The present study aimed to compare cardiovascular risk factors: blood pressure, alterations in lipid profile and structural changes in heart in pre-and postmenopausal women. Method: It was a hospital based study including 41 women selected on basis of menstrual history. After taking detailed history, clinical examination was performed and fasting blood sample was collected for lipid profile and blood sugar estimation. Atherogenic indices like Castelli's Risk Index-I and II, Atherogenic Index of Plasma and Atherogenic Coefficient were calculated from lipid profile values. Cardiac evaluation was done by echocardiography. Results: A statistically significant increase in blood pressure in postmenopausal women was observed. A statistically significant increase was also noted in total cholesterol (p<0.01), low density lipoprotein (p<0.02) and Castelli Risk Index-II (p<0.04) in postmenopausal women. An increase in Interventricular Septal Thickness in diastole (p<0.003), Left Ventricular Posterior Wall Thickness in diastole (p<0.0003), Aortic Diameter (p<0.01), Left Atrial Diameter (p<0.008), Relative Wall Thickness (p<0.005), Left Ventricular Mass (p<0.004) and Left Ventricular Mass indexed to body Surface Area (p<0.002) and Height 2.7 (p<0.001) was also found to be statistically significant in post menopausal women. Conclusion: Menopause leads to dyslipidemia with atherogenic lipid profile with structural changes in left ventricle structure and mass.

Total 75 respondents selected randomly for intervention programme on valve addition of cotton fabric i.e. 25 each from Bhodia Khera, Bhuthan Kalan and Jandli Kalan. Five days intervention programme was organized in each village which included a well blend of rapport building, focus group discussions, expert lectures, literature, charts and demonstrations. Total 8 tie and dye techniques were demonstrated along with dyeing procedures and embellishments techniques. Embellishment techniques were applied on dyed samples namely embroidery, mirror work, sitara work and sequencing. Highest post exposure knowledge was found in ‘thread tying technique’ (95.7%) and for embellishment technique it was found in ‘embroidery work’ (85.0%). Skill acquisition was found high (82.66%) for ‘tie and dye’ technique and 73.33 p...

It has been conclusively proved to differentiate bacterial from viral and fungal infection. We in this article discuss the biochemistry of PCT, its usefulness in various clinical settings, recent recommendations with regards to the use of PCT in guiding antibiotic therapy and comparison of PCT with various other markers of sepsis like CRP. Another newer biomarker which has been extensively studied is NGAL ( Neutrophil Gelatinase Associated Lipocalcin) in the early diagnosis of AKI. NGAL has been used for prediction of clinical outcomes such as dialysis requirement. NGAL has been proved better than serum creatinine which is a delayed and unreliable indicator of AKI. We in this article discuss the importance of NGAL in several common clinical sce...

In computerized tomography, due to ill posed and non-linear nature of reconstruction algorithms, the efficient algorithms are required for both medical and industry process. The error analysis for approximation algorithms of computerized tomography is necessary to check the efficiency of algorithm. The filter function for algorithm with some moments properties are already known. The use of same bandlimited filter with different number of rays in each projection data leads to different reconstruction and approximation nature of algorithm arises error in the implementation. The results of our theorem for different values are found to be compared with classic convolution back-projection algorithm.

This algorithm has similarity with main convolution backprojection but it defines local information in different directions. In this algorithm, error arises due to the approximation of the density function has also been estimated.

In this work, we propose a method for recovering the image from convolution backprojection algorithm for discrete Radon transform. This method is easy to implement with some arithmetic operations without interpolation. The implementation of method is reported on sample images. The total error estimation in this algorithm, owing to approximation of the function is also reported.

Clinically asymptomatic compensated hypertensives show some pathological findings which are indicative of left ventricular dysfunction. The study population of 106 males, after a detailed clinical examination, were evaluated by echocardiography and were classified as per the body mass index classification of WHO Western Pacific Region in 2000 for Asian population. Fasting blood samples were taken to estimate blood sugar and lipid profile. It was observed that subjects in normal range of body mass index <45 years (23.68%) and >45 years (16.1%), subjects of overweight <45 years (15.7%) and >45 years (10.29%) and obese I and II<45 years (60.52%) and…

Because of their diverse effects on various systems of the body, there has been renewed interest in the use of steroids in modern day anaesthetic practice. This paper focuses on the synthesis and functions of steroids and risks associated with their supplementation. This paper also highlights the recent trends, relevance, and consensus issues on the use of steroids as adjunct pharmacological agents in relation to anaesthetic practice and intensive care, along with emphasis on important clinical aspects of perioperative usefulness and supplementation.
