T... more Islamic websites demand special attention due the nature of the content delivered to the users. To deliver satisfying online knowledge and practice for Muslim Ummah, it is important to identify and evaluate the overall features of Islamic website (Iweb). In this paper, we explore the literature on Islamic website and e-consumer and developed a conceptual model that identifies perceived Muslim user satisfaction. The paper examines three issues namely; features of Iweb user satisfaction, perceived dimensions of this satisfaction judgment, and consequence of Muslim user satisfaction with Iweb.

This understanding is drawn from a report published by the Economist Intelligence Unit Limited (2011). The report also suggests that the continued success of these businesses is crucial for the development of the local economies they serve. Related to this is the global advancement in technology that brought about the introduction of advanced ICT into the running of businesses both large and small. This brings to fore the desirability to ensure that high quality IT Governance is deployed in the management of SMEs IT infrastructure to enhance competitive advantage. This chapter sets out to examine the existing IT governance structure at the International College Scotland (ICS) which is an SME located in Edinburgh City in United Kingdom.

The extraordinary rise of emerging markets has steadily increased interest in these markets with both companies and investors seeking new opportunities there. As explained by Wheeler, Ibeh, and Dimitratos (2008) during recessions small businesses are severely constrained by local market conditions and often seek growth abroad. This position sums up the research issue the proposed chapter intends to explore. The chapter will heavily draw on SME internationalisation theories of entry mode specifically examining the arguments provided by Uppsala Model, Network Theory, International Entrepreneurship Theory in the light of the current changing economic circumstances of Europe and emerging market economies.

However, online content can be questionable unless there is a certain level of commitment to the recommendations stated in the literature. Similarly, Islamic websites should be reliable to Muslim users as a major source of Islamic knowledge. This paper reports the findings of a study conducted to measure Muslim users’ perceptions on the reliability of Islamic websites. Around 50 participants answered online open-ended questions, although only 40 returns were considered. Content analysis was used to analyze the data and revealed that the reliability of Islamic websites must be represented in the content, endorsement, interface, and references. In recent years, we have witnessed a trend towards open wireless access, mainly driven by the low... more In recent years, we have witnessed a trend towards open wireless access, mainly driven by the low cost of IEEE 802.11-capable equipment and its operation in unlicensed spectrum. This trend has many faces; municipalities setup free Wi-Fi hotspots for Internet connectivity in public spaces, while Wi-Fi access is provided as an extra service to customers in other venues, such as restaurants or hotels. Also, in many metropolitan areas worldwide, community initiated wireless WiMAX networks in licensed spectrum and government regulated as in the case of Malaysia. This paper discussed the gradual development of both Wi-Fi & WIMAX technologies, compare & contrast the two networks, and then highlighted the challenges surrounding WiMAX towards replacing other wireless networks (i.e. Wi-Fi). Finally, WiMAX extension in Malaysia and other findings were adequately presented in this study.

Features influencing Islamic websites use: A Muslim user perspective

Muslim scholars and organisations use the Internet through various websites to spread Islam globa... more Muslim scholars and organisations use the Internet through various websites to spread Islam globally. The presence of many websites providing Islamic contents online makes it necessary to examine their Islamic features and the factors that influence Muslims to use Islamic websites. This paper empirically investigates the Islamic features that influence the use of Islamic websites by Muslim users. The identified Islamic factors were grouped under five factors: beliefs, ethics, services, symbols, and values. A survey of 246 Muslim Islamic website users was conducted between November and December 2012 at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). The study develops and tests a path measurement model to confirm the psychometric properties of the five identified factors. The study found that Islamic features significantly influence Muslims to use Islamic websites. The measurement model and empirical results provide valuable indicators for the direction of future research and also suggest guidelines for developing Islamic websites that will easily influence many Internet users to visit them in order to learn about Islamic teachings and practices. The findings are also of considerable importance as they contribute to the present body of knowledge on Islamic websites' evaluation and for practice in designing and developing quality Islamic websites.

ABSTRACT This paper proposes a working definition and framework to evaluate content and design of... more ABSTRACT This paper proposes a working definition and framework to evaluate content and design of Islamic Website. There are two studies described in this paper. Firstly, a single user study was conducted to examine fifty (N=50) Islamic websites in order to analyse the working definition of Islamic Website. Secondly, seventy-eight (N=78) Muslim Internet users were investigated on their perceptions of Islamic Website definition. The study revealed that Islamic Website is determined by the characteristics and quality of the content. Quality of Islamic Website is grouped into two categories: design and content. Design features consist of navigation, interactivity and attractiveness; content features consist of legitimacy, objectivity, authority, relevance, credibility and reliability. The main contributions of this paper are the working definition of Islamic Websites and a framework to evaluate religion-based websites, particularly Islamic websites.

