The number of devices from 1 to 13, and individual sending rates from 50 to 2300 messages per second are tested to provide examples of various network load situations that may resemble a performance configuration. The overall end-to-end latency and bandwidth are measured as the basic performance metrics of interest. The results show that a maximum message rate of 2300 Hz is possible on a 2.4 GHz network for a single embedded device and decreases as the number of devices are added. During testing it was possible to have up to 7 devices transmitting at 100 Hz while attaining less than 10 ms latency, but performance degrades with increasing sending rates and number of devices. Performance can also vary significantly from day to day depending on network usage in a crowded environment.

GuitarAMI uses sensors to modify the classical guitars constraints while GuiaRT uses digital signal processing to create virtual guitarists that interact with the performer in real-time. After a bibliographic review of Augmented Musical Instruments (AMIs) based on guitars, we present the details of the two projects and compare them using an adapted dimensional space representation. Highlighting the complementarity and cross-influences between the projects, we propose avenues for future collaborative work.

It is always a challenge for the stomatologist due to its complex patholoogy and difficult treatment. It can be treated following either a multidisciplinary approach involving different professionals such as the periodontist, the orthodontist, the prosthodontist, the implantologist and those devoted to the pathologies of the TMJ, or a more integral process. Due to the circumstances of our patient such as his age, the compelling immediacy of the treatment and the convenience of being treated by just one professional able to solve the problem, we decided that the integral treatment (IT) is preferable whenever all the treatment patterns are taken into account. We deem the Occlusal collapse (OC) as a syndrome, an entity starting as a partial edentulism that induces an occlusal pathology affecting the periodontium and causing destruction and pathologically migrated teeth. It is, more than an entity, the evolut...

The interaction between algorithms and minds has helped a myriad of artists to explore and transcend some frontiers of human sensation, perception and cognition, as well as promoting the distributed interaction and remote cooperation of artists in social networks of multimodal artwork performances. This work presents a study on this subject where sessions of free musical improvisation were performed by a group using HI open-source resources as their gestural control. The perceptual and cognitive implications of this human-machine free improvisation interaction are here presented, described and discussed.

By experimenting with the simulation settings, numerous key concepts in digital signal theory can be illustrated, such as aliasing, quantization, critical sampling, anti-aliasing filtering and dithering. The interactive interface allows the simulation to be explored freely; users can modify parameters and examine the resulting signals visually through numerous graphs or listen to the resulting signals. The workbench has been extensively used during the 200-level Introduction to Digital Audio course at McGill University in Fall 2020. CCS CONCEPTS • Applied computing → Interactive learning environments; Mathematics and statistics; Sound and music computing.

Toxicity tests show a sensitivity to the pesticide in the bivalve estimated at 16 μg L(-1) (LC(50-96 hours)). Concentrations between 0.2 and 1.61 μg L(-1) were able to inhibit significantly the AChE activity, and concentrations between 0.8 and 1.61 μg L(-1) stimulate ammonia excretion and decrease oxygen : ammonia-N (O : N) ratio, with respect to the control group. A. ater proved to be a species sensitive to pesticide exposure and easy to handle in lab conditions. Thus, it is recommended as a bioindicator for use in programs of environmental alertness in the Eastern South Pacific coastal zone.

MARCO was built to investigate the hypothesis that hybrid systems capable of displaying emotions make playing chess more personal and enjoyable. In addition, it is our aim to realize emotional contagion between man and machine in that the agent has the power to influence the human player on an emotional level and vice versa. The hardware components consist of eight Dynamixel servos, an Arduino-based control board, a 5.6 inch display, and a DGT chessboard. The software components run concurrently as separate processes. The main components are the virtual agent framework MARC, the WASABI Affect Simulation architecture, and the TSCP chess engine.
