Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Spanish Government created the "Health-Aid" internship: A paid alternative to curricular internships. There is extensive evidence that paid work environments perpetuate negative attitudes towards LGBTI patients.

Although RDS is usually done face-to-face, the online version (WebRDS) has drawn a lot of attention as it has many potential benefits, despite this, to date there is no clear framework for its implementation. This article aims to provide guidance for researchers who want to recruit through a WebRDS. Methods Description of the development phase: guidance is provided addressing aspects related to the formative research, the design of the questionnaire, the implementation of the coupon system using a free software and the diffusion plan, using as an example a web-based cross-sectional study conducted in Spain between April and June 2022 describing the working conditions and health status of homecare workers for dependent people. Results The application of the survey: we discuss about the monitoring strategies throughout the recruitment proce...

Implementation of Assisted Dying in Catalonia: Impact on Professionals and Development of Good Practices. Protocol for a Qualitative Study

There is no information available about the experiences of the professionals participating in the process of implementing the law in our country, nor any guide as to what might represent good practices in euthanasia in the context of the Mediterranean countries. Due to the complexity of the concepts often associated with assisted dying processes (such as suffering, dignity and moral compass), it is essential that systematic and detailed research be conducted on how professionals understand their experiences of euthanasia, and that it be conducted during the initial stages. We intend to carry out a qualitative study with a constructionist orientation to gain insight to the social constructs underlying professionals’ initial experiences. It consists of a series of in-depth interviews conducted in t...

(2016) about nurses' roles in screening for intimate partner violence (IPV). Hindering screening practice was related to inadequacy of knowledge of IPV and nurses prioritized medical care over safety and screening, unawareness of nurses' roles, hospital protocols and policies of IPV. Al-Natour et al. (2016) were focused on registered nurses but student nurses have a similar problem: they are not able to recognize violence against women (Tamba g & Turan 2015). That nurses and student nurses do not recognize, or not screen or remain indifferent, might suggest that violence is not an issue from health professionals' point of view because medical care is prioritized or they do not have enough knowledge to handle it (Al-Natour et al. 2016; Garc ıa-Moreno 2002). Different studies emphasized that health workers have to be trained in order to enhance their skills to help abused women (Bohn et al. 2002; Williamson 2000). In the WHO Multi-country Study on Women's Health and Domestic Violence Against Women, 3-24% of women reported that their first sexual experience was forced, and it happened during adolescence (Garc ıa-Moreno 2002), when most of them were dating. Dating violence refers to physical or sexual violence occurring in the context of a 'dating relationship'. A dating relationship occurs during adolescence and young adulthood. These range from casual first encounters to longer term sexual partnerships. The prevalence of dating violence among adolescents is 20% among female high school students (Silverman et al. 2001). Although training of nurses and nursing students on identifying and caring for any kind of violence (IPV, dating violence) is needed the provision of school educational programs should also be required. Young people should be trained to give them some skills to detect and manage dating violence (Nagamatsu et al. 2016). 'Sigues tu' is a Catalan programme whose aim is to facilitate the learning of ten basic skills for life proposed by WHO: self-knowledge, creative thinking, critical thinking, decision-making, empathy, handling of emotions and feelings, stress management and stress, assertive communication, interpersonal relationships, problem solving and conflict (Dipsalut 2010). One of materials used in this programme 'Retomemos.. . Una propuesta sextimental' ('Let's go back.. .

An online, cross-sectional study was conducted with 405 men recruited from an Argentinian NGO in 2017. Risk discordance (RD) was defined as the expression of the underestimation of risk, that is, as a lower self-perception of HIV risk, as measured with the Perceived Risk of HIV Scale, than the current risk of HIV infection, as measured by the HIV Incidence Risk Index. Multivariate logistic regression models were used to analyze the associations between the RD and the explanatory variables. High HIV risk was detected in 251 (62%), while 106 (26.2%) showed high self-perceived risk. RD was found in 230 (56.8%) YMSM. The predictors that increased RD were consistent condom use with casual partners (aOR = 3.8 [CI 95:1.5–11.0]), the use of Growler to meet partners (aOR = 10.38 [CI 95:161–121.94]), frequenting ga...

Evaluate the barriers and the facilitators for reproductive decision-making. Identify areas of strength, improvement, and those requiring further research. Systematic review following the PRISMA guideline. PubMed, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library, SocINDEX, Embase, and Scopus databases were searched from 1985 to 2016 using the following Keywords: HIV, AIDS, pregnancy, reproduction, and decision-making. A total of 42 research papers were included in this review. Initially, 1563 papers were identified for the review by database (n=1544) and hand (n=19) searches. With three review levels, 1521 papers were excluded (title review, n=1272; abstract review, n=136; and full paper review, n=113). In the context of classical time series analysis, a possible choice might be intervention analysis, but there is no analogous methodology developed for low-count time series. In this article, we propose a modified INAR model that allows us to quantify the effect of an intervention, and is also capable of taking into account possible trends or seasonal behaviour. Several examples of application in different real and simulated contexts will also be discussed.

Seven focus groups of women aged 40-69 years (n = 39) and two groups of healthcare professionals (n = 23) were conducted in Catalonia and the Canary Islands. The focus groups consisted of guided discussions regarding decision-making about breast cancer screening, and acceptability and feasibility of the decision aid. A content analysis was performed. Women positively value receiving information regarding the benefits and harms of breast cancer screening. Several women had difficulties understanding some concepts, especially those regarding overdiagnosis. Women preferred to share the decisions on screening with healthcare professionals. The professionals noted the lack of inclusion of some harms and benefits in the decision aid, and proposed improving the clarity of the statistical information. The information on overdiagnosis generates confusion among women and controversy among professionals. Faced with the new information presented by the decision aid, the majority of women prefer shared decision-making; however, its feasibility might be limited by a lack of knowledge and attitudes of rejection from healthcare professionals.

The lack of recommendation from healthcare providers conditions non-vaccination in pregnant women. The purpose was to determine the knowledge, perceptions, attitudes and practices of midwives regarding maternal influenza and pertussis vaccination. A qualitative descriptive study based on semi-structured, face-to-face interviews with seventeen midwives was conducted, including purposive sampling and thematic analyses. Midwives had disparate knowledge and perceptions about the severity of influenza and pertussis in pregnant women, and influenza was not considered very serious. The vaccines were generally considered safe. However, because midwives did not have enough information about the safety of the influenza vaccine, there was a tendency not to recommend it. While most midwives had a positive attitude toward vaccination, their advocation for vaccination against influenza was ...
