special issue explores new perspectives on joint attention by broadening its analysis beyond psychological contexts to include social, ethical, cultural, and anthropological dimensions. It presents ten papers categorized into two main themes: the nature of joint attention and its functions in various aspects of human life. Contributors examine definitions of joint attention, its manifestations, and its roles in communication, learning, and collaborative activities, while also addressing the implications of joint attention in contemporary online environments and fieldwork.
