Analysis of passive compensation for linear and non linear SOP on standard single mode optical fiber

The states of polarization (SOP) were analysed and the six main states normally used for QKD system are investigated. Passive control of SOP approach seems very unpractical, but through simple setup, compensation at each communicating arm seems to be a potential method. The results show that the SOP state remains similar to the source after compensation and the passive compensation setup compensate all 6 SOPs source value over time. We achieved to maintain the related stoke value (S1, S2, S3) at each SOP state above 93%.

The price of CMA from petroleum-derived acetic acid is quite expensive. The bamboo vinegar is the by-product from bamboo charcoal production. The bamboo vinegar was used to prepare calcium acetate as raw materials, and its deicing and corrosive performances were studied in this paper. The results show that the freezing temperature of calcium acetate is lower than that of sodium chloride when they have same molar concentration, the deicing performance of calcium acetate is better than that of sodium chloride when they have same moles, while the deicing performance of sodium chloride is better than that of calcium acetate. The corrosion of sodium chloride on iron-nail and steel-nail is larger than that of calcium acetate whether they have same mass concentration or same molar concentration, and the corrosion of sodium chloride and calcium acetate on iron-nail is larger than that on steel-nail, and calcium acetate almost hasn't corrosion on steel-nail.

Twenty-two stable output laser lines with 10.88-GHz (0.088-nm) line spacing at 1558 nm were obtained from this architecture without the need of internal feedback. A low threshold of 4-mW pump power with 2.3-mW launched Brillouin pump at 1558 nm was obtained. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Characterization of four states polarization flipper for single photon application

Visibility of nearly 90% and above was achieved for each four linear polarization input states. A good polarization contrast between not flipped and flipped states shows that this configuration can be applied for single photon applications.
Characterization of mean photon number for key distribution system using faint laser

In experimental key distribution system, it is highly demanded to use single-photon source for secure key distribution. Since there is not yet a laser source capable of producing such faint state, most experiments uses low coherent pulse laser, which is attenuated to produce a mean photon number mu. In this paper, we present an experimental setup to determine the mean photon number using a 300-ps low coherent pulse laser at 1550 nm for a practical crypto system. We will also present the effect of trigger frequency, detection efficiency and dark counts on average photon counts.

We experimentally demonstrate a simple method for generating a multiwavelength Brillouin comb by ... more We experimentally demonstrate a simple method for generating a multiwavelength Brillouin comb by utilizing a linear cavity of hybrid Brillouin-erbium fiber lasers (BEFLs). The optimization of Brillouin pump wavelength, power, and erbium gain played a significant role in determining the maximum number of Brillouin Stokes signals generated. Simultaneous and stable multiple-wavelength laser output of 22 lines with 10.88-GHz channel spacing has been obtained with good flatness. Various parameters such as 980-nm pump power, Brillouin pump wavelength, and Brillouin pump power that affect the performance of a multiwavelength BEFL system have been investigated. An analysis of the tuning range of the system is presented.

A total of 15 Stokes were achieved as compared with seven in a system without the band-pass filter. The efficiency of generating Brillouin Stokes improved due to the suppression of out-of-band amplified spontaneous emission in the BEFL. The band-pass filter provides a specific range of lasing window that coincide with the Brillouin pump signal. The flatness of the Brillouin stokes is also improved in the proposed design. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
