These views seem to be inconsistent and inconclusive according to some researchers. Why are the views not convincing? What are the possible causes of the inconsistency? Reviewing relevant literature through a systematic approach, it was gathered that various studies approached the subject through different individual attributes of corporate governance with different methodologies in different situations. The works show impact-degreerelationship or directional-relationship or no relationship. It was also found that researchers hardly considered environmental factors in the governance-performance relationship discourse. The study therefore proposes the application of systems thinking perspectives for future studies on the subject. This study corroborates the claim that there exist a relationship between corporate governance and organizational performance. It identifies the lack of standard elements for measuring corporate governance as the possible cause of the inconsistency. Contributing, the study attempted to classify the conclusions of identified works into three assertions to buttress the argument in favour of governance and performance relationship. The study suggests that policy makers and practitioners should take keen interest in not only board attributes but other factors within the organizational environment to identify, analyse, appreciate and address all possible challenges.

Given this, several studies have been done to find out the kind of individuals who are likely to have indicators of financial inclusion such as ownership of savings accounts among others. However, it has been observed that certain individuals tend to have multiple savings accounts in which very little is known in the literature about the features of such individuals and why. This study therefore purposively sampled 200 adult respondents in the Kumasi Metropolis of Ghana with at least one account in any formal institution, in order to investigate the determinants of more than one or multiple personal financial accounts holding. The study employed the binary logit model as the empirical estimation technique. The study therefore found that, most respondents chose enjoyment of several benefits as the most important reason they own more than one personal account. From the regression estimates, the stu...

Using Integrative Review approach, the study sought to review literature on corporate governance in local governments of the public sector. The results, according to the frame of the study based on selected literature revealed that most studies focused on one rather than two or more countries, there appeared to be less quantitative studies than qualitative studies, there seemed to be more reviews on the subject than empirical studies. The study confirms that public sector corporate governance as a concept is receiving some attention in both practice and literature.

But how many councilors have the expertise for such and other functions? This case study attempts to find an answer to the question by investigating and drawing a correlation between competency independence and function of councillors. To achieve the study objectives, both elected and appointed councillors were purposively sampled across six local governments to respond to a structured questionnaire. Using the Structural Equation Model with Smart PLS 3 for data and constructs correlation analysis, the study results indicated more than 50 percent of councilors were competent and independent and also suggested strong relationships between councillor competency, independence and function. The study may be relevant to researchers, professionals and policy makers. It recommends regular leadership and capacity training for co...

The integrated platform will help the Pension Contributor"s and Pensioner"s access some services online irrespective of their geographical location. The platform will also help the government to take strategic economic planning decisions on its citizens aging towards retirement. The research examined the relationship among the perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, attitude towards using the integrated pension system and the intention to use the integrated pension system. These entire constructs were tested and proved to be statistically positive and had positive relationships with the use of the integrated cloud based pension systems. The system was developed using simulation tools. In spite of the high cost of integrating these pension schemes onto a single platform, its attendant benefit will significantly outweigh its cost implication. The research adds value to the use of technology in distributed computing and the result recommends the integration and implementation of the system into the National Pension Regulatory Authority (NPRA) functions in Ghana to enjoy its adherent benefits. This research recommends further studies that tackle the security techniques in protecting client"s data in other disciplines.

Base on the report of the 2014 Global Findex Database, the paper analyses the determinants of Financial Inclusion in China in general and touches on some reasons for those outcomes. Also, researchers determine financial inclusion indicators and depth for foreigners in China. Questionnaires on Financial Inclusion indicators and individual characteristics are administered to foreigners in China and observe that foreigners largely have access to basic banking services as a transaction account from their banks. Largely, foreigners are satisfied with their bank's services; however, they feel limited in their inability to acquire some sophisticated banking services except for basic service. Observation is made that Wechat and Alipay Payment Services remain the most accessed and used financial services platform which provide the most depth financial access and usage without limitation for foreigners in China, hence foreigners relies mostly on the two services than their traditional bank for their financial transactions.

A good night or good sleep is a great determinant of one’s ability to function effectively and efficiently during the daytime events. Objective: The main objective of this study is to ascertain the effect of the use of smart mobile devices on sleep quality that may lead to insomnia. It verifies whether the frequent use of smart mobile devices have any effects on sleeping habits that lead to any sleeping disorder. Method: A cross-sectional study design was used to assess the evidence of relationship between smart mobile device usage and sleep duration, subjective sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, and sleep quality index, of respondents as well as their demographic characteristics. The Pittsburgh University Sleep Quality Index was used to determine the score of respondents’ sleep quality level. The research was conducted in Ghana among Health Trainees from different programmes of study com...

Insufficient or poor sleep quality has a substantial risk influence on academic performance. Good sleep quality is essential for recovery. Information used in this review paper was mainly obtained from scientific electronic academic journal databases. Studies have revealed that medical students who performed worse in their medical board exams mostly sleep poorly. Most of these students who performed worse in their exams seem to suffer stress as a result of poor sleep quality. University students, especially, medical students are most vulnerable to poor sleep quality. This review explores the major effects of sleep quality in relation to academic performance of students, especially, adolescents and young adults from primary to tertiary education levels as discussed by different authors. The extant literature seems to ...

It is noted that a well-formed media system, which teaches and informs its citizens enhances good governance and democracy. This might be the reason why Thomas Jefferson, former president of USA stated in a speech that he would prefer a press without government to a government without a press. There exists some research on the relationship between media and governments but it appears to be lack of interest in exploring the symbiosis between local media and local government. Meanwhile, literature shows a positive role of local government too: it promotes grassroots participation in governance, democracy and development like media. No wonder the twin has been a public concern in recent times. Hence, this study attempts to review the relationship between the two by exploring the theories of media and local government, history and reforms towards local government and media development in Ghana as well ...
