Influence of Marketing Capability on the Performance of Pharmaceutical Companies in Kenya

Methodology: The population comprised the 415 pharmaceutical companies that are operating within the country. The study used stratified random sampling with sample size of 103 respondents. The study targeted both manufacturers and distributors. Primary and secondary data was collected using a questionnaire covering the five variables and background information. The data was entered in SPSS version 23.0 for further analysis, descriptive statistics was computed such that the study used mean, frequencies, percentages and inferential statistics to test the relationship between the study variables. Findings: The correlation analysis revealed that there was a positive and significant association between marketing capability and firm performance (r = 0.608, p = 0.000). Regression of coefficients results revealed that marketing capability and firm performance are positively and significantly related (β =0.758, p=0.000). This implies that a unit increase in marketing capability would lead to increase in firm performance by 0.758. This implies that marketing capability significantly and positively influences performance of pharmaceutical companies in Kenya. Through marketing strategies, a firm is able to arouse interest of a customer to their products. It is concluded that the pharmaceuticals in Kenya have employed various marketing strategies that necessitate extension of pharmaceutical market hence improving performance.

The main objective of the study was to assess the effects of technological capability on the performance of pharmaceutical companies in Kenya. Methods: The population comprised the 415 pharmaceutical companies that are operating in Kenya. The study used stratified random sampling with sample size of 103 respondents. The study targeted both manufacturers and distributors. Primary and secondary data was collected using a questionnaire covering the five variables and background information. Conclusion: Technological capability of a firm stands to be one of the main determinants of how well the organization performs in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. Recommendations: Pharmaceutical companies should embrace information technology by bringing modern and automated means of production as well as information sharing platforms that create the uniqueness, efficiency and effectiveness of their firms.

The National Council on the Administration of Justice in Kenya comprises of state and non-state actors in the administration of justice. They play a role in establishing and maintaining a favorable environment for the economic, social, and political development of the country as envisaged in Kenya's Vision 2030. The agencies in the administration of justice have formulated strategic plans but despite the existence of strategic plans, they have been criticized for underperformance with the implementation of the strategic plans being marred with challenges which include; clogging up of the Justice system with petty offenses, systemic, structural and agency challenges, low rate of successful prosecution of serious offenses and justice system being skewed against the poor. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of organizational resources on the performance of the agencies constituting the NCAJ. With a specific objective to establish the influence of tangible, intangible, and human resources on the performance of the agencies constituting NCAJ and to assess the moderating role of the regulatory environment on the relationship. Methodology: The study was anchored on resource-based theory. The study used a descriptive correlational survey research design and utilized both qualitative and quantitative data. The study's unit of analysis was the 36 institutions that comprise the NCAJ while the unit of observation was 231 drawn from the top and middle-level managers with a sample of 164 obtained using the Yamane formula. Primary data was collected by use of interviews and structured questionnaires administered by trained research assistants. Secondary data was collected from reports of NCAJ. A pilot study of 10% of the sample frame was conducted and those who participated in the pilot study were excluded from the final study. Cronbach's alpha and exploratory factor analysis were used to test for reliability and validity of the data collection instrument. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze data with the help of the SPSS tool. Descriptive statistics was presented by use of measures of central tendency and measure of variability in tables while inferential statistics was presented by use of a regression model. Findings: The study found that tangible resources, intangible resources, and human resources have a significant and positive relationship with the performance of the agencies constituting the NCAJ. Thus, the study concluded that there is a strong significant positive relationship between organizational resources (r=.560 and p<0.05) and the performance of the agencies constituting the NCAJ. The study also found and concluded that Regulatory Environment has a moderating influence on the relationship between organizational resources and the performance of the agencies constituting the NCAJ (r=.241 and p<0.05). Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: From the findings, the study recommended that NCAJ should enhance their tangible, intangible, and human resources as this will help to increase resource reliance in Organizations. Moreover, it will assist firms in increasing productivity, increasing employee loyalty and morale, and making organizational operations run more smoothly. The study provides empirical evidence for policy formulation in the area of administration of justice, a contribution to the existing literature on the influence of organization resources and organizational performance, and an affirmation of the resource-based theory.

Methodology: A descriptive research design was used in which quantitative data collection approach was applied. The population of the study was 96 from which a sample of 63 was selected. The study used both stratified random sampling and purposive sampling to select staff members in their respective strata (top police officers, middle-level officers, and low-level officers). A structured questionnaire in a five likert scale format was used to collect data from the respondents. The collected data was analyzed by both descriptive and inferential statistics with the aid of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 24. Descriptive analysis involved frequencies and percentages for demographic data of respondents. Inferential statistics in the form of correlation and multiple regression analyses were employed. Findings: Strategic management hold distinct positive relationships with performance of Uganda police. As strategic management increase, performance is likely to improve. These findings emphasize investing in strategic management initiatives to enhance overall organisational performance. The Uganda Police Force is regularly interactions with civilians, fostering increased citizen trust through community policing, which in turn enhances its effectiveness in law enforcement. There's high confidence in the police force's effective collaboration with experts, and collaborative projects are generally seen as successful. There are also community support for collaborative initiatives within the force. There is a well-established and highly effective crisis management plan in place, known and understood by the majority of its personnel. Uganda police force has an extensive staff capacity building plan in place, reflecting strong confidence in its commitment to enhancing personnel skills and knowledge. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Theory of the public enforcement of law can be used to anchor future studies on the police administration sector. The study recommends that Uganda police force should address concerns about salary structures and remuneration fairness, as there is a substantial perception gap among personnel. Additionally, the force should maintain its commitment to personnel development through training and capacity building, given its positive impact on performance. Uganda Police Force should prioritize public awareness campaigns.

