The emergence of COVID-19 has led to numerous controversies over COVID-related knowledge and policy. To counter the perceived threat from doctors and scientists who challenge the official position of governmental and intergovernmental health authorities, some supporters of this orthodoxy have moved to censor those who promote dissenting views. The aim of the present study is to explore the experiences and responses of highly accomplished doctors and research scientists from different countries who have been targets of suppression and/or censorship following their publications and statements in relation to COVID-19 that challenge official views. This article critically examines the emerging global war on pathogens mimicking the Global War on Terror (GWOT). We draw upon the history of recent wars and the fear-driven narratives aimed at nudging the public toward uncritical acceptance of the new emerging social and economic global order. We adopt Edward Herman and Noam Chomsky’s ‘Propaganda Model’ to describe how mainstream media perform in manufacturing consent to policies that tighten control over populations and degrade rights, agency, and sovereignty. Here we consider the efforts of globalist political actors who seek to co-opt or influence political institutions around the world and position themselves as unelected rulers of an emerging authoritarian order. COVID-19 PANDEMIC. UGANDA IN BRACKETS, 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic book is a compilation of detailed information on the disease from its outbreak to its vaccination. The book explains the disease in global context and the Uganda context in particular. The writer of the book collected information from different sources and he expects that it will be used for teaching this generation and the generations to come, understand the COVID-19 pandemic in its scientific and historical descriptions. The writer, to make the book easily readable, broke it down into ten chapters. Chapter one deals with epidemiology of the COVID-19 pandemic. Under this chapter, the writer laid down explanations on the study and analysis of the disease conditions, its determinants, its patterns and its distribution. More clarifications were focused on the name of the disease, its history, its transmission and its pathophysiology. Chapter two highlights is the diagnosis of the COVID-19 pandemic. The focal points under this chapter are the testing of COVID-19, its complications, the pathological findings, its immunity resistance and the management of COVID-19. Chapter three of this COVID-19 pandemic book, concentrates on prevention and treatment of the disease. Prevention described in this chapter involves the use of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). These are hand washing with detergent soap, use of sanitizers, putting on face mask, social distancing, surface cleaning, use of ventilation and eating healthy diet. Chapter four describes key statistics of the COVID-19 pandemic from its outbreak to its vaccination (Late 2019 to March 2021). The author reviewed statistics on global cases, recovery, deaths, vaccinations and their mitigations. In chapter five, the writer explains the COVID-19 pandemic related researches. He detailed the medical treatment research emerged to counter the COVID-10 disease. Also the chapter explained the researches involved in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. The next chapter (6), was raised to not miss information about responses to COVID-19 pandemic by governments and United Nations. From chapter seven to chapter ten, the author discussed the common global impacts of COVID-19. These are impacts on global economy, impacts on education, impacts on health sector, impacts on arts, entertainment and sports and impacts on social movements in communities. Chapter eleven came up with details on the COVID-19 misinformation. It explains the misinformation about the origin of the disease, misinformation about cases and deaths reports, treatment misinformation and effort to combat misinformation about COVID-19 pandemic. Chapter twelve of the book collected information on protests over responses to COVID-19 pandemic in Africa, Asia, Europe and America. The thirteenth chapter being the last chapter gives details of information about COVID-19 pandemic in Uganda. It gives the timelines of the diseases in Uganda, Public Private Partnership responses to the diseases and socio-economic impacts of COVID-19 in Uganda. The book ends with indices of brief data of COVID-19 15 most affected countries in the world, the graphical presentation of key COVID-19 statistics.

Emergence of coronavirus in December 2019 and its spread across the world in the following months has made it a global health concern. The uncertainty about its evolution, transmission and effect of SARS-CoV-2, has left the countries and their governments in a worrisome state. Ambiguity about the strategies that would work towards mitigating the impact of virus has prompted them to use data-driven methods. Several countries started applying big data and advanced analytics technology for management of the crisis. This study aims to understand how different nations have employed analytics to deal with COVID-19. This paper reviews various strategies employed by different governments and organizations across nations that use advanced analytics to tackle pandemic. In the current emergency of corona virus, there have been several measures that organizations have taken to mitigate its impact, thanks to the evolution of computing technology. Big data and analytical tools provide various solutions like detection of existing COVID-19 cases, prediction of future outbreak, anticipation of potential preventive and therapeutic agents, and assistance in informed decision-making. This review discusses the big data analytics and artificial intelligence approaches that policy makers, researchers, epidemiologists and private organizations have adopted. By examining the different ways and areas where data analytics has been utilized, this study provides the other nations with the progressive scheme to address the pandemic.

The COVID pandemic was in its early stages when I retired in 2020, so that I've had almost no personal experience of treating patients sick with it myself. But after three years of upsetting the lives of nearly everyone on the planet, it's still very much with us, still shrouded in mystery, still being perpetuated by the same fear and uncertainty that helped launch it in the first place, and dramatizes with its own special urgency a lot of what I've been writing about ever since I began practicing long ago. Of course, my collected thoughts, feelings, and opinions about it could also be wrong, which would actually be an enormous relief. But the scientific evidence that we now possess leaves little doubt that even the most speculative of my conspiracy theories are a lot closer to the truth than any sane person would willingly tolerate.

In my teaching and academic writing, I have tried to steer clear of current events, particularly those that are intertwined with electoral politics. I have done so not only out of cowardice but also because I find that most of us do not learn as much from discussions of current events as from history. A wise student of human frailty, Jesus of Nazareth, once observed that people see small flaws in others but not large ones in themselves. 2 The problem that aspect of human nature presents for this paper is that a similar problem occurs in American politics. Most of us tend to identify with one political party or the other and only to see the errors of our political opponents, not those of "our side." That is particularly so today: voters either love Donald Trump or they hate him. Joe Biden is somewhat less of a polarizing figure, but there too, his supporters find it difficult to acknowledge his mistakes and see most of them as somehow Trump's fault. However, as the topic of this paper is how political and scientific issues became confused during the recent pandemic and how that malady can be avoided in the future, it is unavoidable to discuss the behavior of both Trump and Biden. I urge the reader to try their best to put aside his or her political allegiances; the point is not which political party was to blame for what happened. The important issues are (1) how it happened, and (2) how to prevent something similar in the future. * * * Virtually every fact relating to the COVID-19 virus 3 was distorted by politics. This report examines the intersection between political and policy responses to Covid-19 across 8 democracies (the UK, Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Israel, Japan, Taiwan, and the US). In doing, it provides first-cut analyses of the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic. For democracy to thrive, accountability is key. Core to this accountability is an understanding of how democratic states act to protect their citizens against a myriad of threats. In recent months, perhaps the largest of these threats has been the Covid-19 pandemic. Among the report's 8 case studies, some states were more prepared for such an event, and acted with more forethought, than others. This report shows that these differences in preparedness and forethought had real-world effects.
