We propagate an atomic wavepacket in a gravitational cavity which is modulated by means of an ext... more We propagate an atomic wavepacket in a gravitational cavity which is modulated by means of an external periodic driving force. We show that in classical evolution it displays classical chaos, whereas in the quantum domain the wavepacket exhibits dynamical localization. Moreover, we also find dynamical revivals in the quantum evolution and prove that this is a generic characteristics of all driven systems. We theoretically investigate the phenomenon of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) of ... more We theoretically investigate the phenomenon of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) of a weak probe field in hybrid optomechanics with a single three-level ($\Lambda$-type) atomic system. We report that, in the presence of optomechanical coupling and two transition coupling parameters of three-level atom (TLA), there occurs three distinct multiple EIT windows in the probe absorption spectrum. Moreover, we find that double and single EIT windows can be obtained by controlling the system parameters. Furthermore, the probe transmission spectrum have been studied. Based on our analytical and numerical work, we explain the enhancement of fast light (superluminal behaviour) in the probe field transmission. This work demonstrate great potential in multi-channel waveguide, fiber optics and classical communication networks, multi-channel quantum information processing, real quality imaging, cloaking devices and delay lines & optical buffers for telecommunication.

Single Phonon State of Mechanical Mode via Photon Subtraction

We prepare single phonon Fock state of mechanical mode in opto-mechanical system based on photon ... more We prepare single phonon Fock state of mechanical mode in opto-mechanical system based on photon subtraction process in the linear regime of opto-mechanical interaction. The correlation set between cavity and field modes is utilized to recast the state of a pre-cooled mechanical mode into a single phonon Fock state as the field mode is subjected to a photon subtraction type measurement at a dynamical instant of interaction time. The resultant conditional state of mechanical mode is quantified by its Wigner function, and exhibits an excellent compatibility with the state of a single phonon Fock state. We confirm the nature of obtained state by calculating the phonon statistics, and conditional fidelity which approaches to unity for an instantaneous measurement time within an appropriate choice of parametric regime. Entanglement generation from deformed spin coherent states using a beam splitter

Using the linear entropy as a measure of entanglement, we investigate the effect of a beam splitt... more Using the linear entropy as a measure of entanglement, we investigate the effect of a beam splitter on the Perelomov coherent states for the q-deformed U q (su(2)) algebra. We distinguish two cases: in the classical q → 1 limit, we find that the states become Glauber coherent states as the spin tends to infinity; whereas for q = 1, the states, contrary to the earlier case, become entangled as they pass through a beam splitter. The entanglement strongly depends on the q-deformation parameter and the amplitude Z of the state.

Determination of natural and anthropogenic radionuclides in soil—results of an European Union comparison

A comparison was organised by the Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM) among... more A comparison was organised by the Institute for Reference Materials and Measurements (IRMM) among 73 environmental radioactivity monitoring laboratories for the determination of 15 radionuclides in soil. The reference material IAEA-375 soil was reprocessed to provide the comparison material and reference values traceable to SI units and SIR were established at IRMM. The analytical procedures used by participants laboratories are discussed and performances evaluted using relative deviations and E(n) numbers. This paper focuses on the results for (40)K, (90)Sr, (137)Cs, (226)Ra, (234)U, (235)U and (238)U. Worst performance was found for (90)Sr and (235)U, where 65% and 78% of the results, respectively, deviate more than 20% from the reference values. The use of the E(n) criterion revealed that the uncertainty estimation of many participants is poor.
