MyMobileWeb is an open source, standards-based software framework that simplifies the rapid development of mobile web applications and portals. MyMobileWeb encompasses a set of technologies which enable the automatic adaptation of applications to the target Delivery Context [2] (browser, device, network, location,…), thus offering a harmonized user experience. Nowadays there are approaches for creating universal content [3] [4] which can be rendered by any device. However they do not exploit the capabilities of the target delivery context at a maximum, resulting in a poor user experience. The MyMobileWeb project advocates for the development of mobile specific versions of applications and contents, rather than pruning or adapting a version intended to be used from desktop PCs [5][6]. To this aim, MyMobileWeb offers the ability to incorporate contents from standard Context Management Systems or to connect to JavaEE information systems, thus making it easier the development of a web-based, multi-channel access layer to legacy or existing systems.

Originally the World Wide Web was just a space of interconnected pages with rather static content tailored for presentation on desktop computers. The last decade was a time of dynamic evolution of the World Wide Web, as it becomes an application platform and is accessed by more and more varied devices (laptops, tablets, smartphones, smart TVs, etc.). The static content is replaced by interactive web applications that have to work properly on a growing number of web browsers. The migration from simple web pages to web applications should be easier thanks to the new features introduced in the HTML5 and CSS3 specifications. However, these specifications are still not final and the support for different features varies among web browsers, which makes development of web applications, especially mobile web applications, a difficult task. In this chapter we present an analysis of a usefulness of new features introduced by HTML5 and CSS3 specifications for building internet applications for mobile devices and we provide some guidelines for web application developers.

Mobile devices have made the world a small place. They are also being used widely, to access the Web. However, because most available web pages are designed for desktop PC in mind, it is inconvenient to browse these large web pages on a mobile device with a small screen. With the enormous increase in mobile users since last decade, to such an extent that it even exceeds the number of desktop users in many developing countries, it becomes crucial to design systems for Web Manipulation, there by providing easier and greater accessibility and device independence. In this paper, we propose a new browsing technique to facilitate efficient web access and provide a better user experience on a device with rather small screen as compared to the usual desktop. It also proposes a novel technique to handle multimedia content, especially the images and video on a web page. In order to solve the problem of incomplete tags in HTML, an equivalent XML is generated for the desired webpage. For efficient browsing, the web page is represented as a multi level hierarchy, with the index of major sections on the first level and the sections indexed again in to subsections on the second level and so on, until we reach subsections that can be represented as sub-pages that fit in the small screen. We also propose an efficient algorithm for navigating through the subpages, thereby providing better user experience. The proposed technique provides better and efficient web browsing on mobile small displays up to user satisfaction.

New web standards are emerging day after day. Some of them are crucial in the improvement of web application for mobile devices. From visualization issues to hardware access, all this new tools can help developers to create native like applications on web environments. HTML5 and CSS3 with css media queries are some examples that are already available to use. Some other standards, such as W3C Devices' APIs, are still in progress but nearly to arrive. This paper shows existing and future standards for mobile web.

The trend towards mobile devices usage has made it possible for the Web to be conceived not only as an information space but also as a ubiquitous platform where users perform all kinds of tasks. In some cases, users access the Web with native mobile applications developed for well-known sites, such as, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. These native applications might offer further (e.g., location-based) functionalities to their users in comparison with their corresponding Web sites because they were developed with mobile features in mind. However, many Web applications have no native counterpart and users access them using a mobile Web browser. Although the access to context information is not a complex issue nowadays, not all Web applications adapt themselves according to it or diversely improve the user experience by listening to a wide range of sensors. Abstract In this paper, we outline a projection on the trend of using web technologies for creating end-user applications in mobile devices. Following a paradigm shift in the software industry, from only-binary applications to dynamic web applications, mobile web development tools evolve to offer an integral native solution that allows to simplify the soft-ware process and broad its scope to a true, single cross-platform development effort.

The paradigm shift around the Mobile phenomenon – the explosion of mobile online users –, Google’s response to that trend and the what such changes entail further for website developers are issues around which this paper is built. In the first part of this paper we made an analysis of the literature in order to clarify certain terminology and trends of Mobile Web. Further we illustrate the practical aspects of implementing these technological issues for a faculty institutional website (Faculty of Economics and Business Administration within the West University of Timisoara). In the last part, we analyzed statistical data collected during last five years of operation of that website, emphasizing compliance with the trends in the field worldwide.

Building web applications for mobile and other non-desktop devices using established methods often requires a tremendous development effort. One of the major challenges is to find sound software engineering approaches enabling the cost efficient application development for multiple devices of varying technical characteristics. A new approach is to single author web content in a device independent markup language, which gets then adapted to meet the special characteristics of the accessing device. This paper describes our approach to single authoring, which was developed in the course a large European research project. The project has developed a device-independent language profile based on XHTML 2.0 and implemented a compliant rendering engine. We focus on layout and pagination capabilities of the RIML (Renderer Independent Markup Language) and show how authors can be assisted by development tools supporting device independent authoring.

Next Generation Web Application Recently, Web 2.0 Trends, one of the Pragmatic Web Application Trends, derives the 2 nd golden age of World Wide Web leading to great influence on the Web industry. The Web 2.0 trends do influence the wired Internet industry and the Mobile industry in particular.

Web applications are becoming more and more complex in an continuously growing Internet and Intranet networks. Nowadays accessibility should not be considered as a barrier to innovation and the possibility of developing optimized accessible solutions in order to favor the reduction or elimination of the gap between those who can independently access web resources and those who can not (in particular people with visual impairment) is a requirement that is indispensable for the modern society. This paper presents a concept and proposes a solution to develop a mobile accessible rich internet web application, presenting its architecture, development environment, as well as the adaptive and responsive capabilities using the AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) publishing technology and its advantages.
