Research-informed forensic psychologist with multidisciplinary training and 18 years of experience. Areas of competency include best practices in interviewing, behavioral science and behavioral analysis, expert witnessing in critical-sensitive criminal proceedings, detecting deception, criminology, multidisciplinary intervention and crisis responding, research, rehabilitation, and the assessment, mitigation, and management of violent and threatening behavior, as well as the assessments of mental health, mental illness, substance abuse, response style (e.g., malingering), and severe personality constructs (e.g., psychopathy). Innovative trainings, teaching, and expert consultation have been provided to senior officials and representatives within the state and federal government [District of Columbia, The State of Florida, The Federal Law Enforcement Center (FLETC)], academic institutions (The University of Maine, San Francisco State University, and California State University East Bay), and professional organizations [The American Psychological Association (APA), The National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and The American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT)]. Designing and executing research projects associates with five textbooks and one book chapter, 20 peer-reviewed journal articles, and 32 presentations at professional conferences. Cross-disciplinary training includes Advanced Interviewing Techniques for Law Enforcement Investigators, Counterterrorism, and Threat Assessment at FLETC. Accomplishments have been recognized via 19 merit-based commendations or awards from 2006-present. Foreign languages include Arabic (Intermediate) and Spanish (Novice).
