Bacterial wilt is one of the important diseases of tomatoes caused by Ralstonia solanacearum (Smi... more Bacterial wilt is one of the important diseases of tomatoes caused by Ralstonia solanacearum (Smith 1896) Yabuuchi et al. 1996. Its control can be achieved by applying secondary metabolites of Pseudomonas fluorescens Migula 1895 P60 in granular form. The study aimed to determine the shelf life of the secondary metabolites P. fluorescens P60' in granular form and its application to manage bacterial wilt and the performance of tomatoes. The study was conducted for five months at the Plant Protection Laboratory and Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. A randomized block design was used with four replicates and six treatments, consisting of R. solanacearum (control), R. solanacearum + 1, 5, 10, or 15 g, and bactericide (a.i. agrimycin sulphate 20%). Variables observed were inhibition zone, incubation period, disease intensity, the area under disease progress curve (AUDPC), crop height, crop fresh and dry weight, root fresh and dry weight, and phenolic compounds qualitatively. Results of the research showed that the granular formula until the 4 th week still had an inhibition zone between 21.67-23.34%. However, the granules stored for as much as 15 g for four weeks effectively reduced disease intensity by 75.00%, decreased AUDPC value by 74.72%, and increased plant height, root dry weight, and fresh crop weight as well 44, 62.5, and 65.65 %, respectively. In addition, the granular formula increased the content of tomato phenolic compounds qualitatively.

Application of raw secondary metabolites from two isolates of Trichoderma harzianum against anthr... more Application of raw secondary metabolites from two isolates of Trichoderma harzianum against anthracnose on red chili pepper in the field. Anthracnose on red chili pepper is one of the highly damaging diseases that difficult to control by pesticides. This study aimed to determine the effect of raw secondary metabolites isolated from two isolates of Trichoderma harzianum towards anthracnose as well as the growth and yield of red chili pepper plants in the field. The research used a randomized block design with five treatments and seven replicates. The treatments tested were control, raw secondary metabolites of T. harzianum T10 and T213, and their combination. The observed variables were incubation period, disease intensity, the late population density of T. harzianum, plant height, root length, fresh and dry weight of the plant and root, flowering time, number of fruits per plant, fresh weight of fruit, and phenolic compound content analysis. The result showed that the raw secondary metabolites from the combination of the two T. harzianum isolates were the best treatments that could lengthen the incubation period and decrease the disease intensity as 30.2 and 87.05%, respectively. However, these applications could not increase the growth components; while for the yield components, the application could improve the number of fruits per plant and fresh weight of fruit as 15.33 and 34.53%, respectively.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan isolat bakteri antagonis Bacillus sp. dan Pseudomonas ... more Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan isolat bakteri antagonis Bacillus sp. dan Pseudomonas fluorescens dari perakaran tanaman tomat yang secara in vitro memiliki kemampuan kitinolitik, mampu menekan Fusarium oxysporum pada tanaman tomat secara invitro, dan memiliki kemampuan untuk menekan penetasan telur nematoda. Penelitian dilakukan di Laboratorium Mikrobiologi Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Jenderal Soedirman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Bacillus sp. dan Pseudomonas fluorescens yang berasal dari perakaran tanaman tomat bersifat kitinolitik, (2) kedua bakteri tersebut dapat menekan pertumbuhan F. oxysporum secara invitro sebesar 3,22-66,67%, dan (3) kedua bakteri tersebut secara in vitro dapat menghambat penetasa telur Meloidogyne sebesar 17,15-64,85%.

Factorial Completely Randomized Design has been used in this research. There were paddy husk and legume ash as organic ash factor, and T. harzianum and G. virens as antagonistic fungi factor. The result showed that combination of antagonistic fungi (T. harzianum and G. virens) and organic ash (paddy husk and legume ash) could suppress the disease growth, incubation period, disease severity, and disease rate. The effectiveness of the combination were about 36.79-43.30%.

Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui kemampuan empat isolat Trichoderma harzianum dalam mengomposkan l... more Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui kemampuan empat isolat Trichoderma harzianum dalam mengomposkan limbah sayur, isolat T. harzianum terbaik pada pengomposan limbah sayur, dan isolat T. harzianum terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman mentimun in planta. Penelitian dilaksanakan di rumah kaca dan Laboratorium Perlindungan Tanaman, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Purwokerto selama lima bulan. Rancangan Acak Kelompok digunakan dengan empat ulangan dan kombinasi antara empat isolat T. harzianum (T10, T213, T14, dan T15) dengan dua limbah sayur (kubis dan tomat). Variabel yang diamati adalah panjang tanaman, bobot tanaman segar, bobot tanaman kering, panjang akar, jumlah daun, pH akhir kompos, C/N ratio kompos, kepadatan akhir T. harzianum, kegigasan T. harzianum, dan analisis jaringan secara kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keempat isolat T. harzainum efektif dan cepat dalam mengkomposkan limbah tomat dan kubis. Isolat T. harzianum yang paling baik pada pengomposan adalah T10 dan T213. Aplikasi kompos limbah mampu meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman mentimun. Isolat terbaik adalah T. harzianum T16 pada kompos tomat dan T10 pada kompos kubis dalam meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman mentimun pada panjang tanaman, panjang akar, bobot tanaman segar, dan bobot tanaman kering dengan peningkatan masing-masing 66,61 dan 52,17%,

Pseudomonas fluorescens P8 merupakan bakteri antagonis yang terbaik untuk mengendalikan penyakit layu tomat dengan menekan masa inkubasi 95,39%, intensitas penyakit 69,95%, dan tingkat kerusakan akar karena nematode, serta untuk meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman dengan meningkatkan bobot segar tanaman 52,80 %, bobot akar tanaman 47,48%, dan jumlah buah 58,86%.

Entrepreneurship is needed by strawberry farmers in Serang Village to face future challenges. This research aims to; 1) identify the internal and external entrepreneurial characteristics of strawberry farmers, and 2) analyze the influence of entrepreneurial characteristics on the entrepreneurial behavior of strawberry farmers. Respondents were determined using the census method, namely all 40 farmers who did strawberry farming. Data analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Partial Least Squares. The results of the study show several characteristics which are internal and external entrepreneurship. The characteristics of internal entrepreneurship are reflected by indicators of farming experience as well as age, education, and extroversion. Meanwhile, external entrepreneurial characteristics are reflected by the economic, social, physical, and institutional environments. In addition, the results also show that the characteristics of internal and external entrepreneurial characteristics of strawberry farmers have a positive and significant influence on entrepreneurial behavior. The results of this study indicate that level of institutional awareness needs to be increased in collaboration of strawberry farmers, even though strawberry farmers are independent, but to increase maximum yields certain parties are needed to help them.

Therefore, this study aims to map the soil nutrient contents at some banana plantation center and determine the effect of nutrient availability on the incidence of banana bunchy top disease (BBTD). This study set a purposive sampling according to the banana cultivation distribution to gain soil samples and data on BBTD incidence. Soil samples were analyzed for macronutrient content, including N capacity using the Kjeldahl method, Bray method for P analysis, and CH4OAc methods for K analysis. According to the investigation, the range of total N was 0.2% to 0.75%, showing BBTD incidence from 5.8% to 9.47%, respectively. Merr.), pengaruh waktu perendaman terhadap perkecambahan biji aren, dan interaksi antara berbagai konsentrasi dan waktu perendaman pada perkecambahan aren. Preliminary morphological results showed five acessions were positively infected with slight to severe intensity symptoms i.e. Pisang Berlin, Candi, Billa, Morosebo, and Mas Kripik; and five accessions were symptomless i.e. M. acuminata var. rutilifes and M. balbisiana, Pisang Ebung, Madu and Moseng. However, PCR results qualitatively confirms that all accessions were positively infected. Two sizes of amplicons were identified. Pisang Candi isolate was showing ±500 bp amplicons, whereas the others were ±1000-1100 bp. Pengendalian hayati dengan menggunakan bakteri antagonis seperti Bacillus sp. merupakan alternatif pengendalian yang potensial dan ramah lingkungan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan Bacillus sp. dalam mengendalikan penyakit layu fusarium pada tanaman tomat di lapangan. Percobaan menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok dengan 5 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan, meliputi: kontrol, Bacillus sp. B42, Bacillus sp. B64, gabungan Bacillus sp. B42 dan B64, serta fungisida. This research was conducted to evaluate the effect of P. fluorescens P60 in controlling Fusarium wilt on tomato and its inhibition mechanisms.
