In the present investigation, the performance of nozzle plates were compared with that of orifice plates at different area ratios and Reynolds numbers and were found to produce higher (C d) while maintaining the same manufacturing cost.

One of the main purposes of the experiment is to calculate the flow nature after sudden pipe expansion. Another purpose of the experiment is to show the losses in terms of velocity and pressure at different points of the open tunnel. Calculating the value of the coefficient of discharge is also a part of our objective. In this study Cd is calculated for both orifice plate and nozzle plate. Overall the main focus of this study is to plot velocity vs distance and pressure vs distance graphs for both orifice plate and nozzle plate and compare them.

The critical challenges for the incremental evaluation are how to detect which table entries need to change, how to compute the changes and how to avoid the re-computation. In this paper we present an approach of maintaining one consolidate system to cache the query answers under the nonmonotonic logic. We use the justification-based truth-maintenance system to support the incremental evaluation of tabled Prolog Programs. The approach used in this paper suits the logic based systems that depend on dynamic facts and rules to benefit in their performance from the idea of incremental evaluation of tabled Prolog programs. More precisely, our approach favors the dynamic rules based logic systems.

Usually the problem solvers suffer from retracing conclusions. If a problem solver cached its inference, then it would not need to retrace conclusions that it had already derived earlier in the search. By caching the inferences, the problem solver avoid throwing away useful results and avoid wasting effort rediscovering the same things over and over. In this paper we present a belief revision system for logic programs that can work under the non-monotonic logic.
The impact of temperature on net driving force and concentration polarization was considered in t... more The impact of temperature on net driving force and concentration polarization was considered in this study. The study is based on experimental data on permeability of reverse osmosis (RO) at different temperature. The paper contains experimental data and theoretical calculation of permeability. Elevation in temperature from t = 20 to t = 35°C is accompanied by increase of CP modulus. Experimental (and theoretical) values of CP modulus range from 1.1 (and 1.23) at t = 20°C to 1.2 (and 1.29) at t = 35°C, respectively. Satisfactory agreement between empirical data and theoretical values of CP modulus is demonstrated. Based on the analysis of the experimental performance of membrane with high degree of salt rejection, the following conclusions have been drawn: growth of temperature is accompanied by increase of hydraulic permeability of the membrane matrix itself but enhancement of surface concentration that in turn causes decline of the net driving forces. Experimental profiles are attached.

The present study focusses to improve aerodynamic performance using the moving surface boundary control. The modifications to airfoil include a rotating leading edge cylinder with airfoil aft body. The leading edge rotating cylinder injects momentum in top surface boundary layer thereby, keeping the flow attached in the otherwise adverse pressure gradient. The attached flow over top surface shall contribute to improve the airfoil aerodynamic performance in terms of lift, drag and stall angle. The present computational study focusses on modified airfoil performance for varying velocity ratios (i.e. ratio of tangential velocity of rotating cylinder and free stream velocity) between 0.0 and 1.78 at different airfoil angles of attack. The computational study clearly highlights improvement in modified airfoil aerodynamic performance in terms of coefficient of lift, drag, stall angle and clmax even at velocity ratios less than 1.0. The lift and drag characteristics of modified airfoil are found to be superior to base airfoil for velocity ratios beyond 0.356 and 0.7 respectively. The stall angle of attack for modified airfoil is also seen to increase linearly with velocity ratio. The stall angle of attack nearly doubles from 10 o for stationary leading edge to 19 o for velocity ratio of 1.78. The extent of momentum injection in boundary layer with varying cylinder speed is analysed by comparing the coefficient of pressure plots. The aerodynamic performance improvement thus achieved by momentum injection by low cost and practically feasible leading edge rotating cylinder in NACA 0021 promises its possible utilization for varied applications i.e. for low speed aircraft wing, wind turbine blades and hydrofoils.

This paper presents JPL implementation details. JPL is an approach to support incremental tabulation for logic programs under non-monotonic logic. The main idea is to cache the proof generated by the deductive inference engine rather than the end results. In order to be able to efficiently maintain the proof to be updated, the proof structure is converted into a justification-based truthmaintenance (JTMS) network.
