Article ID: 885938 - Last Review: May 21, 2007 - Revision: 2.2 TIFF image files that are compressed in the JPEG format cannot be correctly opened by the Office Document Imaging tool in Office 2007 or Office 2003SYMPTOMSIn Microsoft Office 2007 and Microsoft Office 2003, some of the image files do not open correctly when you try to open image files. This behavior occurs when the following conditions are true:
CAUSEThis issue occurs because the improved Graphics Device Interface (GDI+) in Windows XP provides less support to read TIFF image files that are compressed in the JPEG format. In this scenario, the image file may not open correctly. WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, use the Microsoft Office Document Imaging tool to set the image color compression for images to lossless compression (LZW). To do this, follow these steps:
