A set of Mesh Routers termed as Internet Gateways (IGWs) provide internet connectivity. Each Mesh Router is associated with a gateway for transmission and reception of internet traffic. A set of mesh routers having served by one specific gateway is called a domain. If lots of Mesh Routers are served by a single gateway from the gateway set, the gateway becomes congested. So the other gateways may remain underutilized. This degrades the overall performance of the network. To solve this problem, several load balancing algorithms have been proposed. This paper presents an investigation of the load balancing algorithms in WMNs.
