Restoration of blood flow after ischaemic stroke leads to cerebral ischaemia–reperfusion injury (CIRI). Various operations, such as cardiac surgery with deep hypothermic circulatory arrest, predictably cause cerebral ischaemia. Diabetes is related to the occurrence of perioperative stroke and exacerbates neurological impairment after stroke. Therefore, the choice of anaesthetic drugs has certain clinical significance for patients with diabetes. Isoflurane (ISO) exerts neuroprotective and anti-neuroinflammatory effects in patients without diabetes. However, the role of ISO in cerebral ischaemia in the context of diabetes is still unknown. Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) and NOD-like receptor pyrin domain-containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation play important roles in microglia-mediated neuroinflammatory injury. In this study, we treated a diabetic middle cerebral artery occlusion mouse model with ISO. We found that diabetes exa...

The study investigated technologyoriented innovative crowdfunding projects on three major Chinese crowdfunding platforms. A hierarchical regression analysis is applied to explore the model's hypotheses. The results show that crowdfunding interaction breadth and interaction depth both partially mediate the relationship between technological boundary-spanning search and crowdfunding innovation performance. The findings also demonstrate that knowledge sharing moderates the path from technological boundary-spanning search to crowdfunding interaction depth and the path from crowdfunding interaction depth to crowdfunding innovation performance.

Gent significantly inhibited the release of tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-1β, nitric oxide, and prostaglandin E, as well as expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2 in lipopolysaccharide-induced primary astrocytes. Furthermore, Gent relieved neurotoxicity from astrocytemediated inflammatory injury. Mechanism studies indicated that Gent significantly suppressed nuclear factor-κB nuclear translocation and down-regulated c-Jun-N-terminal kinase/stress-activated protein kinase mitogen-activated protein kinase phosphorylation levels with little influence on elevated p-p38 levels. Taken together, our findings suggested Gent could prevent the neurotoxicity related to astrocyte-mediated inflammatory injury by inhibition of nuclear factor-κB and mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathways. The study also indicated that neuronal injury could be prevented by promptly modulating inflammatory responses of astrocytes. NeuroReport

To account for endogeneity of air pollution in the determination of wages and property prices, we exploit quasi-experimental variations in air quality induced by a policy subsidizing coal-based winter heating in northern China, and document a discontinuity in average air quality for cities located north and south of the policy boundary. Using data for all 288 Chinese cities in 2011, we estimate an equilibrium relationship between wages and house prices for the entire system of Chinese cities, and specify a regression discontinuity design to quantify how variation in air quality induced by the policy affects this relationship locally. Our preferred estimates of the elasticity of wages and house prices with respect to PM 10 concentration are 0.53 and-0.71 respectively. At the average of our sample, the willingness to pay for a marginal reduction in PM 10 concentration is CNY 261.28 (USD 40.50), with a significant share reflected in labor market outcomes.

A total of 120 patients who underwent liver resection were randomly divided into two groups for the comparative analysis of the following factors: amount of activity, pain control, sleeping state, perioperative gastrointestinal function recovery, incidence of complications and postoperative hospital stay. Compared with the control group, patients undergoing liver resection performing early postoperative ambulation had faster gastrointestinal function recovery (First exhaust time 2.2 ± 1.4 vs. 3.3 ± 2.3 p < 0.01; First flatus time 2.3 ± 1.7 vs. 3.1 ± 2.5 p = 0.04) and shorter postoperative hospital stays (6.6 ± 2.3 vs. 7.7 ± 2.1 p = 0.01), with statistically significant differences. There was no significant difference in the incidence of postoperative complications between the two groups (p > 0.05). Early amb...

As owners of listed energy companies, shareholders can influence the stability of the energy stock market by increasing or decreasing their holdings. To analyze the evolutionary features and stability of shareholders’ co-holding behavior, we constructed a derivative holding-based structural equivalence network of the shareholders (holding-based network) based on the primitive shareholding network of the listed companies and their shareholders. The main data used in this paper are the semi-annual reports from 2003 to 2012 that contain information about Chinese listed energy companies’ top 10 shareholders. The holding-based network takes the shareholders as nodes, whether holding the same listed energy companies’ stock at the same time as the edges, and the number of listed energy companies co-held as the weights. Due to the unique topological features of the holding-based network, we improved the Heuristic Algorithm to find the associated maximal connected sub-graph of the network, which is the main group of shareholders with shareholding consistency of the listed energy companies. This paper creates a new approach to analyze the relationships in the energy stock market, presenting a new method to analyze shareholder behavior.

