Pluronic L-81 is a non-ionic hydrophobic surfactant, which specifically inhibits lipid absorption in the intestine when administered in vivo. This compound is therefore an attractive probe to perturb and investigate the molecular and intracellular events in chylomicron assembly in the enterocytes. In the present study pluronic acid was administered to hamsters followed by isolation of the enterocytes and cell fractionation to investigate the effect of pluronic acid on intracellular events in lipid absorption. Four types of diet were administered to hamsters for three weeks; low-fat chow, high-fat chow and each diet with or without added pluronic acid. Sub-cellular fractions of freshly isolated enterocytes were prepared. Consistent with morphological observation, the high fat diet resulted in a threefold increase in the triacylglycerol (TAG) content of the enterocyte...

The most important Iranian medicinal plants effective on intra-abdominal adhesions: A systematic review
Adhesions usually begin to form after surgery and during repair or recovery of intra-abdominal in... more Adhesions usually begin to form after surgery and during repair or recovery of intra-abdominal injured sites. The main cause of adhesion formation is lack of balance between formation and destruction of fibrin. Treatments for adhesions consist of surgery, fibrinolytic agents, antibiotics, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs that may cause their specific side effects and problems. Any measure that leads to decrease in adhesions and associated complications can be useful. Currently, medicinal plants that are effective to heal wounds, reduce inflammation, and boost the body's immune system are being used to prevent many diseases. It is therefore essential to identify effective medicinal plants in preventing intra-abdominal adhesions in surgical patients. In the current review, the words intra-abdominal adhesions, healing adhesion, medicinal plants, extract, essence, and Iran were used to search for and retrieve relevant publications from the scientific databases such as Google...

Current Women s Health Reviews
Pregnancy-related complications can have long-term effects on mothers and fetus/child. Microbiome... more Pregnancy-related complications can have long-term effects on mothers and fetus/child. Microbiome within the human gut is an important factor in maintaining optimum health during pregnancy and possibly reduces the incidence of these complications. Probiotics are active living microorganisms that can provide the host with health benefits such as; immune and hormonal regulatory and metabolic benefits when administered in adequate and optimum dose. Probiotic supplementations also regulate an abnormal and unbalanced microflora population that can control the pathogenesis of several diseases like obesity and diabetes. Probiotics also play a protective role in complications like preeclampsia, gestational diabetes mellitus and maternal weight gain and enhance successful outcomes of reproduction. This mini-review summarizes the maternal and fetal effects of probiotics during pregnancy.