The study specifically centred on establishing the influence of technology alliances, marketing alliances, financial alliances and distribution alliances on performance of firms in the tourism sector. The theories anchoring the study comprised of Organizational Learning Theory, Positioning Theory, Resource Dependency Theory and Strategic Behaviour Theory. Methodology: The study targeted tourism partners comprising of 44 tourist rated hotels, 210 travel agents and 660 tour operators operating in Nairobi County and licensed by Tourism Regulatory Authority. One manager from each of the firm formed the unit of observation. Yamane (1967) sampling formula was employed to develop a sample of 273 respondents. Primary data was collected through questionnaires containing close ended questions. The data collected was analyzed by employing both inferential analysis and descriptive statistics using MS Excel and SPSS software V22. The results and findings of the analysis were presented in form of tables and figures. Findings: The results established that strategic alliances account for 55.7% of variations on performance of firms in the tourism sector. Additionally, technology alliances, marketing alliances, financial alliances and distribution alliances bears a positive and significant influence on performance of firms in tourism sector operating in Nairobi County, Kenya. This is shown by beta values of 0.486, 0.376, 0.284 and 0.401 and significance values of 0.000, 0.004, 0.011 and 0.000. One-Stop Shop Regulatory Regime and Competitiveness of FDI Manufacturing Firms in Kenya

The basic principle of doing business is that regulations should be relatively easy to comply wit... more The basic principle of doing business is that regulations should be relatively easy to comply with and accessible to all who need to use them, so that anyone with talent and good ideas can start and grow a business in the formal sector. In this context, in order to improve access to government services, decentralize government service points, increase awareness of the range of government services and also to attract foreign direct investment in Kenya, the Government of Kenya has adopted a one-stop shop regulatory regime. As regards FDI, the Government considered that by providing investors with a clear and convenient source of information to enable them to compete more effectively on the market, this model could improve transparency and openness. However, studies have shown that foreign direct investment firms continue to withdraw from the Kenya market on grounds of good reasons. For this reason, the study sought to establish the relationship between the onestop shop regulatory regime and the competitiveness of FID firms in Kenya. The unit of analysis was the management staff of 66 manufacturing FDI firms which were members of Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) in the Nairobi Metropolitan while the unit of observation comprised; human resource manager 1, finance manager 1, marketing manager 1, production manager 1 and CEO/GM/owner 1. Primary data were collected by means of a semi structured questionnaire, while secondary data included the analysis of statistical abstracts from published materials and reports. Data analysis was carried out using the statistical package for social sciences (SPSS) software version 25 as well as descriptive and inferential statistics. The results have shown that the competitiveness of foreign direct investment manufacturing firms in Kenya has been significantly influenced by the one-stop shop regulatory regime. Energy costs were found to have a moderating effect on the influence of innovation strategies on competitiveness of FDI manufacturing firms in Kenya. In particular, the data showed that the competitiveness of foreign direct investment manufacturing firms and their decision to stay or leave the business is influenced by the cost of electricity and petroleum.

Descriptive and inferential statistics were both analyzed. Descriptive statistics included percentages, mean and standard deviations while inferential statistics included correlation and regression. Before conducting regression analysis, the study tested for the assumptions of classical linear regression model namely, normality, autocorrelation, heteroscedasticity, linearity and multicollinearity. The findings of the study showed that while joint ventures, business networking and mergers had a positive effect on performance of commercial banks, franchising did not. The study recommends advanced practices of mergers with both peers or other firms in different fields in order to improve synergy in cases where the competition is very stiff; strategic and operations managers of commercial banks to improve the extent of adopting joint ventures with peers through equity Joint Ventures, cooperative agreements and financing agreement; to accelerate their business networking initiatives in order to improve their performance. This can be done through supplier interaction, customer interaction and competitor interaction as well as intensify the adoption of franchising activities such as business format franchising, distribution franchising and management in order to realize its positive effects.

The research design was descriptive survey. The study targeted employees at managerial positions in listed commercial banks in Nairobi County. The study was a census study from all the 33 respondents in the study. Questionnaire was used to source primary data. The source of secondary data was financial results of the listed commercial banks. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were applied in analyzing quantitative data using SPSS version 23. Analysis of the association between innovation management and performance of listed commercial banks in Kenya was determined by performing multiple regressions . The study found that product innovation significantly and positively related with performance of Kenya’s commercial banks; process innovation significantly and positively related with performance of Kenya’s commercial banks; marketing innovation significantly and positively related with performance of Kenya’s commercial banks; and Customer Relations Management innovation significantly and positively related with performance of Kenya’s commercial banks. The study recommended that banks’ management and stakeholders should embrace product innovation, process innovation, marketing innovation and customer relations management innovation in their organization’s operations through adoption and support of modern technology in their service delivery; this will increase the banks performance. The government ought to offer incentives for Research and Development to research scientists who endeavour to put in their time resource and skills to invent additional bank innovations. Further, it’s suggested that the government should implement a policy to offer incentives towards technological expertise transfer from more developed countries so as to encourage the implementation of international inventions.
