Abstract
It is observed that, the major hindrance on road is due to heavy traffic flow during peak hours especially when people commute to work. The total number of vehicles or objects exceeds its capacity by causing a blockage for emergency vehicles such as fire fighter and rescue vehicles, furthermore wastage of fuels adds more to the environmental pollution which is not adoptable for a country’s economic growth. In order to develop an efficient, reliable, cleaner and safer mode of transportation, it is necessary to make the road transportation system automated as much as possible. To track the vehicle, we need to send the message to GSM device, so that it gets activated. It also gets activated by detecting the accident on the vibration sensor connected to the Arduino UNO controller. Once the GSM is activated it receives the last latitude and longitude position value and send message to the emergency server which is predefined in the program.

In highly populated countries, people lose their lives because of accidents and poor emergency facilities every day. These lives could have been saved if medical facilities are provided at the right time. This thesis implies a system which is a solution to this drawback, when a vehicle meets with an accident immediately, accelerometer module detects the signal, and it is sent to the Arduino microcontroller programmed by C programming language. Arduino sends an alert message through the GSM module including the location to the police station or a rescue team. So the police can immediately trace the location through the GPS modem after receiving the information. LCD is used to display location message from GPS module. With the growing population the use of vehicles has become superfluous and this has led to increase in the number of accidents at an alarming rate. This project aims at detecting the accident and reporting the location of accident to the previously coded numbers. This helps in a speedy service from the ambulance and the concerned person. The GPS and GSM technology is used to locate the position of the vehicle in the form of latitude and longitude coordinates and sends it through SMS. Piezoelectric and alcohol sensors when triggered, help in detecting the accident and sending the signal to the micro controller of the system. This further helps in sending the message to the concerned person. This system can help companies in the rental vehicle business to keep a track of the vehicular activity by sending message at regular intervals to the authorized numbers.

Arduino Based Vehicle Accident Alert System using GPS, GSM and Accelerometer. Accelerometer detects the sudden change in the axes of vehicle and GSM module send the alert message on your Mobile Phone with the location of the accident. Nowadays accidents have been a quiet common problem for the people who are in highly populated countries. Every day most of the people here are met with accidents and losing their lives. At least if there is an availability of emergency facilities there is a chance of saving lives. This project is to overcome the drawback mentioned if any vehicle met with an accident immediately a vibration sensor in the pre-installed device kept in the vehicle gets activated and sends signals to the Arduino microcontroller. Now the microcontroller will send an alert message through GSM modem includes the location coordinates to the police station or to the rescue team so that the rescue team or police can be able to locate the location easily using GPS modem to provide emergency facilities or they will take them to the nearest hospital once the information received. The proposed system has been simulated and practically designed using hardware components and the results are satisfied with the explanation.

Nowadays, Over 37,000 people die in road accidents each year because medical aid cannot reach to the location in time. This system aims to alert the nearby medical center and register mobile numbers about the accident to provide immediate medical aid. The vibrator attached in the vehicle senses sudden vibrations in the vehicle, and Accelerometer detects the tilt of the vehicle. Once the accident occurs to the vehicle, with the help of the GPS module, it takes the exact location of the vehicle and sends the accident location to the registered mobile numbers and the ambulance with the support of the GSM module. The main aim of this project is to minimize the time to reach the accident location to provide iSmmediate medical help that saves human lives.
The growth in technology has made our lives simple. The advancement in technology has increased the hazards in traffic and road accidents taking place frequently causes loss of life and property this is due to lack of emergency and help facilities . Our paper provides a solution to this disadvantage. When an accident occurs immediately the vibration sensor detects the impact and micro electro mechanical system (MEMS) will detect this signal and send it to Arduino TDGGSM_908 microcontroller. The microcontroller initiates GPS, traces the accident location and sends an alert SMS using GSM to the police and medical rescue team. If the impact of the accident is less than the average calculated impact which causes threat to human lives then the alert SMS would not be sent.

The number of vehicle collisions in India is among the highest in the world. One major factor that leads to these accidents becoming fatal is the response of the emergency services which in most cases are not notified sufficiently within time as the passengers of the vehicle may not be in a state to make calls or raise alarms. Our systems will detect the occurrence of an accident, notify the emergency services with the exact location of this collision and also inform a select number of emergency contacts that have been set by the user. Now-a-days road accidents are increasing rapidly due to carelessness of driving, Over Speeding, Drunken Driving and many others. If we see a newspaper and we will find at least one or two news about road accidents daily. A road accident is where a vehicle crashes into another vehicle or a person or an object. These accidents can lead to very dangerous injuries and also death in some cases. For quick proclamation and identification regarding an accident there is no system. This paper deals win the accident detection and alerting system. The main focus of this paper is to detect the accident immediately after it has been occurred and inform to the emergency services and family members and friends so that proper action can be taken quickly to avoid severe injuries. This system focuses to alert the registered mobile number and gives the information to the nearby medical center about the accident to provide instant intensive care. The main motto of our framework is to pass an alert stating that such an accident has taken place at particular coordinates of latitude and longitude to the registered m obile using wireless communication techniques. In a short span of time, the message will be sent to the registered Mobile using the GSM module at any place or any city, whenever an accident occurs. Arduino is the Centre of our System, that will help in performing the communication between the peripheral devices. Over the last two decades, Mumbai, and subsequently India, has seen a huge increase in the number of vehicles on the road. Suddenly, the demand and popularity of the private transport has raced ahead of the public transport by miles. The number of vehicles on the road is always directly proportional to the road accidents and injuries. As a result of the former increasing every year, it is but natural that the latter too, has gone up. Factors of road accidents include: 1. Lack of education and awareness-There is a basic sense of traffic rules which every single person should have. Unfortunately, in our country, people are not sensitive to that. Also, it does not help that almost everyone is very casual and relaxed about the traffic-sense. 2. Weak law enforcement-India is a country which is known to have good laws regarding its road safety. However, these laws are of no use in theory, if they cannot be put into practice correctly. Our country still has many officers who do not take the rules seriously and are very lax in terms of implementation. 3. No technical support-According to WHO's Global Status Report on Road Safety 2018, electronic stability control is fitted in 70% of the world vehicles but it is only 10% in the vehicles in India. That needs to change if we want our citizens to feel safer on the roads.
