Powder Technology, 2020

The influence of a reduction of the pressure on the dewatering process was also taken into account. The results obtained for the screening operation without pressure reduction indicate that the minimum residual moisture content was reached with a g-force of 3.0, screen inclination of 1.5°, and volumetric concentration of 6.0%. Additionally, the use of pressure reduction with a sieve allows for the lowest residual moisture content with a g-force of 3.0, 3.0° screen inclination, and 6.0% volumetric concentration. The major influence of pressure reduction in the residual moisture content was observed for the experiments with 2.0% of volumetric concentration, the lowest level adopted for this variable in the experimental design.

Lab Scale Vibrating Screen Study on Operational Variables that Affect the Separation Efficiency
Materials Science Forum, 2017

This work evaluates the effects of the independent variables: proportion of particles larger than the screen aperture size, average feed rate and g-force on the separation efficiency of coarse particles in a lab scale vibrating screening, where the material to be screened was phosphate rock, with density of 3.25 g/cm3 and particle size range of 0.6–600 μm. For this, a central composite design (CCD) was applied to quantify the main effects of the variables. As a result, the average feed rate was not relevant and the proportion of coarse particles and the g-force contributed positively to the increase of the efficiency. The point where the variables have their highest values, the maximum experimental efficiency was observed (94.93%).

This paper presents a study of the dynamics of the mixture on the screen during solid-liquid separation using vibration screening. The independent variables studied were g-force, volumetric concentration of solids in the feed, feed flow rate and inclination of the screen. The equipment used was a vibrating screen of 175 mesh with 95 μm aperture size. The evaluated response variables were the residual moisture content of the retained solids, the screen area occupied by the liquid, the transport velocity of the retained solids and the screen area occupied by the retained solids. The solid material used was sand with a density of 2.67 g/cm 3 and a Sauter mean diameter of 373 μm, and the liquid phase was composed of water containing 0.1% xanthan gum. A central composite design was applied to the experiments and the results for each response were analyzed statistically. It was possible to verify that the increase in the g-force and screen inclination variables increased the operational capacity, since the areas occupied by the liquid and the retained solids were reduced. It was also found that higher volumetric concentrations of solids in the feed favored a reduction in the moisture content of the retained solids and their transport on the screen, since larger particulate material conglomerates were formed, which had a more uniform displacement path.

It is presented the development of a computational algorithm, to be executed in a personal computer, which takes into account the operating conditions of a stationary autoclave, in order to calculate the thermal diffusivity. A mathematical model was used to predict the temporal evolution of temperature inside the food. The computational performance of algorithm proposed is evaluated by comparing their results with those obtained experimentally. Based on the temperature profile simulated was possible to estimate the average overall thermal diffusivity. The algorithm proposed was tested on basis of commercial applications (AUTOMATE®, EXCEL®, EES®) and showed consistent performance, allowing its use as a tool to support the process development in the area of food engineering

The aim of this work was to evaluate the development of P. fluorescens on the stainless steel surface, to analyze the CIP (clean in place) hygiene considering different geometries, to investigate the flow fluid dynamics and to determine the consumption of the inputs in this process. A circulation line with the characteristics of a dairy was used. The surface sampling was done using the swab technique and the performance of the process was evaluated based on decimal reductions considering the initial population adhered. The fluid dynamics study was carried out with FLUENT software and the consumption was determined by means of flow and electric current sensors. The results showed that P. fluorescens adhered to the surface reaching an average of 4.31 ± 0.26 log CFU∙cm-2, with the production of exopolysaccharides during usual time of industry operation....

O problema e...

Using empirical models obtained from the response to the tests applied to the analyzed processes, the predictive controller adequately made up for the delays and strong existing interactions, reducing the most significant variations for the processes considered. The multivariable predictive controller employed made use of quadratic and/or linear programming to optimize the “cost” functions of causticizing and lime kiln processes. The advanced control system used the association of rule based structures (Fuzzy Logic) for the causticizing and lime kiln processes. The real-time inference of the quality parameter “causticizing efficiency” was made by using the Neural Network. From comparing the results thus obtained to the previously practiced mode of operation it was found out that the implementation of the advanced control system suggested in this paper led...
