The complexity of a system can be measured according to the number and relationships of the system elements. The design of renewable power plants has grown in complexity in last few decades, due to the integration of new technologies and the application of grid-code requirements. In this paper, a review of MBSE main concepts and leading methodologies (processes, methods, and tools) will be made with the objective of analyzing its application on the renewable power plants modelling and design.

We summarize the progress and outstanding issues in the development of the ITER Ion Cyclotron Hea... more We summarize the progress and outstanding issues in the development of the ITER Ion Cyclotron Heating and Current Drive (IC H&CD) system. The system is designed to robustly couple 20 MW in quasi-CW operation for a broad range of plasma scenarios, and is upgradeable to up to 40 MW. The design is rendered challenging by the wide spectrum of requirements and interface constraints to which it is subject. R&D is ongoing to validate key antenna components, and to qualify the radio-frequency (RF) sources and the transmission and matching components. Intensive numerical modeling and experimental studies on antenna mock-ups have been conducted to validate and optimize the RF design.

Its pedagogy and its content are described in the voices of students reflecting on how they have applied their new understandings and research skills to social change initiatives within the community. The Challenge of Inclusion Graduate programs in higher education have long recognized the need to serve all in a social environment divided by race, gender, and class. Most have floundered, however, in their attempts to engage groups with the greatest interest in changing social conditions-among them urban Latinos (Darder, 2001; Padilla, 1997). Resulting frustration has been analyzed from a variety of theoretical perspectives including critical theory, feminist theory, Afrocentric perspectives, and multicultural pedagogy-all having social change within their purview. Introducción: La forma en la que se mide la difusión de la información en la comunidad científica... more Introducción: La forma en la que se mide la difusión de la información en la comunidad científica ha sufrido cambios en la última década. Objetivo: Esta revisión tiene como objetivo contextualizar al lector sobre las diferentes formas de medir el impacto de un artículo, tomando en cuenta el “sistema de medición tradicional” y el de “métricas alternativas”. Metodología de búsqueda: Se realizó una búsqueda en las bases de datos “PubMed/MEDLINE”, “Dialnet”, “Scielo” y “ScienceDirect”, utilizando las palabras clave: Bibliometría, alt métricas, métricas alternativas y factor de impacto. Conclusiones: El “sistema de medición tradicional”, basado en el factor de impacto y que se apoya esencialmente en la opinión de expertos, con el fin asegurar la calidad de las investigaciones, es una herramienta aún vigente que en conjunto con las métricas alternativas o altmétricas, favorecen la difusión del conocimiento, sin que necesariamente midan de manera precisa la calidad del artículo y su impacto.

E... more Introducción: El femicidio es todo homicidio intencional de una mujer por razones de su género. El término overkill se utiliza en los casos donde se observa gran cantidad de heridas, excediendo lo necesario para causar la muerte. Presentamos este caso médico-legal con el objetivo de ejemplificar la relación entre el overkill y los femicidios. Resultados: Los hallazgos de autopsia revelaron lesiones compatibles con estrangulación manual e instrumentalizada y heridas por arma blanca. Esto permitió calificarla como overkill. Conclusión: Este tipo de caso llama a la reflexión sobre los factores de riesgo y formas de cómo prevenirlos.

ABSTRACT The ITER Ion Cyclotron Heating and Current Drive System is required to deliver 20 MW of ... more ABSTRACT The ITER Ion Cyclotron Heating and Current Drive System is required to deliver 20 MW of RF Power in the frequency range 40-55 MHz to ITER plasmas for pulse lengths up to 3600 s. Components used in the transmission line and matching system include 305 mm diameter, Z0 = 50 Ω components with gas cooled inner conductors, and 330 mm diameter, Z0 = 20 Ω components with water-cooled inner conductors. All operate at pulse lengths up to 3600 s. Components used include transmission line sections, gas barriers, hybrid power splitters, stubs, hybrid phase shifters, coaxial 4-port switches, and vacuum capacitors. The system uses pre-matching near the antenna and a matching network ̃20 m away, including decouplers that compensate for the mutual inductance between antenna array elements. Some 50 Ω component test articles have been fabricated and will be shown. High power RF test fixtures have been constructed including a resonant ring that produces 6 MW of circulating power with 340 kW input power and VSWR as low as 1.15. It has been used to investigate the dependence of inner conductor temperature on gas velocity at power levels up to ̃6 MW for pulse lengths up to 1 hour.

Progress on further development of the ITER ECH Transmission system design and testing of wavegui... more Progress on further development of the ITER ECH Transmission system design and testing of waveguide components will be presented. Work on the preliminary design of the system configuration is proceeding based on the conceptual design from the ITER Organization. Requirements for precision of waveguide supports and components are being analyzed and thermal and mechanical modeling of prototype components is being performed. Several prototype components have been procured from industry and some have been tested to nearly 1 MW at 170 GHz for long pulses at JAEA in Japan. A high power test stand is being developed at ORNL to provide component, system, and instrumentation tests at 1 MW cw or higher power conditions. The high voltage power supply has been tested and 140 GHz and 170 GHz gyrotrons are expected to be operational in the near future.

This article reports on the benchmarking of organizational structure, governance and finances of ... more This article reports on the benchmarking of organizational structure, governance and finances of accreditation in a number of industries and certification programs in tourism, as part of the research on the feasibility and desirability of a Sustainable Tourism Stewardship Council. There are a variety of governance structures widely accepted and potentially transferable to new accreditation bodies, with the biggest changes coming in the form of outsourcing the accreditation function from standard setting and compliance with ISO guides. Financial benchmarking has shown great weaknesses in the sector, over‐relying on seed funding from donors and the general inability of the sector to be self‐financing, which casts a shadow over the long term survival of accreditation in its present form. The paper reports on latest developments for the ITER Ion Cyclotron Heating and Current Drive sys... more The paper reports on latest developments for the ITER Ion Cyclotron Heating and Current Drive system: imminent acceptance tests of a prototype power supply at full power; successful factory acceptance of candidate RF amplifier tubes which will be tested on dedicated facilities; further design integration and experimental validation of transmission line components under 6MW hour-long pulses. The antenna Faraday shield thermal design has been validated above requirements by cyclic high heat flux tests. R&D on ceramic brazing is under way for the RF vacuum windows. The antenna port plug RF design is stable but major evolution of the mechanical design is in preparation to achieve compliance with the load specification, warrant manufacturability and incorporate late interface change requests. The antenna power coupling capability predictions have been strengthened by showing that, if the plasma scrape-off layer turns out to be steep and the edge density low, the reference burning plasma can realistically be displaced to improve the coupling.