Website design features have been widely studied by researchers in various fields, most especiall... more Website design features have been widely studied by researchers in various fields, most especially in e-commerce. Indeed, design features are widely regarded as vital tools that influence website use. However, few studies have devoted significant attention to Islamic website design features that influence website use. The purpose of this study is to identify and explore the most important design features of Islamic websites that influence website use. The study conducted a content analysis on selected Islamic website studies, in which 86 design features were identified, selected, modified, and categorized into six broad features (factors). Ann online survey of 89 Muslim users of Islamic websites was then conducted to rank the identified design features in terms of their importance to the users. The findings of the exploratory factor analysis provide evidence to suggest that only few design features are considered important by Islamic website users. These design features possess highly significant factor-loading and are grouped under "functionality", "navigation", "interactivity", "attractiveness", "organization", and "security/privacy". The study found the above design features to be significant in influencing Islamic website use.

Islamic websites (I-Webs) demand special attention by the nature of the content they deliver to u... more Islamic websites (I-Webs) demand special attention by the nature of the content they deliver to users. To deliver satisfying and useful content for Islamic activities online (e.g. learning about Islam, questioning scholars, chat), it is important to identify and understand the most important features an Islamic website should portray. In this paper, we conducted extensive web searches and reviewed the literature on Islamic websites in order to explore features that influence users to visit a website for online Islamic activities, consequently leading to user satisfaction. The features were categorized into design, content, and Islamic. Design features were measured by usability, navigation, functionality, accessibility, interactivity, attractiveness, and security/privacy. Content features were measured by trust, objectivity, credibility, reliability, relevance, legitimacy, and authority. Islamic features were measured by Tawhid (belief), Sunnah, (practice), Niyyah (intention), ethics, identity, symbols, and software. We conceptualized and proposed that these features influence the use of I-Web and consequently lead to user satisfaction. The conceptual model will provide direction for future empirical research on Islamic websites, which is currently lacking.

IT Governance has became a mission critical for organisations to achieve effective corporate governance. The present challenges to global businesses and corporate governance require strategic IT Governance implementation as the bedrock for increased market share and competitive advantage. To cope with these challenges, IT Governance diagnostic model was designed to help business organizations diagnose and design IT Governance architectures. This paper uses exploratory research approach to investigate the level of IT Governance implementation/practices at the Information Technology Division of HUM.L The paper also indicates the need to extend the IT Governance diagnostic model to cover all other units of the university as well as extend it application to other universities. The study intends to examine how IT is aligned to the university's operations and whether or not IT contributes towards enhanced operational efficiency and effectiveness in the university. Finally, a new IT Governance structure is proposed for implementation at the Information Technology Division, International Islamic University Malaysia.

Today, little is known regarding the present quality rating of both design & content features of Islamic websites. This paper proposes several criteria to evaluate Islamic Websites: navigation, interactivity, legitimacy, objectivity, authority, relevance, attractiveness, credibility and reliability. A single-user evaluation has been conducted for fifty (50) selected Islamic Websites by using the proposed criteria. The results suggest that the quality of Islamic websites may change significantly over time .The findings also revealed that different design and content features contributes differently to the overall quality of Islamic websites. The paper suggests that the nine (9) identified criteria for both design and content features are suitable for the evaluation of different category of Islamic website's quality.

This paper investigates the quality ranking of current Islamic websites using nine (9) website fe... more This paper investigates the quality ranking of current Islamic websites using nine (9) website features (i.e. navigation, interactivity, legitimacy, objectivity, authority, relevancy, attractiveness, credibility, and reliability) in order to find the highest and lowest quality scores for individual websites based on their design & content feature. A heuristic evaluation method using single-user approach was used to evaluate 50 selected Islamic websites. Google search was used to select the 50 topmost popular Islamic websites on 8 th December, 2009. The findings indicate that there has been a considerable improvement in the quality of Islamic websites in terms of design and information content. The findings also show that none of the websites evaluated displayed biased contents against Islam or Islamic groups. In addition, the findings reveal that websites with the highest quality scores were rated excellent in terms of information legitimacy and objectivity, whereas those with the least quality scores were rated poor in terms of authority and interactivity features. The paper concludes that there are considerable quality variations between Islamic websites with highest and lowest percentage scores.

Evaluation of Islamic websites posts great challenges as the websites must reflect the meaning of Islamic way of life. The content must be accurate, correct, credible and true with recognised references. As such, the problem addressed in this study is the lack of suitable definition and measures for evaluating the quality of Islamic websites. This study aims to identify and examine both design and content features that relates to Islamic websites. This study has evaluated fifty (50) selected Islamic websites. Nine (9) design features have been identified which are: navigation, interactivity, and attractiveness) and content features (i.e. legitimacy, objectivity, authority, relevance, credibility, and reliability). A heuristic evaluation method (Sutcliffe, 2002) and procedure (Agarwal &amp; Venkatesh, 2002) involving a single-user was used (Mahmud et aI., 2010). The findings suggest that Islamic websites demonstrates good quality on their design and content features. The findings also indicate that the overall Islamic website&#39;s quality varied significantly between different Islamic websites. In addition, the results suggest that new additional features influence the overall quality of Islamic websites. Finally, the authors, propose a working definition and an enhanced framework for evaluating the quality of Islamic websites
