Busca-se, assim, pesquisar um cinema cuja duração é a de uma memória que não se prende a um ponto determinado no tempo, mas desmorona a partir do dilaceramento que provoca em si mesma, ao afirmar a precariedade que a mantém.

O artigo foi engendrado mediante pesquisa bibliográfica que possibilitou por em análise os aspect... more O artigo foi engendrado mediante pesquisa bibliográfica que possibilitou por em análise os aspectos que permeiam discursos acerca da Responsabilidade Social Empresarial. Buscou-se contrapor idéias e dialogar com autores sobre as interfaces da questão. Lançou-se luz sobre alguns dos acontecimentos históricos que precederam a construção desse novo paradigma organizacional, com a finalidade de compreender parte dos atravessamentos que propiciaram a emergência desse fenômeno. Importou também analisar fatores contemporâneos-como a extensão universitária-que subjazem as novas tendências de ação social. Entendendo-se que o passado e o presente estão articulados de forma indissociável, foi um imperativo examinar os diferentes processos e sujeitos históricos, assim como as relações que se estabeleceram em diferentes tempos e espaços. Neste sentido, a cartografia mostrou-se a metodologia mais apropriada para o propósito deste trabalho, visto que possibilitou mapear e problematizar as relações de força que permitiram a emergência de produções de subjetividade, que legitimam e fazem tal questão funcionar. The second half of the twentieth century can be regarded as the era of reductionism in biology, w... more The second half of the twentieth century can be regarded as the era of reductionism in biology, when, driven by revolutions in molecular biology and genomics, the dominant paradigm saw biology as the sum of its parts: the genes and proteins that make up each organism. Most biologists, however, now recognize that an integrative approach-an understanding of how these parts work together in a complex entity-is as important as a reductionist one. The relatively new discipline of systems biology combines this philosophy with an integration of experimental biology with computational biology. One of the most ambitious goals of systems biology is that of modeling the entire human physiology. Human body can be broken down into a series of interlocking organs and systems, with one of the most tractable to model being the heart. Simple mathematical models of cardiac ion channel action have developed over half a century into complex simulations that are being used successfully in drug discovery. Integrating models together, however, requires close international collaboration. Under Framework Six, the European Commission funded a few collaborative projects in human systems biology including ImmunoGrid, which set out, perhaps over-ambitiously, to model the immune system. Under Framework Seven, over €200 M has been channeled into research projects and networks under the umbrella of the Virtual Physiological Human. Projects funded under this initiative cover a large range of systems and disease states, with the cardio-vascular system and cancer dominating the first tranche of fifteen. This initiative is poised to further develop under the next framework programme (Horizon 2020), which will run for seven years from 2014.

INTRODUÇÃO: A epilepsia é um problema de saúde pública. Afeta mais de cinqüenta milhões de pessoa... more INTRODUÇÃO: A epilepsia é um problema de saúde pública. Afeta mais de cinqüenta milhões de pessoas em todo mundo e mais de vinte milhões deles continuam apresentando crises que não controlam satisfatoriamente com o uso de medicamentos. As epilepsias refratárias correspondem a cerca de 20% dos pacientes epilépticos e boa parte desses apresentam crises parciais complexas passíveis de tratamento cirúrgico. A indicação cirúrgica criteriosa tem se mostrado eficiente para o controle das crises. OBJETIVO: Apresentar dados epidemiológicos e cirúrgicos dos pacientes submetidos ao tratamento cirúrgico no NATE. METODOLOGIA: Estudo retrospectivo com análise de prontuários e classificação do controle de crises de 46 pacientes considerando a Escala de Engel. RESULTADOS: Predomina o sexo masculino, solteiros, sem história familiar para epilepsia. Pacientes procedentes do Estado de Minas Gerais e outros estados da união. European funding under framework 7 (FP7) for the virtual physiological human (VPH) project has be... more European funding under framework 7 (FP7) for the virtual physiological human (VPH) project has been in place now for nearly 2 years. The VPH network of excellence (NoE) is helping in the development of common standards, open-source software, freely accessible data and model repositories, and various training and dissemination activities for the project. It is also helping to coordinate the many clinically targeted projects that have been funded under the FP7 calls. An initial vision for the VPH was defined by framework 6 strategy for a European physiome (STEP) project in 2006. It is now time to assess the accomplishments of the last 2 years and update the STEP vision for the VPH. We consider the biomedical science, healthcare and information and communications technology challenges facing the project and we propose the VPH Institute as a means of sustaining the vision of VPH beyond the time frame of the NoE.

The objective of this contract was to define advanced dc to ac power conditioner conceptual desig... more The objective of this contract was to define advanced dc to ac power conditioner conceptual designs for the residential (5 to 15 kW) and intermediate (15 to 200 kW) markets which provide improved interface and economic characteristics for use with solar photovoltaic and other advanced dc sources. Conceptual designs of 10 kilowatt and 80 kilowatt self-commutated power conditioners using advanced transistor and control logic technology were prepared. These ratings provide the best power conditioner economic characteristics for the residential and intermediate market segments. The use of the self-commutated approach with advanced component and logic technology provides for growth in interface characteristics, cost and efficiency as penetration of dc source technologies increases. These improvements can be incorporated with minimal development effort. When compared to presently available equipment, characteristics of the 10-kW unit provide a 30 to 60% reduction in the power conditioner ...

Exploring interactivity in biomedical innovation: a framework and case study analysis

The literature increasingly recognizes the interactive nature of innovation processes. Biomedical... more The literature increasingly recognizes the interactive nature of innovation processes. Biomedical innovation, in particular, tends to be highly interactive. Given the ubiquitous nature of interactivity in biomedical innovation, we argue that the concept of innovation being interactive or distributed is not sufficiently differentiated to capture variation in the management and organization of innovation in the biomedical domain. In this paper, therefore we propose a framework that begins to unpack the interactive nature of innovation processes. This framework has two dimensions, organizational and knowledge integration, which represent, respectively, the mode of managing and organizing inter-firm relationships, and the level of inter-group knowledge combination required. The framework also recognizes the importance of the institutional context in shaping innovation processes. We test our framework with case data from an ongoing study of biomedical innovation in the UK and US.