Stockholders are the owners of the listed energy companies, whose relationships would affect the stability of the energy market directly. In order to analyze the evolution features and stability of the relationships between the stockholders, we constructed a generator holding-based structural equivalence network of the shareholders based on the primitive affiliation network of the listed companies and their shareholders. The main data used in this paper is the semi-annual reports from 2003 to 2012 which contain the information about Chinese listed energy companies' top 10 shareholders. The holding-based network takes the shareholders as the nodes, whether holding the same listed energy companies' stock at the same period as the edges, and the number of the listed energy companies holding at the same time as the weights. In this paper, we improved the traditional Heuristic method and then found the maximal connected sub-graphs of the holding-based networks in different time domain by the improved Heuristic method. The main method and theory used in this paper is complex network, we calculated and analyzed the evolution and the stability of the maximal connected sub-graphs. This paper comes up with a new angle to analyze the relationships in the energy stock market, and present a new method to analyze the stockholders' behaviors.

To gain greater investment return, scholars and traders use technical indicators when selecting trading strategies in oil futures market. In this paper, the authors used moving average prices of oil futures with genetic algorithms to generate profitable trading rules. We defined individuals with different combinations of period lengths and calculation methods as moving average trading rules and used genetic algorithms to search for the suitable lengths of moving average periods and the appropriate calculation methods. The authors used daily crude oil prices of NYMEX futures from 1983 to 2013 to evaluate and select moving average rules. We compared the generated trading rules with the buy-and-hold (BH) strategy to determine whether generated moving average trading rules can obtain excess returns in the crude oil futures market. Through 420 experiments, we determine that the generated trading rules help traders make...

This study provides a novel perspective on multivariate dynamic correlations for studying the oil market by using an optimal wavelet analysis on the basis of grey correlation. We used China-Daqing and its three reference benchmark oil prices (Brent, Dubai and Minas) as empirical data. Our main findings are as follows. First, the time-frequency phenomena of the analysis results from one-to-one and many-to-one correlation time series support the hypothesis of the regional and global characteristics of the oil market, respectively. Second, the U-shaped wavelet variance plot indicates that the fluctuation intensity of the shortest and longest time-frequency domains plays a leading role in the dynamic process of oil price correlation. For the Chinese government, the oil price adjustment strategy in the short term should reduce the reference weights of Brent, and the long-term strategy should reduce the reference weights of Minas to avoid the risk of a single reference. The investor's portfolio management should pay more attention to the leading oil price of the corresponding period to make clear market timing. Third, the significant lead-lag relationships of oil price correlations

Our previous study reported the presence of SRA in a soluble form in patients with infection of hepatitis B viruses (HBV). However, the association of soluble SRA with stages of HBV infection and the immune response induced by HBV is not fully determined. In this study, we detected soluble SRA in serum from 29 chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients, 28 chronic HBV carriers in the immune tolerant (IT) stage, 33 in the HBeAg-negative inactive carrier (IC) stage, and 22 healthy controls (HCs), respectively. We further analyzed the correlation of detected soluble SRA to inflammation and serum viral load. In addition, we investigated the regulatory role of soluble SRA in T cell activation, especially in CD8(+) T cell response to HBV peptide. We demonstrated that Median levels of serum soluble SRA in CHB and IT patients were significan...

Distinctive to a previously established model, the persistently infected cell line acquired new features including more rounded morphology, resistance to wild type FMDV infection, consistent replication efficiency in late passages, etc. To elucidate the mechanism of establishment of persistence, we performed systematically microarray analysis of gene expression profiles of acute and persistent infections and real-time quantitative PCR validation of key genes. Our results showed 12 common genes were found to be up-regulated in acute infection while down-regulated in persistent infection. Gene expression analysis indicated differences in the KEGG pathway, revealing important roles of host factors in the maintenance of symbiotic environment. The results suggest that, in contrast to previous viral persistence system, the critical element in establishment of the persistence in our lab is the evolution of host cells which regulate genome transcription to defy the lytic effects of FMDV infection.
