Exposure to microplastics in farmed animals can cause damage to gonadal cells and increase the level of aromatase in fish body so that the synthesis of androgens to become estrogene is higher. Cyp19b is a gene responsible for the synthesis of the aromatase enzyme which is related to the androgen hormone. The purpose of this study was to analyse the effect of giving polystyrene to catfish (C. gariepinus) feed on changes in the Cyp19b gene sequence. This research was descriptive experimental research. Results and observation data were analysed using a comparative descriptive method. The study was conducted by examining the brain of catfish (C. gariepinus) to determine changes in the Cyp19b gene sequence. The first step was to extract DNA from the gonads and fish brains, then examine the Cyp19b gene sequence. The next step was constructed a phylogenetic tree to determine if there is a change in kinship in the Cyp19b gene sequence. The results showed a trend towards changes in the Cyp19b gene sequence which can be described in a phylogenetic tree.

Koi Herpesvirus (KHV) has caused considerable losses in the cultivation of the Cyprinidae family ... more Koi Herpesvirus (KHV) has caused considerable losses in the cultivation of the Cyprinidae family worldwide. In addition to infecting Cyprinidae, KHV can also infect other freshwater fish. This study reports histopathology and ultrastructural analysis of KHV that infect Nile tilapia. Although there are no specific clinical symptoms, pathognomonic indicating Nile tilapia fish has been infected with KHV have been found, i.e. through the formation of intranuclear inclusion body and cell swelling which essentially experience chromatin margination. In addition, histopathology results indicate changes or damage to other tilapia tissue, i.e. necrosis, hypertrophy, edema, hemorrhage, inflammation, congestion, degeneration, and apoptosis. These results indicate that KHV has been distributed and replicated in tilapia organs. Based on the Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) analysis, KHV virions have been detected in the cytoplasm or outside the cells on a size of 150-170 nm.

Therefore, it is necessary to use alternative materials that can be used to eliminate A. hydrophila, one of which is to use herbal medicines. The purpose of this study was to determine the content of active compounds in mengkudu leaf extract (M. citrifolia) using the disc test method. To test the content of secondary metabolites, phytochemical testing and FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) were carried out. The results obtained are 100 ppm which is the minimum concentration that can inhibit the growth of A. hydrophila. Phytochemical test results obtained crude extract of positive mengkudu leaves alkaloids, saponins, triterpemoid and flavonoids. And in the FTIR test the most dominant content of phenol compounds contained in Mengkudu leaf extract which has a very important function that can be used as an antibacterial in this study. Further research is expected to carry out more in-depth characterization testing of active compounds through several tests including using LCMS or GCMS to determine the active ingredient of mengkudu leaves.
