Electrical, electronic and thermal studies on poly [(aniline) co (p-methoxyaniline)] and poly [(o-toluidine) co (p-methoxyaniline)]

It has been revealed that p-methoxyaniline units could be incorporated in the polyaniline as well... more It has been revealed that p-methoxyaniline units could be incorporated in the polyaniline as well as in the poly(o-toluidine) backbones. Copolymers show lower electrical conductivities than polyaniline due to the presenceof -OCH 3 and -CH 3 groups attached to the phenyl units affecting the planarity of systems. Electronic and ESR spectra are in agreement with the electrical properties of the copolymers. ESR spectra reveal that the electrical conductivity of copolymers increase with increase in ΔH p p , decrease in a/b ratio and decrease in 'g' value. Poly[(aniline)co(p-methoxyaniline)] has been observed to be thermally more stable whereas poly[(o-toluidine)co(p-methoxyaniline)] less stable than polyaniline.

Graphene/Nickel Oxide-Based Nanocomposite of Polyaniline with Special Reference to Ammonia Sensing

Pani were characterized using X-ray diffraction, UV−vis spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, scannin... more Pani were characterized using X-ray diffraction, UV−vis spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The as-prepared materials were studied for comparative dc electrical conductivity and the change in their electrical conductivity on exposure to ammonia vapors followed by ambient air at room temperature. It was observed that the incorporation of GN/NiO in Pani showed about 99 times greater amplitude of conductivity change than pure Pani on exposure to ammonia vapors followed by ambient air. The fast response and excellent recovery time could probably be ascribed to the relatively high surface area of the Pani@GN/NiO nanocomposite, proper sensing channels, and efficaciously available active sites. Pani@GN/ NiO was observed to show better selectivity toward ammonia because of the comparatively high basic nature of ammonia than other volatile organic compounds tested. The sensing mechanism was explained on the basis of the simple acid−base chemistry of Pani.

Preparation, FTIR spectroscopic characterization and isothermal stability of differently doped fibrous conducting polymers based on polyaniline and nylon-6,6

The increase in the ratio of conducting polymer volume in case of such fibers make them attractive materials for potential applications. As it is difficult directly to form fibers of conducting polymers, stirring process is attempted to form fibers of conducting polyaniline and nylon-6,6. In the present paper, the fibrous polyaniline:nylon-6,6 (PANI:Ny-6,6) with different weight percentages (5-20%, w/w) are prepared by stirring process. The fibers obtained are characterized using Fourier-transform infrared spectra (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the variation of electrical conductivity with different type doping agents 0.1 M (HCl, H 2 SO 4 and HClO 4) and the stability in terms of DC electrical conductivity retention was studied in an oxidative environment by isothermal characteristics.

ABSTRACT Herein, we report in situ preparation of dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) micelles ass... more ABSTRACT Herein, we report in situ preparation of dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) micelles assisted polyaniline (Pani)/zirconium oxide (ZrO2) nanocomposites (Pani/ZrO2) by using K2S2O8 as an oxidizing agent. Thus prepared nanocomposites were characterized by SEM, FTIR, XRD and UV–vis spectrophotometry. DBSA acted as dopant/surfactant, and the incorporation of ZrO2 nanoparticles improved the stability, electrical and thermal properties of nanocomposites. From the results of UV–vis absorbance it was observed that Pani/ZrO2 nanocomposite was more stabilized under UV light than Pani. DC electrical conductivity retention was studied by isothermal and cyclic ageing techniques and was observed to be better than Pani under ambient environmental conditions.

Polyaniline (PANI):polyethyleneterephthalate (PET) composite was prepared by chemical polymerizat... more Polyaniline (PANI):polyethyleneterephthalate (PET) composite was prepared by chemical polymerization of aniline diffused in the PET matrix. Thus prepared composite films were characterized by fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy and their electrical properties and the thermo-oxidative stability was studied by thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis. The stability in terms of DC electrical conductivity retention was studied in an oxidative environment by two slightly different techniques viz. isothermal and cyclic techniques. DC electrical conductivity of composite films was found to be stable up to 90 C for most of the composites under ambient conditions. The composite films were employed as cathode material in secondary cells containing 1M ZnCl 2 solution. The studies were carried out on the charge/discharge cycles under a constant current load 140 mA. The composite films showed similar behavior in electrolyte solution and cell response is reversible. To determine the diffusion coefficient for the chloride ions diffusion into the composite films electrochemically, galvanostatic pulse method was used. The diffusion coefficient was estimated to be $ 3.28 Â 10 À12 cm 2 s À1. V

ABSTRACT Herein, we present a comparative study for the analysis of amino acids on silica gel (SI... more ABSTRACT Herein, we present a comparative study for the analysis of amino acids on silica gel (SIG) and polyaniline (Pani) modified SIG as stationary phases using 1% ethanolic solution of boric acid as mobile phase. The separation studies revealed that in the case of modified SIG, improved separations of two component mixtures of amino acids were achieved. Some new combinations of binary separations were achieved on Pani modified SIG layer, which were not efficiently separated in the case of pure SIG. Thus, by the modification of SIG surface with Pani, sorbent with enhanced chromatographic performance can be achieved.
