The brachyuran crabs are highly diversity in the marine environment. In the present study 402 specimens of brachyurans crabs belonging 47 species, 24 genera, 10 families under Order Decapoda in the Class Malacostraca were studied along with their distribution from the coral reef ecosystem of North Andaman. The highest species present in the kalipur beach (33) and Karmatang (32). Species diversity indices rich in kalipur beach (3.38) and a low diversity index was found in the Karlo and Rail Island (2.94). Closest similarity was observed in Karmatang Beach and Kalipur Beach (0.74) and least similarity was observed in sound and karlo Islands (0.22)

The present paper reports first record of porcelain crab Neopetrolisthes maculatus (H. Milne Edwards, 1837) in these island, Neopetrolisthes maculatus inhabits the coral reef region and associated with sea anemone (Stichodactyla haddoni). The taxonomical descriptions of the species are given in this paper.

The specimen represents the first record of the poorly known species from Indian waters and was collected from a large sea anemone Heteractis crispa (Hemprich & Ehrenberg in Ehrenberg, 1834).

According to the ichthyofauna checklist of Andaman & Nicobar Islands by Rao (2009), Ramakrishna et al. (2010) and Rajan et al. (2013), the fish species (Cheilodipterus isostigmus (Schultz, 1940), Cheilodipterus intermedius Gon, 1993, Ostorhinchus nigrofasciatus Lachner, 1953, Chlorurus capistratoides (Bleeker, 1847), Halichoeres richmondi Fowler & Bean, 1928, and Halichoeres cosmetus Randall & Smith, 1982 were added to the list of ichthyofauna of these islands.
