In this work numerical investigation of mixed convection by non-concentric different positions of... more In this work numerical investigation of mixed convection by non-concentric different positions of rotating circular cylinder in square enclosure is investigated. The assumption of using six rotating cylinders at constant temperature Th and square closed enclosure with temperature Tc for all walls are maintained. Continuity, Momentum and energy governing equations are solved by using finite volume technique using Ansys-Fluent 16 commercial code with two dimension and steady state case. Richardson number (Ri=Gr/Re 2 ) varying over the wide range of 0.1, 1, 10,100, 1000 and ∞. This research investigate the effect of changing the rotating circular cylinder positions along the vertical centerline on the fluid flow and heat transfer inside the enclosure. Six different positions are tested. The phenomenon inside the square enclosure is mathematically analyzed. A streamlines, isothermal patterns, local Nusselt numbers, and average Nusselt numbers are calculated. The analytical results give that, the Richardson numbers is playing the dominant role on temperature distributions and flow patterns inside the enclosure. The average Nusselt number variation demonstrates the best location of rotating cylinder which gives best heat transfer value. The bottom left corner (P4) is the best location for hot rotating cylinders. While the rotating in middle right (P6) is the inferior position.

Optimization of Performance and Emission Responses for a CIE Run by Meoh/Biodiesel/Diesel Blends Utilizing Response Surface Methodology

The response surface methodology - central composite design matrix (RSM-CCD) is applied to make e... more The response surface methodology - central composite design matrix (RSM-CCD) is applied to make experiment design and response optimization for CIE engine fulled by different methanol-biodiesel-diesel blending ratios. The 5% biodiesel has enhanced methanol-diesel miscibility by about twelve folds. A full factorial design is employed to build the experimental tests of the performance and exhaust emissions for CIE run by methanol/biodiesel/diesel fuel. The statistical tests are used to check the significance of models by p-value test, adeq. Precision test, Predicted R2, and adjusted R2. With a maximum error of 6%, models of the BTE, CO, UHC, CO2, and NOX are showed a good agreement between predicted and experimental results. The optimization indicated that engine load is a master input factor affecting the responses.

Performance of a diesel engine running under butanol-diesel blends one of important cases to eval... more Performance of a diesel engine running under butanol-diesel blends one of important cases to evaluate the variance in the engine performance due to the fuel type change. Many efforts exerted in this field. Artificial neural network (ANN) model one of modern technique is used to predict the engine performance. ANN using a multi layer feed forward back propagation learning algorithm is developed to evaluate diesel engine performance. The brake efficiency, fuel consumption and exhaust temperature are predicted. The data required for training of ANN model are collected from experimental tests carried out on multi cylinder diesel engine. More than forty different architectures are tested for obtaining best fitting model. Maximum, minimum as well as average percentage errors are calculated for each architecture and R &  test is carried out to decide upon the best architecture for this model. The training process is set to stop when all errors are below 0.01 for training and below 3% for the validation. The results obtained from trained model are compared with experimental data of engine performance. The numerical investigation demonstrated that the ANN model is the best approach and assessment program for diesel engine performance with only 0.7% absolute average errors. The precise results of the model indicated an excellent and prompting training of ANN model.

Study on Combustion Performance of Diesel Engine Fueled by Synthesized Waste Cooking Oil Biodiesel Blends

The waste cooking oil or used cooking oil is the best source of biodiesel synthesizing because it... more The waste cooking oil or used cooking oil is the best source of biodiesel synthesizing because it enters into the so-called W2E field, whereas not only get rid of the used cooking oils, but produce energy from the waste fuel. In this paper, biodiesel was synthesized from the used cooking oil and specifications are tested. From 1 liter of used cooking oil, 940 ml is gained. The remaining of a liter is glycerine and water. A Blend of 20% of biodiesel with 80% of net diesel by volume is formed. Blends of 100% diesel and 100% biodiesel are prepared too. The diesel engine combustion performance such as Brake thermal efficiency, brake specific fuel consumption, volumetric efficiency, mean effective pressure, and engine outlet temperature are studied in this paper. Cylinder pressure variation with crank angle is analyzed. The concentrations of hydrocarbon and nitrogen pollutants are measured. The results showed a significant enhancement in engine power and pollutant gases emitted. There is positive compatible with other critical researchers.
