Metode yang digunakan dalam artikel ini adalah dengan praktik secara langsung kepada anak-anak dan juga dengan menggunakan beberapa sumber pustaka berupa artikel mengenai COVID-19 yang merupakan wabah yang telah menyebar ke berbagai negara di dunia, tidak terkecuali Indonesia. Penyebaran COVID-19 di Indonesia terus mengalami lonjakan karena kurangnya kesiapan pemerintah dalam mencegah persebaran COVID-19. Dengan adanya lonjakan yang terus terjadi kemudian pemerintah Indonesia mengeluarkan kebijakan Pembatasan Sosial Beskala Besar (PSBB). Dampak dari persebaran virus yang melonjak ini dirasakan oleh berbagai bidang kehidupan, salah satunya yaitu bidang pendidikan. Kegiatan belajar mengajar harus dilakukan secara daring dari rumah untuk mencegah persebaran COVID-19. Dengan peserta didik yang melakukan kegiatan belajar dirumah inilah kemudian kegiatan sosialisasi dilakukan di tempat les yang pada saat ini menjadi pilihan orang tua dalam membantu proses belajar sang anak.

Many people are difficult to speak English. It is caused by some factors such as need of information, less frequent of practice, low self-confidence, and so on. Story Completion is very enjoyable in freespeaking activity where students sit in a circle (Kayi, 2006). There are three objectives of the research were to describe: (1) To describe the implementation of story completion in teaching speaking. (2) To describe the improvement of speaking skill for students after being given story completion. (3) 7R GHVFULEH WKH VWXGHQWV ¶ UHVSRQVH to the implementation of story completion. Descriptive qualitative was applied as the method of the research while the observation was conducted to obtain the data to answer the first research about how are the implementation of story completion. The result showed that the technique of story completion wDV VXFFHVVIXOO\ LPSOHPHQWHG WR LPSURYH WKH VWXGHQWV ¶ VSHDNLQJ VNLOO The technique can make students to encourage themselves to speak up. They have to be brave and have enough self-confident when they want to talk something.
This research analyzed about the using of turn-taking as the strategy in the radio talk show at H... more This research analyzed about the using of turn-taking as the strategy in the radio talk show at Hard Rock FM in the topic Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment, the guest was Myra Brown. It was analyzed because the researcher considered that turn-taking was one of strategies of language. The research approach was descriptive qualitative because in the analysis was described to identify the types of turn-taking, the speakers' strategies, some reasons that the speakers took the turn, and the relation among the speakers after they took the turn. The main theories that the researcher used were discourse analysis by Gee (2011), turn-taking by Renkema (2004), and context by van Dijk (2009). This research discovered that there were three types of turn taking. They are speaker's selection, speaker's self choice, and speaker's determination. Strategies that are used by the speakers, they are overlap, interruption, back-channel, and silence. One of the reasons that the speakers took the turn was the hosts wanted the guest to tell any information related with the topic.

This research is related to the result of observation showed that the studentsskill to comprehend the reading text was lack. This research used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is conducted to solve the students’ problem in English reading. The Classroom Action Research (CAR) was done based on the Kemmis and Mc Taggard’s theory. The researcher did two cycles in which each cycle consist of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The data were gathered through qualitative data.The objectives of this research are to describe: (1)the implementation of the KWL strategy in reading class to eighth grade students of SMP Al-IslamKrian; (2) the students’ improvement in reading comprehension skill after having a class with the KWL strategy to the eighth grade students of SMP Al-Islam.The finding of this research indicated the implementation of KWL technique was successfull since the criteria of success were achieved. The first criterion was the students who become more active involved in teaching and learning process. The second criterion was ≥ 75%students could pass the target 70 based on the KKM. Besides, the third criterion was ≥ 80% students agree with the implementation of KWL strategy.The result of this research showed that the teaching learning process after implementation of KWL chartthe students were active involved in the classroom. Based on the finding mentioned before, the researcher suggest that the English teacher could implement KWL strategy in teaching reading in order to motivate students in learning English reading. In this study, researcher used the descriptive qualitative to analyze the data. The researcher approach was rhetoric theory for analyzing the rhetoric proofs such as Logos, Ethos,and Pathos. The researcher used the video and text of debate candidates speech. There were rhetoric proofs appear in this debate, repetition of words and emphasizing words to find the hidden meaning. This research describes the implementation and the student's response after the teacher teaching reading novel for eleventh grade students at SMA GEMA 45 Surabaya. In this research, the researcher observed when the teacher teaching reading "Silas Marner" novel using cooperative learning techniques. This research aims to describe the implementation and the student's responses after the teacher teaching reading for eleventh grade students at SMA GEMA 45 Surabaya. This research uses descriptive qualitative research. To collect the data, the researcher used three kinds of instruments they are: interview, observation and questionnaire. The teacher used jigsaw and number heads together to teach reading "Silas Marner" novel in each meeting. The results show that after the teacher teaching reading, the students have achievement in two aspects; speaking aspect and writing aspect. Besides that, through teaching reading novel using jigsaw and number heads together can help the students easy to comprehend "Silas Marner" novel and it can avoid student's bore. Furthermore, the teacher should apply appropriate technique for the students who need to increase critical thinking when the students studying at class.

