The emphasis is set on their motivation for choosing this major, the difficulties they face, as well as their goals for future realization. Most of the information was gathered through surveys, interviews, and questionnaires conducted with Chinese students. Based on the results of the survey, Chinese students usually start learning Bulgarian by chance, but in the process of education, they develop a long-lasting and deep interest. Despite the difficulties that they face, their
motivation is high enough to continue forward and to overcome the problems.

of Han Dong as a model of triple identifi cation. The fi rst possible identification is that between the character and his ancestors. It is supposed what would have happened if he were at their place. The difference is in the decisions that they made, but still the possibility that they could have made the same choice is available. This leads to the second identifi cation – with the descendant, who is going to reach the sea. He also would be identical with the character. The last identifi cation is in the end of the poem. This is the counterfactual situation in which the character himself reaches the sea. The main topic of this paper is the question: is it possible to identify one character with himself
in an alternative situation? In searching for an answer will be applied David Lewis’s theories of counterfactuals and possible worlds.

Kaiyue Zhang & Hristina Teodosieva
In recent years, the number of Chinese university students learning Bulgarian and Bulgarian university students learning Chinese has increased due to the growing cooperation and exchange between Bulgaria and China. However, both groups face significant challenges in learning these languages. This article employs questionnaires and comparative analysis to investigate the foreign language learning experiences of Chinese and Bulgarian university students. The findings indicate that the primary factors contributing to these difficulties are rooted in linguistic differences between Chinese and Bulgarian, including phonetics, verb morphology, tense systems, and writing systems. These differences pose substantial challenges for learners from both groups. Furthermore, the article compares and analyzes the results of the two experiments to provide a deeper regional analysis of the learning challenges and offers recommendations that can serve as a practical foundation for improving the teaching and learning of Chinese and Bulgarian languages in the future.
