The objective of this research is to identify the most consumed products by fans of the top four ... more The objective of this research is to identify the most consumed products by fans of the top four soccer teams in Rio de Janeiro and, using statistical methods such as ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis and t-Test for a difference in mean, evaluate whether such fans associate higher prices with products that expose the symbols of the clubs they cheer for. With a sample of 183 soccer fans, it was noticed that the perception of value is similar for almost all products, regardless of the preferred teams. The exception are coats, for which the fans of Fluminense and Flamengo were willing to spend more than the others. It is not possible to assert that any fan of some carioca team usually buys products from his/her team in greater proportion than the rivals. The most purchased products are the antique shirt, the champion ribbon and the official shirt, raising managerial implications for companies in the analyzed market.

Managing and measuring value co-creation in industrial services are emerging themes from the pers... more Managing and measuring value co-creation in industrial services are emerging themes from the perspective of industry and scientific research. Thus, this chapter aims to review the literature in order to identify the criteria for value co-creation management and measuring used to measure value co-creation in the industrial service ecosystem. To achieve this goal, the authors conducted a systematic literature review and a content analysis of the portfolio resulting from the review. Based on the findings, eight criteria were listed for managing value co-creation in the B2B (business-to-business) services sector. In addition, they identified a lack of limited integration and interdependence between the criteria shown in the literature for cooperative service management among companies.

Considering that many macroeconomic time series present changing seasonal behaviour, there is a n... more Considering that many macroeconomic time series present changing seasonal behaviour, there is a need for filters that are robust to such changes. This article proposes a method to design seasonal filters that address this problem. The design was made in the frequency domain to estimate seasonal fluctuations that are spread around specific bands of frequencies. We assessed the generated filters by applying them to artificial data with known seasonal behaviour based on the ones of the real macroeconomic series, and we compared their performance with the one of X-13A-S. The results have shown that the designed filters have superior performance for series with pronounced moving seasonality, being a good alternative in these cases.

Este trabalho investiga a relação entre o investimento em defesa e a economia, utilizando o teste de causalidade de Granger. Para isso, são analisados os dados de investimento em defesa, produto interno bruto e formação bruta de capital fixo de seis países. São eles: Brasil, China, Estados Unidos da América, França, Reino Unido e Rússia. Os resultados indicam relação de causalidade (no sentido de Granger) em alguns desses países.

Apresenta-se o turismo, hoje, como um setor capaz de promover a aceleração econômica e o incremento nas áreas social, cultural e ambiental. No entanto a opção pelo desenvolvimento econômico por meio do turismo é mais complexa do que parece, pois, além de ser uma atividade multissetorial, provoca, com o seu desenvolvimento, impactos ambientais, sociais e econômicos, necessitando, assim, de políticas públicas eficazes para que possa ser sustentável a longo prazo. Assim, o tratamento econômico direcionado ao turismo exige o conhecimento detalhado dos impactos econômicos derivados da atividade, uma vez que os turistas gastam o seu dinheiro em uma ampla variedade de mercadorias e serviços. O presente estudo apresenta, pois, um modelo de análise do impacto econômico direto do turismo na cidade do Rio de Janeiro, percorrendo-se os principais indicadores econômicos. O modelo proposto é uma extensão do modelo elaborado por Stynes (1999), amplamente aplicado em estudos internacionais para mensurar o impacto econômico do setor de turismo. Dessa forma, é possível proporcionar aos gestores públicos uma visão econômica da atividade turística, possibilitando a formulação de políticas públicas para o desenvolvimento da atividade.

This article examines the interactions between firm-level technological capabilities and supporting organisations of the innovation system drawing on a sample of forty-six firms and twenty-nine innovation system supporting organisations in northern Brazil. The study has found different types and levels of production-based and innovative capabilities in association with a large variety of knowledge-centred links established by firms with supporting organisations of the local innovation system. On the one hand such findings contribute to adding some new empirical evidence to the study of innovation systems in developing locations. On the other hand they contradict common perspectives that hold that such systems hardly exist in developing contexts. This study investigates the residents' perceptions of Rio de Janeiro regarding the impacts of Rio... more This study investigates the residents' perceptions of Rio de Janeiro regarding the impacts of Rio 2016 Olympic Games. For the first time, a country in South America was chosen to host this megaevent, being a great opportunity to track residents' perception and cover a gap in longitudinal studies involving residents in developing countries and its impacts on the host city. A face-to-face quantitative survey was conducted over three years, with a total of 1,211 interviewees in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The population perceived positively mainly an improvement in urban mobility and an increase in tourism; but, negatively, the misuse of public resources, increase in prices, and non-lasting legacies that critically affected the image of the destination post-Olympics. Resumo Este estudo analisa as percepções dos residentes do Rio de Janeiro em relação aos impactos dos Jogos Olímpicos Rio 2016. Pela primeira vez, um país da América do Sul foi escolhido para sediar esse megaevento, sendo uma ótima oportunidade para rastrear a percepção da população local e cobrir uma lacuna em estudos longitudinais envolvendo residentes em países em desenvolvimento e seus impactos na cidade-sede. Um levantamento quantitativo face a face foi realizado ao longo de três anos, com um total de 1.211 entrevistados na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. A população percebeu positivamente principalmente uma melhoria na mobilidade urbana e um aumento no turismo; mas, negativamente, o uso indevido de recursos públicos, aumento de preços e legados não duráveis que afetaram criticamente a imagem do destino pós-Olimpíadas.
