It is one of the most important decision making processes. This issue is highly important because of the vibrant competition, limited budgets and high customer expectations .This study's objective is to provide a hybrid model for selecting optimal site location using available data sources and well accepted decision models, specifically Analytic Network Process (ANP) and Geographic Information System (GIS).The process identified the most commonly used criteria for bank branch location consideration through literature review yielding demographics, competition, transportation, access to public facilities. Criteria and sub-criteria weights were quantified through pair-wise comparison using expert judges, via ANP. The database created for the study area (Khartoum Locality) includes data about demographics, competition, transportation, access to public facilities available in the area. With the help of Esri's ArcGIS software through using the weighted overlay analysis tool we have identified suitable sites of new bank branches .The results showed five optimal locations for new bank branch in Khartoum locality; location near Madani St, location close to Bashir Elnefedi St, location at Firdous East Square 8, and two other sites in Khartoum West (Shajra Avenue). For the conclusion, these results show the efficiency and applicability of the proposed integrated method.

Now the demand for finding tools techniques and skills for cybersecurity professionals has become an essential issue. This paper highlights the important aspects of cybersecurity such as Cybersecurity Institutions of cybersecurity, Attacks and Atta...

Understanding urban growth spatiotemporally is important for landscape and urban development plan... more Understanding urban growth spatiotemporally is important for landscape and urban development planning. In this study, we examined the spatiotemporal pattern of urban growth of the Colombo Metropolitan Area (CMA)-Sri Lanka's only metropolitan area-from 1992 to 2014 using remote sensing data and GIS techniques. First, we classified three land-use/cover maps of the CMA (i.e., for 1992, 2001, and 2014) using Landsat data. Second, we examined the temporal pattern of urban land changes (ULCs; i.e., land changes from non-built-up to built-up) across two time intervals (1992-2001 and 2001-2014). Third, we examined the spatial pattern of ULCs along the gradients of various driver variables (e.g., distance to roads) and by using spatial metrics. Finally, we predicted the future urban growth of the CMA (2014-2050). Our results revealed that the CMA's built-up land has increased by 24,711 ha (221%) over the past 22 years (11,165 ha in 1992 to 35,876 ha in 2014), at a rate of 1123 ha per year. The analysis revealed that ULC was more intense or faster during the 2000s (1268 ha per year) than in the 1990s (914 ha per year), coinciding with the trends of population and economic growth. The results also revealed that most of the ULCs in both time intervals occurred in close proximity to roads and schools, while also showing some indications of landscape fragmentation and infill urban development patterns. The ULC modeling revealed that by 2030 and 2050, the CMA's built-up land will increase to 42,500 ha and 56,000 ha, respectively. Most of these projected gains of built-up land will be along the transport corridors and in proximity to the growth nodes. These findings are important in the context of landscape and urban development planning for the CMA. Overall, this study provides valuable information on the landscape transformation of the CMA, also highlighting some important challenges facing its future sustainable urban development.

The rapid expansion of urban areas as a result of population growth and economic prosperity is ca... more The rapid expansion of urban areas as a result of population growth and economic prosperity is causing land use and land cover (LULC) changes in cities all over the world. Lagos state Nigeria is no exception to this trend, as one of Africa's fastest-growing cities, which experienced remarkable urban growth due to rapid urbanization. Consequently, a large population will burden the already fragile ecosystems that characterize the urban landscape. Thus, the objective of this study was to analyze land use and land cover changes in Lagos state Nigeria by applying geospatial and land use change modeling tools such as geographic information system (GIS) and remote sensing technologies. Therefore, understanding and quantifying the spatiotemporal dynamics of urban land use and land cover changes and its driving factors is essential to put forward the right policies and monitoring mechanisms on urban growth for decision making. In order to achieve this, satellite data of Landsat TM for year 2000 and ETM for year 2020 have been obtained and preprocessed using QGIS applications. The Maximum Likelihood Algorithm of Supervised Classification has been used to generate land cover maps. For the accuracy of classified land cover maps, a confusion matrix was used to derive overall accuracy and results were above the minimum and acceptable threshold level. Generally, the results of this study have shown that there was an increased expansion of built-up areas in last 20 years from 50% in 2000 to 57 % in 2020 and 5% in 2000 at the expense of bare soil areas to 8% in 2020, that is the temporal period between2000 and 2020 showed the highest conversion of vegetation and water area to urban areas. The spatial trend of built-up areas also showed that there was a growing trend in the western part of Lagos state relative to other directions.

They have become an annual phenomena that have devastating effect on the infrastructure, property and in most cases result in to loss of human life. Amongst the most prevalent natural disasters are the floods, with their frequency of occurrence, extent and cost of damage have escalated around the globe. Kampala, the capital city of Uganda experiences the occurrence of flooding events annually with dire consequences. Previous studies have shown that remote sensing and geographic information systems have been an effective tool in the flood risk management and assessment. This paper seeks to demarcate areas that are susceptible to flooding in Kampala using remote sensing and geographic information systems. The SRTM DEM is used to create the elevation, slope and stream network raster maps. The flood map created from the overlay of the polygon land cover and polygon DEM flood predictability with embedded towns indicates that Kampala is moderately at a high risk of flooding due to its low gradient and slope with the built up areas cover type experiencing high levels of floods especially for the areas that are constructed in the previously occurring drainage channels. The maps created can be useful to the decision makers to identify the flood risk zones, planning drainage systems incorporated with the already existing residential areas. The information can also be helpful to the town planners to mitigate, relocate and manage the victims that have lost their property.
