We use the Petri net model for production lines and a restrictive policy which prevents some enabled transition from firing for avoiding deadlock in the system. This is the safety control for non-stochastic discrete event systems. We generalise this notion of safety to the setting of stochastic discrete event systems, modelled as Markov chains. We propose a restriction policy for this generalised case.

Any deviation is spotted by specific sensors and then transmitted to the user in order to intervene in real time. The system presents an innovation in the field of electrical installation protection against fire, even from an incipient phase characterized by deviations from nominal functional parameters of the electrical installations.

Whatever the complexity of these systems, controlling the amount of heat produced in a heating installation that operates with boilers and radiators is always done by controlling temperature of thermal agent. In this article there are made the models for two types of automatic systems that control the temperature of thermal agent: a classic system with nonlinear regulator and a new system with fuzzy logic controller. Both systems use a three-way control valve. The results obtained by simulating the operation for each automatic system allow determining the main performances. The comparison of the performances for the two systems and conclusion demonstrates the superiority of the fuzzy control system.

The IEEE-519 and IEC 61000-3 standards limit the individual harmonics current as well as the THD for nonlinear power electronic loads. A harmonic current distortion comparative study of a classical three-phase rectifier diode (TPRD) and rectifier with near sinusoidal currents (RNSIC) are presented.

We model such systems with Petri nets and we impose a restrictive policy in order to reject bottlenecks in the system. Deadlocks in automations driven through IIoT applications occur mainly when two or more devices try to access the same resource. In order to solve these issues we use Petri net models which ensure reversibility of the net, respectively to grant the recoverability property of the modelled system. We deal with reversibility of a net not necessary to find returning routes from bottlenecks, but also by finding alternative routes for avoiding deadlocks in the IIoT controlled system. We emphasize our approach with an example, and we propose a general policy for these systems in order to ensure their vivacity.

Such a system is said to be cyclic if it provides the same sequence of products indefinitely. This chapter considers the scheduling of holonic cyclic manufacturing systems and describes a new approach using Petri nets formalism. We propose an approach to frame the optimum schedule of holonic cyclic manufacturing systems in order to maximize the throughput while minimize the work in process. We also propose an algorithm to verify the optimum schedule.

Modelling Formalisms for Green Transportation Systems

One of the most important direction for applying the above mentioned desiderates is a better planning of transportation, as we all know that globalisation implies an accelerated process of externalisation of ideas, know-how, products and labours. In this chapter, we consider discrete event systems (DES) modeled via a state space representation. The model objective is the avoidance of a given set of states, or equivalently the fact that certain predicates, specified in terms of states are always false. We address the state space controlled Petri Nets (PN) and a technique to reduce the complexity of these nets, by taking into account the fact that the complexity of the considered nets depends mainly on the representation of the control design, respectively on the forbidden sets of places. Our goal is to describe in an efficient way the forbidden sets of the modeled system, e.g. to describe in an efficient way the DES modeled with controlled Petri nets. An example from the railway systems illustrates this approach.

A new type of memristors with a floating photogate based on biocompatible graphene and other 2D crystals with extremely low power consumption and footprint is considered. The photocatalytic oxidation of graphene is proposed as an effective method of creating synapse-like 2D memristive devices with photoresistive switching for nonvolatile electronic memory of ultrahigh density. Particular attention is paid to the new concept of the formation of self-assembled nanoscale memristive elements interfacing artificial electronic neural networks. 2D photomemristors with a floating photogate exhibit multiple states controlled in a wide range of electromagnetic radiation and can be used for neuromorphic computations, pattern recognition and image processing needed to create artificial intelligence.

"An artificial social system is a set of restrictions on agents` behaviours in a multi-agent environment. Its role is to allow agents to coexist in a shared environment and pursue their respective goals in the presence of other agents" (Moses & Tennenholtz, n.d.). Despite conventional approaches, Cyber Security Model of Artificial Social System Man-Machine is not guided by rigid control algorithms but by flexible, eventadaptable ones that makes them more lively and available. All these allow a new design of artificial social systems dotted with intelligence, autonomous decision-making capabilities, and self-diagnosing properties. Heuristics techniques, data mining planning activities, scheduling algorithms, automatic data identification, processing, and control represent as many trumps for these new systems analyzing formalism. The authors challenge these frameworks to model and simulate the interaction of man-machine in order to have a better look at the human, social, and organizational privacy and information protection.
