Position papers comprise two categories of contributions-challenge papers and emerging research papers. Challenge papers propose and describe research challenges in theory or practice of computer science and information systems. Papers in this category are based on deep understanding of existing research or industrial problems. Based on such understanding and experience, they define new exciting research directions and show why these directions are crucial to the society at large. Emerging research papers present preliminary research results from work-in-progress based on sound scientific approach but presenting work not completely validated as yet. They describe precisely the research problem and its rationale. They also define the intended future work including the expected benefits from solution to the tackled problem. Subsequently, they may be more conceptual than experimental. FedCSIS 2019 was Chaired by prof. Bogdan Franczyk, while prof. Rainer Unland acted as the Chair of the Organizing Committee. The 29th Annual Symposium on Computer and Information Sciences, held in Krakow under the auspices of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Informatics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, pursues the tradition of a broad-based sym- posium presenting recent advances in scientific and technical aspects of Information Technology. Notable in this year’s event are the presence of new areas such as Quantum Computing, and the greater emphasis on Network Security via a session (as last year) that presents some of the results from the EU FP7 Project NEMESYS. All papers included in the proceedings have undergone an evaluation by at least two referees, and most of the papers have been examined by at least three referees. Published by Springer, in the past 3 years each of these proceedings has had some 10,000 full paper downloads, which is equivalent to, on average, over 200 down- loads per paper. We therefore hope that this year’s ISCIS 2014 proceedings, the 29th Symposium in a long series that started in Ankara, Turkey, in 1986, will continue to be useful to the international scientific and technical community in Computer Science and Engineering.

CACIC’12 was the eighteenth Congress in the CACIC series. It was organized by the School of Computer Science and Engineering at the Universidad Nacional del Sur. The Congress included 13 Workshops with 178 accepted papers, 5 Conferences, 2 invited tutorials, different meetings related with Computer Science Education (Professors, PhD students, Curricula) and an International School with 5 courses. CACIC 2012 was organized following the traditional Congress format, with 13 Workshops covering a diversity of dimensions of Computer Science Research. Each topic was supervised by a committee of 3-5 chairs of different Universities. The call for papers attracted a total of 302 submissions. An average of 2.5 review reports were collected for each paper, for a grand total of 752 review reports that involved about 410 different reviewers. Olympiads in Informatics, 2016

This article presents the retrospective of organizing the Republican Olympiad in Informatics from the first editions. It describes the current model of organizing the competition: steps, target groups, methodologies of development, evaluation, and the preparation of participants for the different stages of the competition.