In the case of foreign students who study English in non-English speaking country, these factors become more complex. This study aims to analyze the background factors of Thai students' speaking achievement and the different background factors between student's high and low scores of speaking achievement. This study used mixed method design as method of study. The theories of factors were used to answer the objective of this research such as self-esteem, inhibition, risk-taking, anxiety, empathy, extroversion, introversion, motivation, attitude, language exposure, and social situation. The subject was five students from Thailand who studied at Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya. The finding was that each of students mostly possessed different background factors. However, their intensity and ability were different among of them. All of those factors were greatly influence their acquiring of TEFL as well. There were two students who had the highest and lowest scores in their speaking achievement after several years they have learned English in Indonesia. The different background factors between both of them were self-esteem, inhibition, risk-taking, anxiety, extroversion, introversion, attitude, and social situation factors. Their background factors in speaking were supported by many factors to reach a good achievement. Therefore, the factors mainly play important roles to tend students learning foreign language successfully.
This study was about phonological acquisition, especially on phonological process theory by David... more This study was about phonological acquisition, especially on phonological process theory by David Ingram. It focused on the consonant word production by three two-year-old Indonesian children. The researchers applied qualitative research methods and the data were taken from the three Indonesian children's speech in naturalistic conversation. Based on the data analysis and interpretation, the researchers found that not all of Ingram's phonological processes occur in the subjects' word production. There were nine from twelve processes. In addition, the researchers also found four other phonological processes which did not reflect Ingram's theory and there were still several sounds which were not acquired yet by the subjects at the end of her research.

This research design uses qualitative method to investigate situations, events, people, interactions, and observed behavior, the research location in vocational high school Al-Muhajirin. Collection data are from observation, questionnaire and field note. Researcher manages two steps to collect the data, the first step observe the lesson plan and field note and second datafrom assigned the questionnaire. The results of students’ questionnaire were computedby using the percentage technique. The result of the analysis shows that comic strip can stimulate students to writing more. Comic strips can motivate the student, make student to pay attention and want to take a part. Moreover comic strip are the most useful to contextualize a story. The implementation into students ability, the teacher used three-phase stages in reading they are: pre reading activity, whilst reading activity, and post reading activity. whereas the strength and weaknesses of the techniques, the teacher used the same techniques in teaching reading to make easier for students. It is to make student more attracted because the teacher always give them motivation in guidance and the teacher also help the students to increase their ability in pronunciation. Moreover, the researcher found in weaknesses of this technique sometimes the students felt bored because they got the same techniques used by the teacher. Therefore, it is suggested the teacher use these techniques in teaching reading comprehension, Finally the researcher suggested that the teacher should always give the motivation and the teacher combines the techniques so that the students can easily understand the lesson that the teacher teaches, it means that the teacher has made the students perform better in their learning activity.

The researcher focused on metaphor forms found as the object to be analyzed in Maya Angelou's poems. Metaphor is one part of figurative languages which is the most common and widely used in literary works such as poem. Poem is a media for a poet to express feeling and imagination based on condition of a poet's life. The data of this research were Caged Bird and Still I Rise poems by Maya Angelou. This research used descriptive qualitative to analyze the data. The purpose of this research was to find out the type of metaphor based on Crystal, Lakoff and Johnson theory, know the reasons of the use of metaphor, and interpret the poem meaning based on explication and author's biography. It was found that Maya Angelou used three types of live metaphor they are Conceptual metaphor, Mixed metaphor and Poetic metaphor. It was also found that each poem tells about the author's personal opinion about the racial inequality between black races and white races in America at that time.
