The Directorate-General of Cultural Heritage of the Autonomous Community of Madrid recently launched a collaboration programme with the Madrid School of Architecture to help young architects trained in architectural heritage restoration make a start in their career. This paper is presented within this context and describes the project for the restoration of the wall leading to La Coracera Castle and the construction of a visitors' centre by Enjarje Arquitectura, a young architectural studio. La Coracera Castle dates back to the fifteenth century and is the second in importance in the Madrid Region since it is one of the earliest fortifications prepared for artillery. It has recently been restored by the Directorate-General of Cultural Heritage, but these restoration works focused solely on the castle, leaving the perimeter gardens and the entrance to the fortress untouched. The need for a new boundary wall and visitors’ reception area led to further works in 2014, which are the subject of this paper. The new wall marking the limits of the site was duplicated and the bays between converging walls created the spaces that form the pavilion. The size and layout of these granite walls enable them to act as retaining elements allowing the uneven ground to be addressed and at the same time minimizing the visual impact of the new facilities, which become part of the landscaping. The pavilion itself is on the path to the castle and emulates the ancient use of bent entrances to fortifications. Another of the main aims was the recovery of local building traditions through the materials. Having been plundered in the past by the villagers to build their homes, the original granite from the castle walls has now been recovered to build the pavilion. Thus granite again becomes the principal feature of the main elevation in thick stone walls that provide high thermal inertia which, together with the right orientation, allows energy to be used efficiently.
Cultural tourism is an important element of cultural heritage protection through appropriate presentation of valuable objects. One of the possibilities of exhibition monuents is to create tourist routes. The selection and appropriate grouping of facilities will enable better management and will ensure constant protection. It is also a way to promote regional heritage in the landscape - works of nature and man. The study will present tourist routes combining various of the cultural heritage from the Zalewo area commune (Warmia-Mazury). Cultural heritage is a manifestation of the identity of societies. It manifests itself in intagible nad material valuse. It's destrution affects the weakening of the sense of identity. The same is true of the cultural landscape, which is a manifestation of constant changes taking place as a result of people's actions.

The archaeological site of Ancient Noto is all that remains of one of the most interesting and important cities in the Est part of Sicily. Architecture and political life made Noto a point of reference for the island, expecially in XVI and XVII century, before it was destroyed by a devastating earthquake in 1963. A general project of safeguard, together with archaeological excavations, could hand a great amount of information, archaeological finds, pieces of architecture, that are useful to understand the site, known as a "Sicilian Pompei". Our intervention has the aim to describe the importance of EFIAN (Experimental Fruition Ingenious Ancient Noto). The project is carried out as a collaboration between Palermo University, Catania University, SIQUILLIYA s.r.l. and Service & Advice s.r.l.. The project answers to the need of improving the valorisation of the site, according to the principles of Italian Code for Cultural Heritage and Landscape. EFIAN's purpose is that of improving public's sensibilisation, to open lines of research and restauration of monuments. The working method is based on the strong relationship established between History, Architectonic Relief, Restauration, and Study of ancient technics of construction linked to the territory. The research is supported by new generation technologies. Datas are used to build digital reconstructions of ruins in the shape of virtual anastylosis and digital reconstruction of whole buildings. Four different sites have been studied during the project development. * * a. Zaira Barone, Phd in Conservation of Architectural Heritage.-b. Gaia Nuccio, Phd student in History of Architecture.
A reflection is proposed about designing urban remains: places that have ceased to perform their original function and that now find themselves without citizenship, in a sort of grey area. Too little attractive to be taken into account by real estate operators, unlike the big industrial zones. Too recent, and still recognizable, to assume the noble and romantic rank of "ruin". Not so special to deserve restoration and the Superintendence interest. Even not so damaged to be considered waste. However, they can represent a strategic resource for the territory, not just being available to perform new functions, but also holding memories and human stories that would otherwise be lost.

This article studies the architectural design and cultural significance of Villa Namazee, a modernist building designed by Italian architect Gio Ponti in Tehran. The study explores how the building, once a symbol of modernity and progress, has been neglected, delisted from the national heritage, and fallen into disrepair. Focusing primarily on the case of Villa Namazee in Tehran, Iran, as an example of Ponti’s projects in the Middle Eastern context, the second part of this paper aims to reconsider and re-narrate Gio Ponti’s project in Tehran. In this context, the article sheds light on the nationally and internationally prominent concepts, ideas, collaborations, and design elements of Gio Ponti’s project in Tehran. The paper argues for reevaluating our understanding of heritage and recognizing the importance of preserving modern architectural masterpieces such as Villa Namazee.
