The aim of this study was to describe and compare hospital service utilization and charges of inpatients with acute cerebral infarction among patients using two types of health insurance: National Health Insurance (NHI) and Medical Aid (MA). Methods: The demographic, clinical, health-service utilization, and payment data of 1600 patients were analyzed. The patients were admitted within 7 days after the onset of stroke symptoms. Two insurance groups were compared in terms of patient characteristics and hospital charges using the chi-square test or the t-test. The significance of the impact of the health-insurance type on health-care utilization was tested after controlling for other related factors, using regression models. Results: At the time of admission, the patients' gender, age, and stroke subtype differed significantly between the two insurance groups, whereas there were no differences in risk factors, admission route, referral status, or severity. There were no significant differences in treatments, length of stay, and referral status during their hospital stay. The total hospital charges and daily charges were significantly higher for patients with NHI than for patients with MA. In particular, significant differences were found in the categories of room and board, injection, laboratory tests, and imaging studies. Conclusions: There were significant differences between NHI and MA in terms of patient demographic characteristics, health-care utilization, and inpatient charges. Patients with NHI had higher hospital charges, especially in the categories of room and board and imaging tests.

Therefore, the modified NIHSS (mNIHSS) was developed, eliminating redundant and less reliable items from the full version of the NIHSS. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the validity of the mNIHSS according to the subtypes of stroke and the location of affected arterial territories. Methods: The severity of stroke in 155 patients with acute cerebral infarction was measured. Each patient was evaluated by two neurologists using both the NIHSS and mNIHSS, and the stroke subtype was determined according to the TOAST classification. The vascular territory of lesion was classified into an anterior and posterior circulation. The criterion-related validity was evaluated by the Pearson Correlation Coefficient between the NIHSS and mNIHSS scores. Resul...

The purpose of this study was to analyze the diagnostic distribution of psychiatric disorders in 19-30-year-old Koreans based on their age and gender using data from the Korean National Health Insurance Service (NHIS). Methods: From the 2011 medical claims sample data of NHIS of 1,375,842 people, we extracted the data of 221,038 people aged 19-30 years, including 106,232 (48.1%) men and 114,806 (51.9%) women. We evaluated the overall changes in the diagnostic distribution of psychiatric disorders over a 3-year period. Results: The diagnostic frequency in women was 13,627 (59.0%), which was significantly higher than that in men. "Other anxiety disorders" was the most common psychiatric disorder in both genders, followed by depressive episodes, somatoform disorders, "other neurotic disorders, " and nonorganic sleep disorders. In men, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder or intellectual disabilities were not among the top 10 disorders. In women, no significant changes in major psychiatric disorders were seen over the 3-year period. Conclusion: These results reveal the trends of diagnostic distribution of mental illnesses depending on the development, particularly in young adulthood. It is necessary to identify whether such trends are due to biological or environmental factors, aging processes, or complex influences.

The economy, culture, countless industries, medical care, work, and even home dynamics have been transformed by the spread of this virus, and they remain noticeably altered as we enter the "new normal. " Even as the numbers of new cases decline in what we now consider the post-COVID-19 era, remnants of this paradigm shift are visible-many people still prefer to wear masks in public, avoid crowded places, and do their shopping online. These trends are expected to continue indefinitely, even as faceto-face interactions resume. As Thomas Friedman of the New York Times stated, "There is the world B.C. (Before Corona) and the world A.C. (After Corona). " (Friedman, 2020). Out of the countless venues that have been transformed by the pandemic, the workplace in particular has seen one of the most accelerated rates of change. It is for this reason that BCRP published a special issue on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) companies in January of last year. That issue covered case studies of these companies in an effort to examine different approaches to the new normal. These companies all utilized innovative platform strategies in their adaptation process, but each did so in a unique way. Uracle, with their message

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of apology on subsequent disciplinary action, considering different levels of elaborateness of apology, severity of outcomes, and favorableness of reputation. Methods: A 3 × 2 × 2 between subject factorial design experiment was conducted with 262 participants. The dependent variable was discipline, and three independent variables included the elaborateness of apology, the offender's reputation, and the severity of outcome resulting from the violation. Collected data was analyzed using ANOVA and planned comparisons. Results: The claim that apology leads to less punishment was partially supported. Although there was no statistically significant support for an apology's effect on a 6-item composite measure of disciplinary action, the effects of apology on individual items such as dismissal showed significance. There was also support for the effects of severity of outcome and reputation of the offender on the level of disciplinary action recommended. Conclusions: The results of the present study demonstrate that the issue of apology's effect on discipline is more complex than once thought. Thus greater consideration should be taken in efforts to achieve a better understanding of its effects.

Although nitrogendoped graphene shows a high doping efficiency, its electrical properties can be easily affected by oxygen and water impurities from the environment. We here report that boron-doped graphene nanoplatelets with desirable electrical properties can be prepared by the simultaneous reduction and boron-doping of graphene oxide (GO) at a high annealing temperature. B-doped graphene nanoplatelets prepared at 1000 °C show a maximum boron concentration of 6.04 ± 1.44 at %, which is the highest value among B-doped graphenes prepared using various methods. With well-mixed GO and g-B 2 O 3 as the dopant, highly uniform doping is achieved for potentially gram-scale production. In addition, as a proof-of-concept, highly B-doped graphene nanoplatelets were used as an electrode of an electrochemical double-layer capacitor (EDLC) and showed an excellent specific capacitance value of 448 F/g in an aqueous electrolyte without additional conductive additives. We believe that B-doped graphene nanoplatelets can also be used in other applications such as electrocatalyst and nano-electronics because of their reliable and controllable electrical properties regardless of the outer environment.

This study aims to analyze Korean environments in regards to the development of their u-Health industry and propose directions for u-Healthcare services based on this analysis. Methods: This paper reviews the background, progress history, and current status of u-Health in Korea, and suggests strategies for the u-Health industry based on an analysis of its barriers and obstacles. Results: When u-Health was introduced to Koreans, their policies and approaches focused mainly on environmental factors, yet these efforts have not progressed further to impact the u-Healthcare service industry itself. To develop the u-Healthcare industry, four points need to be considered: the development and support of the practical service model, institutional support, support of core technology and industry, and the institutionalization of health management service. Conclusions: Korea is at a strategic point to start building u-Healthcare service delivery models. u-Healthcare is a healthcare service that provides added value through u-Health environments. By identifying critical success factors in u-Healthcare, we can strengthen the u-Health industry and implement policies to coordinate our efforts in the process of value chains to which we belong.

The KBoD study generally followed the approach utilized in the original Global Burden of Disease study (GBD), with the exception of the disease classification and epidemiological data estimation methods used, and the relative weightings of disabilities. The results of the present study reveal that the burden of disease per 100,000 of the Korean population originates primarily from; cancer (1,525 Person Years, PYs), cardiovascular disease (1,492 PYs), digestive disease (1,140 PYs), diabetes mellitus (990 PYs), and certain neuro-psychiatric conditions (883 PYs). These results are largely consistent with those of developed countries, but also represent uniquely Korean characteristics.
