The energy demand depends on the driving behavior, e.g., departure/arrival times, distances and routes traveled, and are normally not modeled in power system simulation. Charging algorithms which control the charging power may adversely influence the range. A realistic simulation setup of the electric vehicle's energy demand needs to incorporate transportation simulation, where the discharging is also modeled. To overcome the shortcomings of traditional power system simulation, the dynamically coupled simulation environment presented is able to model the charging and discharging process. Examples show the applications of dynamic simulation: utilization of charging points, intelligent charging management, impact on voltage symmetry and large scale EV activity.

The U-CREATE project aims at efficient content creation for new technologies, in particular interactive setups, Mixed Reality experiences and location-based services. A graphical authoring tool is developed to allow one to create elaborated contents in a fast and easy way. The present paper introduces the tool and elaborates on its main components, which allow the user to author an interactive story and also to manage the connected interaction devices.

The process from the proof-of-concept to the prototype and finally to the realization and the advantage of testing in a real-time simulation environment is demonstrated by an example use case in the safety critical domain of electric power systems -the coordinated voltage controller of the DG-DemoNet project. The possibilities and advantages of controller-hardwarein-the-loop (C-HIL) concepts compared to offline simulation are discussed.

Motivated by the need for simulation and emulation of networked smart grid systems with interlinked controller, communication and power hardware components, this paper proposes a solution for loose coupling of heterogeneous components (i.e. continuous and time-triggered subsystems). The focus is on a lightweight message bus, allowing multiple simulators to exchange the same messages like in the real system. The architecture allows fast configuration and easy switching between emulated and real-world components. The solution is applied and verified in the context of a Smart Grid application. Photovoltaic inverters in a distribution grid are coordinated with a central onload tap change transformer in order to keep the grid voltages within the limits set by operation rules.

The backup system consists of a PV array, a vanadium redox flow battery (VRB), the consumer load and a battery/energy-management as part of the power conversion unit which controls the system operation. Three modes of operation have been studied in detail: peak shaving, power feed-in and the increasing of self-sufficiency.

This is done by means of multi-agent micro simulation of the traffic patterns based on statistical data. Additionally the temperature influence has been modelled to determine demand dependency on the season. As a use case the uncontrolled and controlled charging of multi-storage car parks with over 3300 vehicles are compared, when the maximum obtained power from the grid is limited and additional local generation with PV is available. Simulations show that controlled chargingwhile reducing the maximum power from the grid drasticallyhas nearly no negative effect on the resulting charged energy and thus range of the vehicles when departing.

For better understanding and modeling of low voltage networks, the Power Snap Shot method has been developed. This work describes the principles of the information and communication system to automatically manage the measurement data and analyze the grid models by means of automated load flow simulation.
