Objectives: This study developed and validated the key underlying attributes of the wellness tourism experience framework within the Thailand context. Methods: From reviewing the related literature to identify potential sub attributes under the four dimensions of the PMSE framework, themes were developed using a theory- and prior research-driven method within different cultural contexts. The fitness of the PMSE attribute framework model within the context of Thailand wellness tourism was confirmed through a survey design with a quantitative approach from the generalities of the sample groups. The entire dataset was statistically tested with descriptive statistics and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Results ...

The results indicate a significant association between various board compositions and stock returns. Specifically, board size and executive directors have a negative impact, whereas independent directors enhance stock returns. Busy directors positively impact the abnormal stock returns for the companies in the non-financial industry, which implies that busy directors who serve on more boards tend to be well connected. More importantly, the results indicate a significant positive relationship between board tenure and stock returns. Board service time is perceived as the board quality of knowledge and experience from the investors' point of view.

Descriptive Case Study of the Use of Non Cash and Informal Compensation in Thailand

This paper describes compensation practices in three Thai companies of various sizes and industries. The research finds that Thai companies pay in a variety of goods and services, either because the goods or services are legally required or help improve production and employee morale, or because there is a cost advantage for the companies in providing them to a large number of employees. Non-cash compensation is also paid to attract candidates and retain employees. In addition to cash compensation and fringe benefits, which are paid formally in accordance with employment contracts or company policy, some employees also receive informal payments. The research finds that informal compensation is paid to motivate and to reward good performance, and that the companies pay informally because this method of remuneration is more flexible. Furthermore, the research finds that ‘seniority ’ pay is also used to reward performance, and suggests that it may not be true that pay for performance seems less prominent than seniority pay in Asian countries (in contrast to the situation in Western countries). Researchers may need to be careful in the interpretation of ‘seniority ’ pay in Asian settings. Finally, the research suggests that practitioners should consider the prevailing management style and the performance evaluation method used when they design compensation packages.

Discussion and guidelines for its applications on people and animals are rather limited. Since people and animals can change their locations independently, their use of such technology is far more complex and a proper guideline is needed to ensure higher success. In this study, we brought upon factors that may influence of the success of RFID uses on people and animal by reviewing the past, present, and future use of RFID technology. Factors such as motivation to use, privacy, certainty of carrying, and confidence of identification are synthesized to develop a guideline that can be used by future RFID adopters.

Drawing on information processing theories and the related literature, we investigated the effects of a select set of review characteristics, including review length and readability, review valence, review extremity, and reviewer credibility on two outcomes-review voting and review helpfulness. We examined and analyzed a large set of review data from Amazon with the sample selection model. Our results indicate that there are systematic differences between voted and non-voted reviews, suggesting that helpful reviews with certain characteristics are more likely to be observed and identified in an online review system than reviews without the characteristics. Furthermore, when review characteristics had opposite effects on the two outcomes (i.e. review voting and review helpfulness), ignoring the selection effects due to review voting would result in the effects on review helpfulness being over-estimated, which increases the risk of committing a type I error. Even when the effects on the two outcomes are in the same direction, ignoring the selection effects due to review voting would increase the risk of committing type II error that cannot be mitigated with a larger sample. We discuss the implications of the findings on research and practice.

The authors used the “storytelling” approach, a semi-structured interview technique for knowledge elicitation.Findings– The study resulted in 132 knowledge items using a qualitative method and categorized them into 14 categories using cluster analysis. The study found that experienced, successful analysts see systems analysis in behavioral, managerial, and political terms and focus heavily on interpersonal, project management, and organizational issue...

Understanding the Antecedents of Effective Knowledge Management: The Importance of a Knowledge‐Centered Culture*

In this study, the existing literature on organizational climate, job characteristics, and organizational learning (in the form of cooperative learning theory) are linked with the current thinking and research findings related to knowledge management to develop a theoretical model explaining the relationships among organizational climate, the level of cooperative learning that takes place between knowledge workers, and the resulting level of knowledge created and disseminated as measured by team performance and individual satisfaction levels. The study goes on to empirically test the proposed research model by investigating the climate of organizations, and seeks to understand the linkage between a set of organizational and individual characteristics a...
