The Internet of Things (IoT) is a fast growing and user-friendly technology that connects everything together. And it can communicate effectively between the people who connect "Things." Internet of Things, also known as Internet of Objects, usually refers to remote systems between projects. Systems will be remote and self-designable. However, the world's largest information technology companies tend to release products in the form of services to avoid disclosing detailed design and implementation knowledge. Hence, the overall trend of academic institutions is to use these mainstream IoT platforms as "black boxes". IoT is the third wave of economy after the first and second being agriculture and industry, respectively, paving the way for the fourth industrial revolution (4IR). IoT is a combination of all the revolutionary technologies in the last two decades. More than a billion of smart devices have been developed across the world by more than 10 vendors to satisfy billions of needs that are trusted by 98% of economic actors. This study describes design and implementation of IoT architectures stressing on scalability, integration, and interoperability of heterogeneous IoT systems. It gives answers to (i) how systems can be designed to become easily configurable and customizable for a specific IoT infrastructure? And (ii) how Investors, producers and consumers can be integrated on the same page of an IoT platform?

It is generally believed that the application of methods plays an important role in developing quality systems. A development method is mainly necessary for structuring the process in producing largescale and complex systems that involve high costs. Similar to the development of other systems, it is important for IoT systems to be developed in a systematic manner in order to achieve a proper system with respect to both the functional and nonfunctional requirements. Development methods for IoT systems are more complex than traditional software systems and possess challenges from the process perspective. So far, several IoT system development methods (SDMs) have already been proposed in the literature, but an overview and evaluation of SDMs for IoT is still missing.

The recent growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) devices has lead to the rise of various complex applications where these applications involve interactions among large numbers of heterogeneous devices. An important challenge that needs to be addressed is to facilitate the agile development of IoT applications with minimal effort by the various parties involved in the process. However, IoT application development is challenging due to the wide variety of hardware and software technologies that interact in an IoT system. Moreover, it involves dealing with issues that are attributed to different software life-cycle phases: development, deployment, and progression. The internet of things (IoT) is a term where everyday physical objects are connected to the internet via fixed or wireless networks, thereby creating a ubiquitous network. These physical objects are augmented with sensing, processing and networking capabilities. With such capabilities, these physical objects are referred to as "smart objects". The challenge has been in reducing the complexities involved in connecting the billions of devices, people, services and sensors, in order to bridge the gap between the real and virtual worlds. This has been made possible through the development of IoT platforms. A city is referred to as 'smart' if it integrates smart objects into its products and services. The challenge is to integrate IoT platforms into the smart cities architectures in an effort to provide automated solutions to the various use cases for smart cities. Each IoT platform has a unique functionality to solve a particular use case, for example. Therefore in such a situation there should be criteria in place to select the most appropriate platform to solve a particular use case.
