Model transformations are the core of the MDE methodology. They can be expressed using various la... more Model transformations are the core of the MDE methodology. They can be expressed using various languages. One of them is QVT, the OMG standard for transformation languages. QVT also provides a traceability mechanism. In general, a trace can be used for many purposes. In this paper, we show the limitations of the trace provided by QVT through different scenarios. Furthermore, based on the QVT language elements, we highlight model transformation concepts that would require consideration. We also propose an alternative trace that takes into account these concepts. It allows us to gather information not provided by the QVT trace and thus fully performs the scenarios. The proposed trace is language independent and can be used without perturbing the QVT transformation execution or the trace generation/exploitation by the engine.

This paradigm allows to decrease the execution time of parallel programs using specific strategies in the programming level and partially decoupled control system in the hardware level. The related experiment in VHDL language for system design and in assembly language for case study implementation are described.

Nowadays, recent intensive signal processing applications are evolving and are characterized by t... more Nowadays, recent intensive signal processing applications are evolving and are characterized by the diversity of algorithms (filtering, correlation, etc.) and their numerous parameters. Having a flexible and pro-grammable system that adapts to changing and various characteristics of these applications reduces the design cost. In this context, we propose in this paper Generic Massively Parallel architecture (G-MPSoC). G-MPSoC is a System-on-Chip based on a grid of clusters of Hardware and Software Computation Elements with different size, performance, and complexity. It is composed of parametric IP-reused modules: processor, controller, accelerator, memory, interconnection network, etc. to build different architecture configurations. The generic structure of G-MPSoC facilitates its adaptation to the intensive signal processing applications requirements. This report presents the benefits of using the Model Driven Engineering (MDE) methodology to solv... more This report presents the benefits of using the Model Driven Engineering (MDE) methodology to solve major difficulties encountered by usual high level synthesis (HLS) flows. These advantages are highlighted in a design space exploration environment we propose. MDE is the skeleton of our HLS flow dedicated to intensive signal processing to demonstrate the expected benefits of these software technologies extended to hardware design. Both users and designers of the design flow benefit from the MDE methodology, participating to a concrete and effective advancement in the high level synthesis research domain. The flow is automatized from UML specifications to VHDL code generation and has been successfully evaluated for the conception of a video processing application.

Actually, data-parallel languages have chosen arrays to support the parallelism. This regular data structure allows a natural development of regular parallel algorithms. The implementation of irregular algorithms necessitates a programming e ort to project the irregular data structures onto regular structures. In this article we present the di erent techniques used to manage the irregularity in data-parallel languages. Each of them will be illustrated with standard or experimental data-parallel language constructions.
